J. Crew Trimmed Taffeta Melinda Dress

At first I thought it was rather silly to buy a $1300 Fendi Baguette that comes with ten markers so I can draw my own design on it, even if it is Fendi. And I’m not pulling out my credit card anytime soon, but there is some merit to having a purse of this sort.

This kit from Fendi comes with a white canvas baguette with “F” magnetic closures and ten markers so you can draw on your own design. If you are in the Fendi handbag market and have an artistic bend, consider this – would you like a upscale purse to document the major events of your life on? As the years go by, write a date or doodle a picture on the bag – marriage, a career-making event, children, first house, grandchildren – and proudly wear it through the years. Seems like it will be a great little clutch to bring along to your 50th anniversary party – and will provide a conversation piece each time you wear it in the years to come.

Think of it as a rather expensive patchwork quilt. But cheaper and more fun than getting a tattoo removed…

Find it at Neiman Marcus for $1300.

Since earrings and ear buds don’t really mix, you might as well have shimmer on your ear buds. JC Penny is offering Bling Ear Buds for $3.99 (reduced from $24.99) in Blue, Ligth Gray, and Pink. They also have Bling Ipod Cases around $4.99 – reminds me of a Jalda case I got for my shuffle from Neiman Marcus a bit back.

A little too far north to enjoy Neiman Marcus? NeimanMarcus.com now ships to Canada!

So if you are interested in getting the Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze from Neiman Marcus, now you can! To make the deal sweeter, you will get a deluxe sample size of Fekkai All-Day Hair Plump (which is amazing) with any Fekkai purchase!

So now that you’ve thought of all the outfits that will be perfect with today’s Shoe Saturday Nine West Vasca Mary Jane, let’s add a matching lip color. My new favorite lip stain brand, Liptini, offers a beautiful purple-red color, Berry Cherry, that would flatter any complexion. While both of the components are bold colors, it is quite delicate. And it makes your lips look much fuller – which is difficult to do with anything in the plum-purple-red realm of color.

If you are looking for a color that is more of the garnet color of the toe of this week’s shoe, then you may want to consider Kirsch Lip Stain or Berry Julep Cordial Lip Stain - both beautiful garnets!

It always surprises me how many plum colored clothes I have for Spring. So these Nine West Women’s Vasca Mary Jane will come in handy – a delicate satin is great for this time of year.

I have to warn you – if you use the new Frederic Fekkai All Day Hair Plump, you may end up losing endless hours of your day simply staring at your hair in the mirror. Admiring how much hair you have. How smooth it is. How your hair is perfectly healthy from root to ends. How much bounce your hair has when you turn your head. How you will clearly be the prettiest girl at the party. It’s going to take up a big portion of your day until you get used to being just that fabulous.

It’s no secret that I love Fekkai products, but the two that I’ve tried recently – the Fekkai Salon Glaze (stay tuned for my review on that) and the Fekkai All Day Hair Plump – have really blown me away. As I said to one of the other Style Chicks today, the Fekkai All Day Hair Plump makes it feel like you have double the amount of hair on your head. And brings your hair back to how healthy it was when you were a kid – that amazing shine, softness and luminosity of a child’s hair. With no residue or stickiness, either.

To use, I pumped out about four pumps (which isn’t a whole lot of the product – this bottle will last a long time) and applied it to wet hair. This was enough to coat all of my long, thick hair (my hair goes a little past mid-back). It feels like it instantly absorbs into your hair – there really is no residue or oiliness to it. From there, I used a straightening drier attachment and dried it in sections – maybe about a tenth of my head at a time. I got amazing volume, incredible shine and luminosity, and best of all, it looked stronger and healthier than I’ve ever seen my hair. Like strands of silk growing out my head!

You can use All Day Hair Plump with your usual styling products – the third time I used All Day Hair Plump I followed it up with Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel from the Coiff Collection and got shiny, bouncy, soft to the touch curls.

The way it plumps your hair cuticle is amazing – I have an area near my temple that is a bit thinner than the rest of my hairline, so I usually part my hair in the middle. With All-Day Hair Plump, I was able to side-part my hair right at the point I usually cover – and it looks as full and thick as the rest of my hair. Are your ends looking thinner than the rest of your hair? Use this product and your hair will have the same thickness all the way down your hair shaft. I’ve tried a lot of products trying to get that effect, and not one has come close.

How does it do all this?

This great serum (BTW – as with most hair products, rubs the product between your hands a few times – the heat from your hands will take the lotion-like formula and melt it into a serum – it’s kind of like activating it) provides a continuous, time release moisturization of your hair all day. It fills damaged spots in the hair cuticle (the stuff that makes your hair feel rough and what leads to split ends) via marine peptides and Hyaluronate. Hyaluronate is the same stuff as Hyaluronic Acid that is found in high end skincare products, which has the same amazing plumping and youthifying effect on skin. It is able to not leave residue or be sticky because it fills in the damaged spot – so basically there is nothing left on the outside of your hair, it all gets absorbed in.

Fekkai All-Day Hair Plump is part of the Advance Hair Care line from Fekkai, and the daytime equivalent of the Fekkai Overnight Hair Repair. I haven’t tried the Overnight Hair Repair, but I would be interested in seeing how it works in tandem with the All Day Plump as a long term hair repair system – if it works half as well as the All Day Hair Plump, my hair would look like I’ve never seen the sun or a heat process in my life.

Once upon a time (September 1998) in a land far away (My local Body Shop) a fair maiden (me at a young enough age that I didn’t need undereye concealer) found a subtle red lip stain marker. It was perfect – my lips but better. Since this was my first time trying a lip stain, I was amazed that I could apply it in the morning and it stayed on all day. My perfect, “I’m not wearing any makeup, my lips just look this red naturally” lip stain.

You of course know how this story ends – when I went to replace it, they had discontinued that color.

I have been searching ever since for that perfect shade in a lip stain. Every color that I have tried has been close, but not quite – I wasn’t looking for a bold red, just a subtle red. And any time I tried mixing stains together, I’d end up with a weird mud brown color. And I loved the staying power of lip stains- even long-lasting formulas wouldn’t last through the day like a lip stain does. Nor do long lasting formulas provide as great a base for lipstick or gloss – any creamy color will last ten times as long over a lip stain.

So I was very excited when I found the Liptini brand. Their very refreshing philosophy towards makeup is based on “cocktailing” – mixing together different elements to get a variety of looks.

Liptini has a wide range of products, but it was their Lip Liqueur Lip & Cheek Stains that caught my eye. These stains can be worn alone, under lipstick or gloss, or as a cheek stain. Best of all, they can be mixed together to get your perfect shade. For once, I can actually augment a base shade with another color and not end up with a very unflattering brown!

Armed with a few beautiful Liptini colors in an attempt to recreate my perfect shade, I started with a base of Maraschino,  a cherry red. The color was consistent and one coat yielded a sheer color, and two layers was pretty close to my perfect color – I was thrilled already. I then added a light coat of Cherry Brandy (a sheer, cool mahogany). That was really, really close to a perfect replacement, but it wasn’t quite there until I added  Kirsch (a sheer, light garnet – absolutely stunning on it’s own or with clear gloss on top of it) that I had my long lost color. Ah…now my decade long search is over!!!!!!

Liptini Perfect Red

While each layer takes about twenty seconds to completely dry, the whole application process using three different stains took less time than applying lipstick with a lip brush. And of course once you have your base color the way you want it, adding lipstick or gloss can add more polish and impact.

I was surprised at how nice the applicator is – it comes to a fine tip at the end of the slant, so I can line all the way to the corners and do my “always smiling” trick – without going beyond your lip line, angle the applicator up a bit when you get to the corner (like how you would if you were lining your lips with a standard lip liner). You will look like you always have a pleasant look on your face – which is great if the corners of your mouth tend to turn down. I haven’t been able to do this before with a lip stain applicator, so for me, this is another plus of Liptini.

It’s the rare brand that combines a fun concept with a great product – but Liptini does it well. In addition to the Framboise Cordial Shimmering Lip & Cheek Tints (I will be reviewing two other amazing Liptini Cordial Shimmering Lip & Cheek Tints in a couple of days), I’m going to pick up the Grenadine Straight Up Lipstick (which looks like a great pink for spring) and Blue flame Topper Lip Gloss to create endless great shades with my new favorite lip stains!
