Since it’s National Walking Day, I thought I’d share a couple of the good products I’ve been using in my workout routine of late. The first is Sprit2Spirit’s Magnesium Oil.
I was unfamiliar with Magnesium Oil until reading about it recently. It isn’t a true oil, but it has an oily consistency and it feels like massage oil when you apply it. But once you rub it in it the skin won’t retain an oily feel – it feels more like a serum that didn’t completely absorb for the first few minutes, but it didn’t transfer to my clothes and after a few minutes it stopped feeling sticky at all. Since the two ingredients in Spirit2Spirit’s are Magnesium and Aloe Vera, I think the stickiness has more to do with the Aloe than the Magnesium. Either way, it isn’t that big of an issue, it just needs time to absorb.
In my previous reading I learned that it is important to use a Magnesium Oil that is sourced from a spot that has a high grade magnesium. Spirit2Spirit’s Magnesium Oil comes from the Dead Sea, so it is indeed high grade. Ever taken a bath in Dead Sea Salts and wondered why your muscles felt so amazing after? Probably because of the level of magnesium.
I was a bit skeptical of topical magnesium being able to actually get into my system and have benefits. When I applied it after a workout for a few days, I started to notice a difference: muscles weren’t cramping and I generally felt better. My legs didn’t hurt as much after some pretty intense leg workouts. I was definitely impressed.
Comparing it to post-workout gels and creams, I definitely prefer Spirit2Spirit Magnesium Oil. No odor, no greasiness, and it is all natural. It can also be used a light deodorant – great if you want a little extra freshness after your workout.
If you have any health issue or are on any medications, be sure to talk to you doctor about this. Transdermal supplementation still is a delivery system, so if you wouldn’t take magnesium supplements, be cautious about a transdermal system. Really, view anything you put on your skin as getting into your body.
