WHAT WE LOVE

We particularly like how this liner does double duty as a waterproof liner and lash enhancer. Castor oil is well known to condition lashes, but it is so thick that it is often difficult to apply it directly to the lash root or not inadvertently get it into the eye. But when castor is in an eyeliner, it works out perfectly to enhance lash growth and as a long-wearing eyeliner.

Why It Is Special

Le Vesque CBD Luxe Face Cream is an all natural, luxurious face cream. It addresses aging and skin imperfections. This cream combines CBD with natural anti-aging, restorative and refining skincare ingredients. The result? Younger, smoother and more vibrant skin.

You’ve probably seen CBD Skincare trending at beauty boutiques. But before investing in any luxury face cream, it is worth fully investigating if the primary active ingredient meets your skincare needs.

Le Vesque uses Full Spectrum CBD oil. This has some distinct advantages.

Le Vesque CBD Luxe Face Cream contains full-spectrum CBD

Le Vesque CBD Luxe Face Cream contains full-spectrum CBD, a superior CBD for skincare

What is Full Spectrum CBD Oil?

Cbd

CBD stands for cannabidiol.  It comes in a few forms. CBD isolate is when just the cannabidiol is extracted from the plant, generally using harsh chemicals that strip the beneficial terpenes. Full-spectrum CBD oil contains all the beneficial compounds found in hemp, but without the psychoactive properties. It contains Cannabigerol, AKA CBG. CBG is a skin-care workhorse. CBG kills bacteria, reduces inflammation, and treats skin problems like psoriasis. CBG is difficult to extract, so a Full-spectrum CBD is a great way to get CBG benefits. [1] It also contains all the anti-oxidants. But most importantly, Full-spectrum CBD oil is packed with skin-friendly cannabidiol. And it contains very, very low traces of THC. It won’t get you high or make you feel altered.

Differentiating CBD, Hemp Seed oil & Cannabis Sativa seed oil

While they all come from the same plant, Hemp Seed oil or Cannabis Sativa seed oil isn’t the same thing as CBD oil. CBD oil is extracted from hemp leaves and flowers. It’s a light oil that absorbs quickly. I would compare CBD Oil to Hemi-Squalene in viscosity. Hemp Seed Oil is thicker, heavier and greasier, more like Olive or Avocado. Hemp seed oil only contains trace amounts of cannabidiol. While Hemp oil is useful, it isn’t as restorative or effective as cannabidiol-rich CBD. CBD has many anti-aging and skin restorative benefits. Cannabidiol reduces:

  • Inflammation, including inflammation due to chronic inflammatory conditions [2,3]
  • Acne
  • Skin sensitivity
  • Wrinkles
  • Skin dullness
  • Ruddy skin tone
  • Excess sebum [4]
  • Eczema and Psorarsis [5]

CBD Oil comes from Cannabis Sativa Le Vesque products contain only USA-grown CBD that’s C02 extracted and third party tested.

Loaded with natural skin-enhancing ingredients

In addition to the highly restorative Full Spectrum CBD, Le Vesque CBD Infused Luxe Face Cream contains fantastic anti-aging, texture-refining ingredients. They work together to improve skin texture, clarity, and structure, while offering superior hydration.  Let’s take a look.

INGREDIENT PROFILE

Green Algae Extract refines and detoxifies the skin

Algae Extract

Algae Extract is packed with skin essential vitamins and minerals.  It conditions, hydrates, softens, detoxifies skin while refining texture. The amino acids neutralize free-radicals while improving skin barrier function. Polyphenols offer anti-aging benefits. [6]

CBD comes from hemp

Full Spectrum Hemp-Derived CBD Oil

Full Spectrum Hemp-Derived CBD Oil comes from the Cannabis sativa plant. It is restorative. CBD Oil is high in Omega-3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. It is also high in Vitamins A, E, and D. [7]

The Omegas and Vitamin D give skin a lovely glow! The Cannabidiol in CBD is an excellent anti-inflammatory that helps soothe acne. [8]

As this is a full-spectrum CBD, it contains Cannabigerols. CBG is exceptionally restorative, even on sun-damaged skin. This cream contains 200mg of CBD.

Mangifera Indic

Mango

Mango

Mangifera Indica is Mango. The Mango Seed Butter in this formulation provides a long-lasting emollient. Rich in fatty acids, it is perfect to keep skin hydrated and dewy overnight. Mango is high in copper. Copper builds Collagen, Elastin and increases Hyaluronic Acid production within the skin. Copper is rare within skincare products because extraction is costly. A natural ingredient high in copper is a great addition to this formulation! Mango Seed Butter also contains Vitamins C, A, E, K and B6. These refine the skin and fade discoloration.

Glycerin

Vegetable-based Glycerin is a natural humectant. It attracts and retains moisture in the skin.

Grapefruit PeelCitrus Grandis

Citrus Grandis is Grapefruit, in this case, Grapefruit Peel Oil. Grapefruit Peel Oil is high in collagen-producing Vitamin C. It has antibacterial benefits and studies show it reduces acne.[9] As with other citrus oils, it is an antioxidant with an uplifting scent.

Royal Jelly

10-Hydroxydecanoic Acid sounds like a chemical, but it is the extracted fat of royal jelly. Royal Jelly is the gelatinous substance bees make to feed the queen bee.   It enables wound healing and skin repair. [10]

Studies show Royal Jelly combats sun damage and has the capacity to promote collagen production. [11]

This anti-inflammatory anti-oxidant is filled with skin-friendly nutrients. It smooths fine lines and wrinkles.

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract

Camellia Sinensis Leaf are the leaves of Green Tea. Green tea contains polyphenols that soothe skin while providing antioxidants. Polyphenols may improve sun-damaged skin. [12]

High in Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), green tea promotes skin health and appearance. It protects against environmental damage and neutralizes free radicals that prematurely age skin. Research shows EGCG reactivates dying skin cells. This shows promise for repairing sun damage and scar healing. [13]

Retinyl Palmitate

Retinyl Palmitate is a form of Vitamin A. This antioxidant found naturally in our skin. Retinyl Palmitate helps with wrinkles and fine lines. It promotes cell regeneration. It also boosts collagen production to make skin look younger and plumper.

Vitamin A’s can cause some topical skin irritation. The omegas in the CBD and other buffering ingredients within this formulation ensure that it will not cause peeling or irritate the skin. If your skin is too sensitive to tolerate retinol, consider this formulation as a viable option.

Cetearyl Olivate

Cetearyl Olivate is a combination of the ester of Cetearyl Alcohol and the fatty acids from Olives. It is not drying because Cetearyl Olivate is moisture attracting and retaining. Olive oil fatty acids have skin-enhancing Omega-3s and polyphenols. These make skin glow! Cetearyl Olivate will not clog pores.

Sorbitan Olivate

Sorbitan Olivate is a combination of the fatty acids of olives and a fruit-based sugar alcohol. It is commonly paired with Cetearyl Olivate to lend a creamy consistency. Moisturizing.

Vitis Vinifera

Vitis Vinifera is Grape Seed Oil. Grapeseed Oil on StyleChicksGrape Seed Oil is nourishing to the skin and contains building blocks for collagen production. Grape Seed Oil contains very high antioxidant levels to protect the skin against UV damage.

High in Polyphenols, Vitamins C, D, E and Omega 6, it treats dry skin, wrinkles, discoloration, and aging.

Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides

Capric Triglyceride naturally occurs in palm kernel or coconut oil. It is a mixed ester composed of caprylic and capric fatty acids attached to glycerin.

Coconut Oil

Capric Triglyceride from Coconut Oil

Caprylic/capric triglyceride is a natural skin replenishing emollient that creates a barrier on the skin’s surface, which helps to reduce skin dryness by decreasing the loss of moisture. [14]

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is one of the cleanest ingredients with no reported toxicity, it is safe enough to be food grade.

What It Is

A CBD based body lotion full of high-caliber, skin-loving ingredients.

why it is special

Le Vesque’s signature ingredient, a high-quality Full-Spectrum CBD, works synergistically with other natural ingredients to make healthy, glowing skin.   Le Vesque products contain only USA-grown CBD that’s C02 extracted and third-party tested. And it’s cruelty-free.

Full-spectrum CBD does not contain components to give a “high” or altered sensation. What it does have is natural beauty benefits, including the ability to relieve dry skin, eczema and psoriasis. [1]

Many CBD lotions have a hempy, masculine smell. We love Le Vesque CBD Luxe Body Lotion because it smells of invigorating grapefruit, not hemp!

In addition to a high-quality Full-Spectrum CBD, this lotion has an especially impressive combination of ingredients.

Algae nourishes and soothes skin

Algae Extract

Algae is chock-full of skin-friendly vitamins, minerals and nutrients.

Algae Extract as emollients, soothing agents, or antioxidants.

Algae extract contains  polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are sugar-chains vital for maintaining skin structure. [4]

Algae breaks down with light exposure. Fortunately CBD Luxe Body Lotion comes in protective opaque packaging.

Royal Jelly

10-Hydroxydecanoic Acid is an extraction from a fatty acid in Royal Jelly.

Royal Jelly is what bees make for the Queen and queen larvae to eat. It is a white creamy substance containing B vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, enzymes and minerals.

This anti-inflammatory anti-oxidant fights infections. Research shows royal jelly increases fibroblast action to promote wound healing. [5] It also heals acne, scars, and scrapes.

Meanwhile, Royal Jelly has anti-aging properties and smooths the appearance of wrinkles. [6]

Royal Jelly

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract

Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract is Green Tea.

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Green tea contains polyphenols that soothe skin while providing antioxidants. Polyphenols may improve sun-damaged skin. [7] It contains phenols to strengthen collagen and elastin.

Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract also contains EGCG. Research shows EGCG enables the production of new cells in the epidermis and reactivates dying skin cells.  [8] This shows promise for repairing sun damage and scar healing.  [9]  EGCG is a potent antioxidant. It protects against environmental damage and neutralizes free radicals that prematurely age skin.

As a topical ingredient, it evens the skin tone. It is anti-inflammatory that reduces redness and inflammation around the delicate eye area.

Simmondsia Chinensis

Simmondsia Chinesis is Jojoba Seed Oil.

It has a similar structure to sebum, replacing the natural oils which the skin needs to stay healthy. It regulates oily skin, removes impurities and flakes, reduces inflammation and soothes skin. Jojoba is soothing to the skin and softens wrinkles. Jojoba oil is an emollient, made of 98% monounsaturated fats.

Jojoba is a carrier oil, increasing the efficacy of other active ingredients.

Jojoba Seed Oil

Jojoba Seed Oil

Cetearyl Olivate

Olive fatty acids deeply hydrate

Cetearyl Olivate is the fatty acid of Olives combined with a Cetearyl alcohol ester. A very safe ingredient that emulsifies active ingredients together within a moisturizer. It is a natural alternative to PEG.

Cetearyl attracts and binds moisture.  Cetearyl alcohol is one of the “good” alcohols that soften, soothe and heal dry skin. It is an emollient.

Olive fatty acids contains Omegas 3 and 6, and polyphenols. Polyphenols are antioxidants that protect skin cells from oxidative damage.

Within a formulation it is not greasy like olive oil but retains the benefits.

The olive fatty acids give deep hydration, smooth skin and give the product a silky texture.

Sorbitan Olivate

A combination of fatty acids from Olive Oil plus an ester of sugar. Olive Oil fatty acid contains the highly emollient squalene. It also contains oleic and palmitic acids.

It contains Linoleic acid which has an anti-inflammatory effect. It hydrates skin to help stop wrinkle formation.

Olive fatty acids within a product base, such as this one, is superior because it gives olive benefits without the greasiness. It gives a product slip without being greasy or clogging pores.

Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter

Mango

A highly emoillent It’s rich in oleic acid (an omega-9 acid); and the saturated fatty acid stearic acid.

These moisturize, tighten, plump and firm the skin. It provides long-lasting moisture.

Mango is also rich in A & C to refine the skin.

CITRUS Grandis

Citrus Grandis, commonly known as Grapefruit Peel Oil, is high in collagen-producing Vitamin C.

It has antibacterial benefits and studies show it reduces acne.[10]

As with other citrus oils, it is an antioxidant with an uplifting scent.

Glycerin attracts moisture

Glycerin

Vegetable-based Glycerin is a natural, non-toxic, vegan-friendly humectant.

It attracts and retains water in the skin while supporting other active ingredients. It fills in gaps in dryer skin which makes skin look better and keeps the outer layer of the skin intact.

Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides

Style Chicks review of ROIL private collection body wash. Glossary of Skin and Hair Terms. Borage glossary definition on StyleChicks.com

Coconut Oil

A fraction of coconut or palm oil fatty acids combined with glycerin. It gives a product a rich feel and creates a silky appearance when applied to the skin.   Caprylic/capric triglyceride creates a barrier on the skin’s surface to reduce moisture loss and address dryness.  [11]It can make greasy ingredients leave a non-greasy finish. A gentle ingredient.

Tocopherol

A protective antioxidant that lessens discoloration.  Tocopherol makes damaged skin soft and pliable again while reducing wrinkle and fine line formation.

An impressive line-up, isn’t it? But even great ingredients can underperform if they are chemically processed. Le Vesque uses no chemicals and a clean harvesting method: CO2 extraction.

CLEAN CBD & CO2 EXTRACTION

The CBD in this formulation is harvested by CO2 Extraction. CO2 Extraction is a green technology which retains all the natural properties while eliminating any heavy metals and pesticides. CO2 Extraction doesn’t pollute the environment.

CBD is sometimes extracted by using harsh chemicals. This is cheaper and faster. But it strips many of the wonderful natural healing properties of CBD.

If you are using a CBD skin product that doesn’t impress you, then the CBD may be inferior and a cheaper, chemically extracted variant.

Clean Luxury Lipstick Alert: Madame Gabriela Beauty

March 24, 2020 · 18 Comments

Many of us seek clean skincare and eat healthily. But do we still slather our lips with chemical-laden lipstick? Probably because many “clean” lipsticks leave much to be desired in texture, color choice, and packaging. So we are pleased to introduce a brand that caters to our desire for a luxe lipstick with treating, clean ingredients. This brand is Madame Gabriela Beauty. It has an exceptionally smooth finish held in a sleek and chic lipstick case.

Madame Gabriela Clean Luxury Lipsticks

Brand Overview

Madame Gabriela Beauty is a clean-cosmetic lipstick with ingredients typically found in skincare or a luxe lip treatment.  It is an ingredient-driven lipstick that has a luxury lipstick look, texture and feel.

There is much to say about this lipstick range: the experience, the shades, the wear, and our a full ingredient profile. These lipsticks are truly 100% clean.*

The Experience

I love natural lipstick but I am frequently disappointed with shade selection and texture.

Many clean and natural lip cosmetics are, in our opinion, overly brown or yellow-based hues. These muted shades are lovely on redheads and warmer skin tones, but they don’t work as well with fairer or pink-based undertones. At least not for us.

Natural ingredient lipsticks also tend to be very waxy and dry or overly soft and runny.  I require high performance and definition.

So we were delighted to discover Madame Gabriela Beauty has mastered high performance, clean lippies in cooler tones with impressive color payout.

And these lipsticks have such a smooth, silky finish.

We were particularly impressed with these lipsticks using ONLY ingredients that are clean and safe but are cleverly formulated so that there are no compromises in quality. The texture is excellent.

They are not waxy or watery. They have good wear time and don’t make my lips look or feel dry. There is no compromise to achieve a clean product.

The shades

There are three shades:

  • New York at 1 PM a bright cheery pink
  • Paris at 7 PM is a classic true red pigment
  • Sydney at 8 AM a lightweight nude

Madame Gabriella Beauty Lipsticks Comes in three shades

✽

Paris at 7 PM

Sydney at 8 AM

Madame Gabriela Sydney at 8 AM is a pink undertone nude suited to pale to medium-dark skin tones. Just warm enough without being too dark or orange, yet not too gray or beige.

It does not oxidize into a brown or bleached out foundation tint look after a few hours of wear.

New York at 1 PM

Madame Gabriela New York at 1 PM is a cheery blue base pink.

A classic wearable pink is hard to find. I am always attracted to pink lipsticks, but rarely find the shade I like on my lips.

This shade has color payout without appearing too garish. It is not Shocking Schiaparelli pink, but it is not ballerina bare or teenage bubble gum either. Polished and glam like its’ namesake. Madame Gabriela New York at 1 PM is a bright cheery pink perfect for spring and summer.

The Ingredients

Take look at this impressive formulation of this Ingredient Driven Lipstick:

Ingredient Profile

Manuka Honey

Organic Manuka honey holds minor natural lip plumping abilities.

Manuka Honey in Madame Gabriella Beauty

A softening humectant, Manuka Honey has healing, protecting and hydrating properties. It fights free radicals and is an anti-aging, boosting collagen production and cellular regeneration.

Style Chicks Glossary of Skin and Hair Terms. Algae glossary definition on StyleChicks.com

Avocado

Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil*

Organic Avocado Oil is 72% monounsaturated fatty acids. This is higher than Coconut or Grapeseed oils. Avocado Oil mixes with water better than other oils. Avocado oil decreases dryness and improves skin texture. Rich in Omegas 3 and 6, Vitamins C,D, and E, Avocado Oil promotes scar healing and collagen production.[1]

Few oils can soften and reduce the appearance of vertical lip wrinkles like Avocado can. It gives this lipstick a smoother application and finish.

Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil

Sesame Seed Oil softens the skin. Rich in linoleic acid, vitamins A an E, it rids the skin of dry flakes. Sesame Oil is ideal for sensitive, irritated lip skin.

Sesame Seed Oil has a very thick and rich texture. It absorbs exceptionally well and seeps into the skin, making it soft and silky.

Sesame Seeds

Cocoa Seed

Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*

Cocoa Seed Butter contains a significant amount of polyphenol and flavonoid antioxidants. It prevents peeling lip skin and keeps lip skin elastic.

Matricaria Recutita (Chamomile) Flowers*

Chamomile is a gentle antioxidant with potent skin-soothing action. [2]

Castor Seed Oil

Castor Seed

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*

Organic Castor Oil is a humectant. It draws moisture into the skin, hydrating while serving as a subtle lip plumper. It softens skin with its’ high Vitamin E content.

Castor Oil is typically too thick and sticky to apply directly to the lips, but in this lipstick formulation, it works effectively with no residue or unpleasant scent.

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*

Organic Sunflower Seed Oil Sunflower is hydrating, nourishing and an excellent “supporting” oil base. It retains moisture in the skin and is rich in vitamin E.

The Linoleic acid gives sunflower seed oil anti-inflammatory properties, provides a lipid barrier and is a natural treatment for atopic dermatitis. [3]

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*

Shea butter definition at StyleChicks.com Defining Beauty Glossary

Shea Butter

Organic Shea Butter can feed the skin and overhaul the skin texture, even on deep burns or dry, cracked lips.

Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer

Brassica Campestris is an emollient antioxidant that is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

A combination of two natural oils that provide a soft and smooth finish and help form a “film” for product staying power.

Bamboo

Bambusa Arundinacea (Bamboo) Stem Extract

Bamboo Stem Extract has flavones, a source of natural antioxidants. Since the skin on lips is a major target of oxidative stress, the antioxidant protection provided by bamboo extract is excellent within this formulation.[4]

Bamboo extract contains glycosides, phenolic acids, and amino acids. These hold skin nourishing and soothing properties.

Bamboo extract is also hydrating, supporting other ingredients like Manuka Honey.[5, 6]

Thyme in bloom

Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Leaf*

Thyme has skin protective properties, including some UVA and UVB protection.

High in anti-oxidants it is a skin anti-ager.

Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf*

Rosemary

Rosemary combats dry skin. It naturally protects skin from sun damage and free radicals. It also has natural antiseptic properties and is a gentle exfoliant for dead skin flakes to keep lips smooth.

Rosemary Extract is soothing and helps reduce puffiness and lightens dark spots. It is stimulating and promotes better blood circulation to deliver the nutrients necessary to build collagen, elastin and to encourage scar repair.

Ylang-Ylang Ingredient Definition on StyleChicks.com

Ylang-Ylang

Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Flowers

Ylang Ylang softens and smoothes skin and stimulates new cell growth. It soothes inflammation and irritation due to skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. [7]

Tocopherol

Tocopherol is a form of Vitamin E derived from vegetable oils. It is a moisturizing and skin softening antioxidant.

Bergamot

Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Peel Oil*

Citrus Aurantium Bergamia, better known as Bergamot has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Linalool and carvacrol are compounds in bergamot oil. Both are excellent anti-inflammatories for dry, chapped lips.[8]

Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Essential Oil*

Organic Orange Oil is an antioxidant that reduces inflammation. It improves collagen production resulting in the reduction of dark spots and wrinkles.

Collagen production is especially important on lips that quickly show age and deflate with time.

Research-Backed Clean Luxury Beauty: Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil

February 26, 2020 · 15 Comments

Watercress is an unsung skin hero. It is packed with skin-nourishing, rejuvenating nutrients. We love Watercress because it enhances collagen III (baby collagen) AND elastin. So we’re over the moon to learn of a Watercress-based beauty oil: Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil. This oil contains decadently nutritive, organic ingredients. Research studies show these ingredients each support skin rejuvenation.
Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil has a watercress base.

Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil has a watercress base.

Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil is the beauty brainchild of Sacred Mama Organics founder Judy Beserra. This organic oil packs in beauty powerhouses like Pomegranate, Royal Jelly, Abyssinian Seed and Rosehip Oils. The true star of this oil, however, is “baby collagen”-making Watercress.

Watercress is a secret anti-aging weapon.

Watercress is a secret anti-aging weapon.

Wonderful, Wonderful Watercress

Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil is a non-comedogenic Watercress-based oil. It is suitable for daily use and beauty emergencies.

We previously posted exciting skincare research identifying the exact mechanism of the skin resiliency changes that cause rougher skin and overall skin aging. The study cited that Watercress reverses these skin issues by promoting Collagen III production in the dermal cells. Collagen III is known as baby collagen because it is plentiful at birth but diminishes with age.  Collagen III must regenerate in the dermal cells of the papillary dermis skin layer to reverse signs of aging. [1] Watercress can do this.

Watercress also contains many skin-enhancing nutrients. One example is copper. Copper builds both collagen and elastin.

Elastin gives skin its’ springy, vibrant, youthful bounce. Elastin is as important as collagen, but fewer products address elastin restoration. And even fewer restore the collagen and elastin fibers in the dermal cells.

Watercress is only one of the many skin-enhancing ingredients in this amazing formulation.

These ingredients are natural, safe and backed by many independent research studies. Let’s take a look.
