Lift Care Vitamin C L-Ascorbic Acid Serum

July 14, 2016 · 4 Comments

Lift Care Vitamin C L-Ascorbic Acid Serum

Lift Care Vitamin C L-Ascorbic Acid Serum

An L-Ascorbic Vitamin C is the freshest and most powerful C you can get in serum. When I first saw that it was only 10%, I thought it might be less effective than many of the 20% Vitamin C serums commercially available. But since it an L-Ascorbic Acid variety of vitamin C, it is a more potent antioxidant and when paired with other specific ingredients as those which are seen in this serum, and can be a far more efficient skin treatment.

An L-Ascorbic based Vitamin C serum has superior anti-oxidant properties to traditional Vitamin C serums. This makes the Lift Care Vitamin C serum especially helpful for aging and photo-damaged skin. Even if you are younger but have over-done suntanning, the L-Ascorbic in this Lift Care Serum is ideal for rejuvenating skin, fading acne scars and treating current acne breakouts.

Secondly, L-Ascorbic Acid provides soluble Vitamin C on a topical level that can be used by the skin in the production of collagen. Providing the skin with Vitamin C is especially important as skin ages and natural levels of both collagen and Vitamin C decrease, which causes sagging and wrinkles.

APPLICATION
This is a lightweight serum that applies smoothly and dries down evenly without residue. Once the serum is dry, moisturizer, makeup, and sunscreen can be applied over the serum. I also apply it to my throat and upper chest. Skin appears dewy, not sticky.

RESULTS
I have a few acne scars that over time have become plum-brown marks on my cheeks. I also have a few lighter wrinkle lines along my forehead. Additionally, I have several blackheads and whiteheads around my nose and surrounding pores. These three problems both respond well to this L-Ascorbic Vitamin C serum, and the anti-oxidant properties help purge the sebum from blackheads and whiteheads, so my skin is clearer on the overall.

CONCLUSION: I like that this serum is suitable for both older and younger skin problems including sun damage, acne, scarring, brown spots, wrinkles, the need to use an anti-oxidant and increasing collagen production. Good price for a versatile, useful serum.

Brooklyn Botany Vitamin C Serum

Brooklyn Botany Vitamin C Serum

Brooklyn Botany Vitamin C Serum

I like that this serum is an L-Ascorbic Vitamin C, which is a much more potent, powerful version of Vitamin C than what is typically found in most Vitamin C serums. It is not a Vitamin C derivative, it is pure C, and as such, it can lose its’ freshness and potency quickly, which is why it is not found in many serums due to its’ limited shelf life. This serum has a special blend to preserve the L-Ascorbic for twelve months. Once I opened it, I chose to keep it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh. Refrigeration is not required, but I find it useful and during the summer months it makes it refreshing to apply a cooling serum.

The serum applies smoothly and dries down evenly without being sticky. It leaves skin with a dewy, subtle glow. My skin did not feel dry, red or irritated and there is not a residual scent. To maximize the effects of this serum, use after washing the face, and leave skin slightly moist. Apply the serum, and allow to dry. After 10-15 minutes, use an eye cream and facial moisturizer over the serum. If you are going to be outside, wear sunscreen to protect the skin, as Vitamin C increases sun sensitivity.

This serum is particularly suited to sensitive skins as the preservatives are naturally soothing and have a buffering effect. The serum can be used once to twice a day. Vitamin C is used in the morning if you only use it once a day.

RESULTS
I find this gives a dewy glow to my skin and softens fine lines and dries blackheads and emerging blemishes. I have a few brown spots on my face that are very slowly fading. Vitamin C is especially effective on the forehead.

Vitamin C addresses these sort of topical skin concerns, but also is a vital component in the production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is the scaffolding that holds up the skin and keeps it from sagging and wrinkling. Because of this, I tend to use extra of the serum on my forehead, above my eyebrows and on crows feet to increase the collagen in these areas. Collagen production typically takes 1-2 months to become noticeable but results in tighter, firmer skin.

CONCLUSION: High-quality L-Ascorbic Vitamin C serum, suitable for sensitive skin. Effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines and acne scars, exceptional price.

I Max 15% Trichloroacetic Acid Serum-Deep Chemical Peel

July 13, 2016 · 4 Comments

I Max 15% Trichloroacetic Acid Serum-Deep Chemical Peel

I Max 15% Trichloroacetic Acid Serum-Deep Chemical Peel

Don’t be fooled by the comparatively low percentage on this Serum compared to other serums; 15% Trichloroacetic Acid is still a deep chemical peel and as such, it is very potent and should be diluted with distilled water before use and only left on the skin for a few minutes. It is, however, very effective when used multiple times a month or even bi-weekly, so be assured that even if you over-dilute it, you will still see results in a relatively short time period.

This Serum is best for those with normal to sensitive skin or those with generally good skin but with some problem areas, such as acne scars, brown spots or other hyperpigmentation, and fine wrinkles on areas such as the forehead. Even though I frequently use products on the delicate eye skin area that are not intended for use around the eye, I would never use this product around the eyes because the eye area skin is just too thin to do so. This serum is best used on tougher skin areas such as the forehead or on stretch marks on the legs.

While it can eventually treat scars, moles, warts, and skin tags; it will take multiple treatments and the 45% Trichloroacetic Acid made by the same company will work faster. That being said, anything that can treat a wart, mole, or skin tag is strong, and should be applied accordingly. ALWAYS read all the directions.

RESULTS
What I like best about the 15% Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) is it creates a very even appearance to the skin in both the texture and tone. It reduces the appearance of rough patches, wrinkles, and scars from teenage acne, childhood chicken pox scars, as well as lighten brown age spots.

I also liked the results so far on the texture and appearance of my stretch marks, especially those on the upper outer thighs. They appear more subtle, and while they are not invisible, the texture of that skin seems much more normal.

Do note that this is a deep peel, which is different than a glycolic peel or dermabrasion in that skin will be dry, flake and peel for several days after use. If the area of application is on your face, plan accordingly to since there will be too much peeling to conceal it with makeup. It will be a good week until your skin stops peeling and then new, softer skin appears. Apply an emollient moisturizer daily, and make sure to wear sunscreen.

NO EXCESSIVELY IRRITATING CHEMICALS
When using a more potent product such as this TCA serum, there is always a concern of excess irritation to the skin due to chemical additives intended to preserve the active ingredients. The entire I-Max line of skin care products uses natural preservatives instead of chemical ones, which is excellent for more sensitive skins. The serum is preserved naturally using a pretty ingenious idea of a natural Vitamin “charge” of Vitamin B as a preservative. When you open the bottle for the first time, there is a fizzy reaction similar to when a carbonated beverage such as a soda or seltzer water bottle is opened. That charge keeps the product preservative free. To retain freshness, there is a special inverted dropper to dispense each drop.

What I especially like about the I-Max TCA is there are no excessive irritants to the skin because it uses natural preservatives instead of chemical ones. This is done with a natural Vitamin “charge” that can be seen when opening the bottle; there is a fizzy reaction when some of the carbonated charge is released.

CONCLUSION: A powerful peel that can make skin appear even, soft, and improve texture to look younger and smoother. Works on scars, acne marks, wrinkles and rough patches of skin, especially on the forehead. Suitable for stretch marks. Remember to dilute the product with distilled water before use.

Sunglasses with SPF: LotFancy Women’s Resin Frame Metal Temples Sunglasses

LotFancy Women's Resin Frame Metal Temples Sunglasses

LotFancy Women’s Resin Frame Metal Temples Sunglasses

Well, it’s past July 4th, I guess there is no denying that Summer is here. While I wear sunglasses year round, I think summer is a good time to revisit your sunglass game. So we’ll be taking a look at a few varieties in the upcoming weeks.

An important part of a useful summer sunglass is a lens with UV protection. Not only does it protect your eye, but a proper UV coating also protects the delicate skin around your eye. You know, that part that ages faster than any part of your face.

That is why we like LotFancy Women’s Resin Frame Metal Temples Sunglasses. They have UV400 protection, which means that they guard against 100% of both UVA and UVB rays, so your eyes and orbital skin are completely protected by these lenses.

Sunglasses with UV protection is especially imperative if you don’t have a sunscreen that you can tolerate wearing around your eyes. It took me a long time to find a few sunscreens that don’t irritate my eye skin, and even then, and the extra layer of protection is good to protect the thin skin of the orbital area.

The oversized styling of the frames also works in your favor as far as skin protection. The top of your cheekbones is a prime spot for sun damage, so a pair of sunglasses that covers the area is a wonderful aid in keeping the area wrinkle and age spot free.

I also really like the white colored frames. There is something so fresh, crispy, and summery about white frames. Do you remember the last scene in Gwenyth Paltrow’s Great Expectations? Her oversized white frames exuded classic preppy chic. They also come in black if you want a more classic look.

While I use sunglasses everyday that there is the slightest of sun peaking out (over my sunscreen that I wear rain or shine, of course), these sunglasses are a must for vacations to sunny locales. Did you read that fantastic article about Italy in Allure this month? How amazing would these glasses look as you spend the day on the gorgeous Italian coast?

Lot Fancy makes a great pair of sunglasses at a reasonable cost, and the UV400 protection rivals $200 pairs of sunglasses. So whether you are looking for an everyday pair or an extra pair for the beach, these are worth picking up!.

I-Max Stem Cell Cream

July 2, 2016 · 6 Comments

I-Max Stem Cell Cream

I-Max Stem Cell Cream

Stem Cell is an ingredient often mentioned in the discussion of anti-aging skin care products. These Stem Cells kick-start and assist in collagen production, so they are especially useful when paired with a Vitamin C serum or a Retinol product.

Personally, I like to team this Stem Cell cream with my Vitamin C Serum and use it after a peel. The reason I like to use it with my Vitamin C serum is the kind of stem cells in this cream, which are from Gardenias, are geared towards collagen production AND the protection of existing collagen. This Gardenia based Stem Cell is almost exclusively found in very expensive creams. This works nicely with the Vitamin C production caused by my Vitamin C serum. I also like to use this cream the day after a peel to help my skin rebuild and to stay hydrated and protected.

APPEARANCE OF SKIN AFTER APPLICATION
It does smooth out surface wrinkles and dryness on contact and makes skin appear dewy. It feels good to slather on a whole scoopful and massage the skin, but actually, only a small amount is needed. Allow adequate time for dry down before applying sunscreen or makeup. There is an excellent protective barrier that is not too thick or greasy, but it is useful after a peel or sunburn to protect the skin.

It is an open mouth jar, so I like that it comes with a little spatula so that I can keep it contaminant–free. And the small amount on the spatula is all I need for my face, about the same amount for my throat.

SUPPORTING INGREDIENTS
In addition to the Gardenia Stem Cells, there are several supporting ingredients.

Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Jojoba and Sunflower Oils help to soothe and moisturize skin.

Retinol works with collagen production.

Propolis is a bee by-product, or “bee glue” that bees use to seal honeycombs. So a heads up if you are allergic to honey, this may not be the product for you. But Propolis is great in anti-aging skin care to heal and maintain skin.

CONCLUSION:
An emollient cream that soaks into the skin and provides a hydrating protective barrier suitable for teaming with serums and for post-peel use. The gardenia stem cells provide a unique triple collagen increasing approach that is especially difficult to find in an organic cream.
