Get your glow on with Ready to Glow

Ready to Glow gives a soft, supple look and feel to skin

Ready to Glow gives a soft, supple look and feel to skin

The Experience

One pump is enough for face and throat. Nicely emollient on my chapped lips. There is a very light, pleasant scent of fresh plums, perhaps a hint of apricot.

It absorbs and leaves a finish more like a cream than an oil, I am not greasy at all.  Sunscreen and makeup can be applied immediately without piling or running. Mixing a few drops of Ready to Glow with my foundation gives a soft, luminous look.

While intended for face AND body, there is such good ingredients, we use it primarily on face, throat and décolletage. It also works well on hands and dry cuticles. It absorbs exceptionally well. It is drier than hemi-squalene oil, so if you chose to use it on body and legs, you would not have to wait to dry down before getting dressed.

My skin looks supple after use, not “wet”.

TIP: Try it with your Gua Sha tools, it gives the perfect slip!

Celebrating World Bee Day With Epionce

May 20, 2022 · Leave a Comment

It is World Bee Day! Hurray to our industrious flying friends! We know bees give us skincare benefits from honey, but there is also beauty benefits to beeswax. So we celebrate World Bee Day by featuring Epionce, a brand that puts beeswax to good beauty use in a range of medical-grade, botanically-based products for remarkable skincare.

Epionce and Beeswax

Epionce uses beeswax in its’ product range. What is so special about beeswax?

The Buzz About Beeswax

Beeswax is a bee by-product made from the honeycomb of the honeybee.

Beeswax is best known for its’ ability to soften the skin, such as chapped lips.  But beeswax is much more than a natural lip balm.

Beeswax has an occlusive quality to provide a barrier while retaining moisture. It protects from irritants and acts as a long-lasting protective barrier layer from environmental irritants and extreme weather.

It is an anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory.

Packed with vitamin A, beeswax helps with healing, stimulates cell turnover, protects against UV radiation, and fights against the free radicals that cause premature signs of aging.

Thank you, bees!

What The Experts Say

Dr. Thornfeldt, Clinical Dermatologist and Founder of Episciences, and creator of Epionce, totally gets the potential of beeswax within botanically-based skincare.

Here is what Dr. Thornfeldt and other researchers have to say about the impact of beeswax on skin:

“Beeswax is a natural humectant with protective wax esters to help draw and lock in moisture, keeping skin hydrated, firm, and plump”

“Beeswax provides a natural, gentle exfoliation to keep you soft and smooth.”
“It soothes irritated skin making it an excellent choice as a healing skincare ingredient.”
“the perfect balance of nourishment to calm skin, keep it bacteria free, along with healing wounds and fighting infection.“

Beeswax is especially important in the care of our skin barrier.

Most anti-aging topicals are aggressive: retinols, aHAs, Vitamin C. They can disrupt the skin barrier with their drying, peeling side effects. But care for our skin barrier goes beyond dry skin concerns. Our skin barrier must be maintained and protected.

Why Protect Our Skin Barrier

OUR SKIN HAS SEEN SOME THINGS. BAD THINGS.

Research shows environmental stressors are a significant oxidative factor, damaging our skin barrier and accelerating skin aging.[1]

European environmental scientists concluded that air pollution, UV radiation, frigid temperatures, dust, dry air, tobacco smoke exposure, and even our cosmetics and skincare take a collective toll on the skin.[2]

It is imperative to keep our skin barrier intact. Studies also show air pollution makes skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, even worse. [3]

Wonderful Watercress: The Collagen and Elastin Supporting Skincare Superhero

August 22, 2021 · Leave a Comment

Watercress works wonders. Read a short synopsis of the science behind how watercress encourages collagen and elastin production for younger, firmer skin
Watercress supports collagen and elastin within the skin

Watercress supports collagen and elastin within the skin

We obsess about Collagen in our skincare regimens, and rightly so. Collagen is the scaffold of our skin, keeping it firm and wrinkle-free. Skin with more collagen has smaller pores and fewer wrinkles.  But our skin can be devoid of these tell-tale signs of aging yet still not look YOUNG.

What is the secret of youthful skin? Collagen AND Elastin. How do you increase both Collagen and Elastin in your skin? By slathering Watercress all over it.

Watercress boosts collagen and elastin

Watercress boosts collagen and elastin

The Science of Watercress

Watercress, also known as Nasturtium Officinale, is a tiny plant with big beauty benefits.

A groundbreaking skincare study showed Watercress uniquely promotes Collagen III in the dermal cells of the papillary dermis skin layer. [1] Collagen III is known as “baby collagen” – it is the type we lose as we age.

Watercress also builds Elastin. Elastin gives skin its’ youthful bounce. The same study found that the more elastin skin has, the smoother skin looks. But as skin loses elastin, it becomes dull and rough.

Enhanced collagen levels ALSO increase skin elasticity. And together, they make skin taut, resilient, and radiant.

Watercress is also an antioxidant full Vitamins A, C, E, K, and notably, Copper. [2]

Watercress boosts collagen and elastin

Watercress promotes Collagen III – the type of collagen we lose as we age.

The Key Nutrients in Watercress

Watercress contains Copper which has an amazing ability to restore elastin in the skin.

Elastin gives skin its’ youthful bounce and the ability to spring back.  Few ingredients support elastin as copper does. Copper peptides promote collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production within the skin. All three are vital for skin firmness, texture, radiance, and appearance.

Copper extraction is costly, which often makes it costly in skincare products. Watercress is an excellent way to get topical copper in your skincare program. Read more about how copper benefits the skin here.

The Vitamin K in Watercress reduces brown and blue-tinged under-eye dark circles caused by leaking capillaries. As we age, we tend to get more broken capillaries, resulting in red and brown heme pooled under the skin. Vitamin K strengthens these capillaries so they are more resistant to breakage.

Watercress also contains Vitamins A and C to fight free radicals.

Elastin Facts: What You Need to Know

  • Elastin is a protein found in skin and hair.
  • Elastin is paired collagen in the dermis skin layer and gives structural support to the skin. It is the stretchy structural proteins that allow the skin to snap back into place.
  • Elastin is especially vulnerable to sun damage.
  • Elastin is as important as collagen for the appearance of younger skin
  • Elastin can be replaced in the skin, but fewer products address the loss of skin elastin.

Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

March 7, 2021 · 1 Comment

Unlike most Vitamin C creams, Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream’s potent anti-aging punch is delivered in a formula that offers extreme hydration. And it comes with an adorable little bamboo spoon to hygienically scoop out just the right amount for face and throat. Check out the synergistic actives in this brilliant formulation.
Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

About Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream is filled with 19 synergistic actives!

It delivers three bio-available Vitamin C’s. This trio of Vitamin C addresses the full spectrum of what C has to offer.

The three Vitamin C’s are:

  • Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is ideal for sensitive skin. It is less exfoliating but produces collagen and suppresses discoloration.
  • Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate absorbs deeply and works well with other Cs.
  • Ascorbyl Glucoside is a stable C that offers antioxidant protection, collagen boosting, and fading hyperpigmentation.[1]

Along with this trio of C’s, Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream contains multiple anti-aging superstars such as Reishi and Cloudberry.

Cloudberry Cloudberry has four times the Vitamin C of an orange. It builds collagen, fights off attacks on collagen, reduces wrinkles, and hydrates.

The Experience

It is a rich, creamy, and spreadable texture that dries down smooth and not sticky or tacky.

The smooth texture of Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream is tempting to slather, but it is a treating cream, so just use the spoonful.

It does not sting, but when I applied it, I could tell it was potent.

Reishi mushroom

Reishi mushroom

Reishi mushroom promotes cell regeneration while reducing skin inflammation, puffiness, and wrinkles.

Best Use Tips & Tricks

Don’t layer other actives with Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream.

If you MUST add a top layer, make sure it is a cream with no extra treating actives. But there are plenty of soothing moisturizers in this formula so you likely will not need any secondary products with this cream.

Turmeric Turmeric extract is an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant that helps reduce and heal acne. It also reduces skin discoloration.
