Once upon a time (about five weeks ago) in a land far far away (at my desk, where I am sitting right now), I had a serious decision to make. Really serious. I had to decide which fantastic skincare product to use on vacation! Yes, my life is tough.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Perfecting Day Fluid SPF 15You see, I wanted the incredible radiance that Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum gives on contact, but I knew I should be wearing sunscreen. 99% of the time I use both in layers, but in the crazy hot first week of August, I thought that more than one layer of skincare product would be a bit too much for the matte yet slightly dewy look I was going for. If I was going to be outside for more than a couple of minutes, the choice would be clear – sunscreen. But I was going to be mostly inside one particular day, so the question remained: which product to use? As I sat there I checked my mail, and saw that the good folks at Caudalie were sending me their new Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid SPF 15 for review. Suddenly, I didn’t have to choose – I would be able to get that radiant look and be wearing a SPF!

But the sum is greater than its’ parts in the case of Caudalie’s Day Perfecting Fluid. Not only did it make my skin radiant, supple, and provide the perfect base for makeup, it also evened out my skin tone immediately without foundation. I was instantly hooked. The texture of the formula is so silky too – it really feels like you have nothing on your skin, and it is incredibly gentle – which I love for a product with a SPF.

It definitely smoothed out little lines on Lyn and I, and as I said, it really evened out skin tone. So we decided to test it out on our father, who can be rather errant when it comes to SPF. (We call this “Skin Care Ninja-ing” – a quick sweep of moisturizer across his forehead and onto his temples when he’s not looking). He looked FANTASTIC. The lines on his forehead just disappeared with one use. While Day Perfecting Fluid is a beige-y color in your palm before application, it imparts no color to the skin, but smooths lines in no time flat, so it’s definitely a product men can use as well when looking for a SPF with a matte finish (aka doesn’t look like he has anything on, SPF or otherwise).

Lyn and I have both been using Caudalie Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid SPF 15 for a few weeks now and we love it. It’s not sticky or greasy on the hottest of summer days, and keeps you looking fresh no matter what. It’s a great addition to using Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum at night – it really lightens up dark spots over time.

Hey Folks!

Summer got a little crazy for us, but now we’re back in the beauty saddle. I love this time of year – it’s 80 degrees out, but I’m cooing over cashmere suits I see in magazines and wondering which plum lipstick to pick up at Sephora…

Are you a fan of joy? Then I have a haircare line for you – Neil George Salon products. It is simply impossible under the laws of the universe in which we live to not be happy when you use these products.

Neil George Refresh Dry ShampooOK, let me back up. I’ve only tested three of their products so far, but I think the above statement holds up. I have a pantheon of fabulous hair products in my closet, and Neil George products still excite me this much.

Let’s start with Neil George Refresh Dry Shampoo Triple Botanical Complex. It’s really a fantastic dry shampoo. A lot of dry shampoos do a decent enough job refreshing your hair and scalp, but until now I haven’t found one that really makes my scalp feel like I washed my hair. Neil George Dry Shampoo leaves the scalp feeling like you just stepped out of the shower.

What really impresses me, though, is the styling power of this dry shampoo. As you know I’m always on the hunt for a great volumizer, and Refresh Dry Shampoo both freshens hair and volumizes it like crazy, in no time flat. I’m particularly impressed with how easy it is to create bombshell hair out of summer frizz with this dry shampoo – divide hair into a few sections, flip head over, spray at the root, wait 30 seconds, massage the scalp, flip hair over, put a little extra in the front sections and you are good to go. It’s kind of a polished version of bed head. And hair is left soooo shiny after use – definitely no product residue, even on really dark hair.

The scent is subtle, which I like. A lot of dry shampoos have a pretty heady (no pun intended) scent, which isn’t really what I’m looking for if I’m using a dry shampoo. Refresh Dry Shampoo just smells like, well, freshly shampooed hair.

The fantastic Neil George Refresh Dry Shampoo Triple Botanical Complex is available the Neil George Salon website for $18.
