About Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp Seeds

Hemp Seeds

Hemp Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. Hemp Seed Oil doesn’t contain the same compounds as the plant, but still has the nutrients and fatty acids.  These include essential amino acids, omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, Vitamin E and minerals.

Food-grade Hemp Seed Oil contains no THC or only trace levels. THC is the compound associated with the cannabis “high”.

Ways to use Hemp Seed Oil

Prime Natural Organic Hemp Seed Oil is a pure, food-grade Hemp Seed Oil and can both be taken orally or applied topically.

ORAL: Hemp Seed Oil is a complete plant-based protein source. It contains all the essential amino acids (methionine, cysteine, arginine and glutamic acid).  The body doesn’t produce essential amino acids and must get them from food. Add one teaspoon to juice, yogurt or a smoothie*. Amino Acids are necessary for heart, energy, metabolism, and healthy hair growth. It also contains Omegas 3, 6 and 9.

TOPICAL: Hemp Seed Oil can be applied to hair, skin, and nails as a restorative treatment. Hemp Seed Oil can also be mixed with a carrier oil. Our favorite use of Hemp Seed Oil, of course, is for skin and hair benefits.

Why use Hemp Seed Oil for Skin

TREAT SKIN CONDITIONS: Hemp Seed Oils fatty acid profile is highly beneficial for the skin. It protects the skin barrier and treats several skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and acne. Hemp seed oil is a good source of polyunsaturated and essential fatty acids. These relieve dry skin and itchiness without skin medication. To treat, apply Hemp Seed Oil directly to the affected area and repeat as needed until the skin clears.

Treat acne with Hemp Seed Oil and reduce inflammation

ACNE: Studies show Hemp Seed Oil regulates sebum production and can reduce even severe acne breakouts while calming existing acne inflammation. [1]

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: Skin inflammation is a precursor to skin aging and wrinkles. Hemp seed oil is a good source of polyunsaturated and essential fatty acids. It has about a 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3, which helps reduce inflammation.

SOFTENS SKIN: The Vitamin E softens skin and keeps it pliable.

STRENGTHENS SKIN: The abundance of fatty acids nourish and protect from inflammation, oxidation, both of which cause skin aging.

Why Use Hemp Seed Oil for Hair

REDUCE HAIR BREAKAGE: Want longer or stronger hair?  Omegas are necessary to stimulate keratin production to grow and maintain hair. Keratin loss leads to hair breakage. Hemp Seed Oil contains gamma-linoleic acid, which helps hair retain moisture. Hemp Seed Oil applied to the length of the hair helps prevent hair breakage.

SCALP HYDRATOR: Using Hemp Seed Oil for a scalp massage nourishes the hair follicle. Hemp Seed Oil also helps the scalp stay hydrated. Hydrated scalps produce healthier hair.

MY EXPERIENCE

USE:

SKIN: Prime Natural Organic Hemp Seed Oil does not clog pores and absorbs easily into my skin without a sticky residue.

HAIR: I rub 1/2 dropper of oil between my palms and apply down the length of my hair as a pre-poo treatment. Leave it on for a few minutes or a few hours. It leaves my brittle hair feeling softer and stronger with less breakage. Omegas are excellent for hair and scalp health.

SCENT: It has a light and nutty scent (and flavor).

APPEARANCE: Prime Natural Hemp Seed Oil is a beautiful golden color!
