Sephora.com has a new skincare line called Algenist, sold exclusively by Sephora. Born out of a renewable energy project, the biotech scientists of Algenist realized that a compound (alguronic acid) that protects microalgae cells would also protect and renew skin cells – and as any La Mer fan can tell you, seaweed and algae do wonders for the skin.
Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer
The line consists of a Serum, a Moisturizer with SPF, a regular Moisturizer, and an Eye Balm. Comprehensive and straight-forward.
I’d be inclined to give the line a try. The science makes sense, and it seems like it would be especially effective for those of us in the “wait – is that the beginning of a wrinkle?????” stage.

NARS Illuminator in Copacabana
NARS has added to their Illuminator line some great shades including the perfectly pearlized Copacabana. As much as we love the Multiples for their versatility, there is something amazing about subtle and quick look of the NARS illuminators. The colors are perfect for layering, and Copacabana is a great pinky-pearlized sheen for highlighting cheekbones, forehead, chin, browbones, and down the middle of the nose. The slightly liquidy texture makes it easy to blend and the lightness of the formula is ideal for on the go makeup – if a bit strays out of the intended area, it’s no big deal.

There is a trend towards bold, orange lips. Really bold. The look can be dramatic and fun, but it isn’t for everyone or for everyday. If you would like a tamer look, try a mango stain instead. It’s distinct and youthful, but very wearable. We like Stila Lip & Cheek Stain Mango Crush. One layer (pictured below) gives a nice mango colored tint, two coats give a vibrant pinky-mango hue.

Benefit Cosmetics Finding Mr. BrightI love adding brightness to the skin, be it on bare skin or with makeup. Stephanie from Benefit Cosmetics has a great Youtube tutorial on using the products in the Benefit Mr. Bright kit – pay particular attention to her techniques – once I had the makeup artist at my local Benefit counter show me these tricks, using the products became so much easier!
