FDA Cleared At-Home reVive Acne Treatment LED Light Therapy device

May 11, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Thought acne was done now that you’re over 21?  Think again.  Adult acne plagues many men and women. Light therapy is effective for quickly treating acne. Non-invasive and pain-free, light therapy is available in spas and dermatologist offices and also in cost-effective devices for at-home use. But not all at-home light therapy devices are created equal. So we’re excited to find the highly effective, FDA-cleared, medical grade ReVive Acne Treatment LED Light Therapy device.

ACNE CAN OCCUR AT ANY AGE

When you’re in your teens, you don’t mind if you dry out your skin with acne creams, skin bounces back. As an adult, battling acne and aging at the same time is daunting. What is worse, the topical products that worked in your teens aren’t that effective on adult acne, and they’re just too drying.

WHAT MAKES REVIVE ACNE LED LIGHT THERAPY DEVICE SUPERIOR TO OTHER AT-HOME DEVICES?

ReVive Acne Treatment LED Light Therapy is a superior LED Light Therapy that’s an FDA-cleared, OTC Class II medical grade device with DPL (Deep Penetrating Light) Technology providing in-office quality results at home. DPL technology sets this device apart from many of the at-home use devices because DPL can get deep into the skin like an in-office treatment does.

It is proven safe and effective for all skin tones, and in a clinical study, 98% of users had improved acne. I liked this feature because many skin care products cite studies of user reports, which are not as reliable. But reVive cites a clinical study with objective measures of efficacy for their results.

WHY LIGHT THERAPY FOR ACNE

Light encourages the body to heal. LED Light Therapy has been shown in studies to rapidly reduce acne. Blue light eliminates the bacteria on the skin, even in deeper skin layers, far deeper than can be reached with a washcloth or sonic facial cleansing brush. It’s painless with no side effects and you can continue to use your regular skincare products without a conflict.

WHY REVIVE LED LIGHT THERAPY

Has your acne ever looked better after a day of sun at the beach? All UV light kills bacteria but can cause other skin damage.  ReVive Acne LED Light Therapy uses only the specific wavelength of light that eliminates bacteria, 415 nanometers (non-UV) blue light spectrum, to target bacteria while not harming the skin.

Studies show the precise 415 nm wavelength of light used by the reVive is safe and effective for acne treatment

This wavelength of light attacks acne three ways. It kills acne-causing bacteria, it clears existing breakouts by starving the pimple, and it prevents acne flare-ups by regulating oil production. This quickly leads to clear skin, often within just a few days. It also reduces redness and inflammation, which makes acne so noticeable and difficult to conceal with makeup.

Safe for all skin tones, it will not alter the skin color. It is also safe for sensitive skin, which often has difficulties tolerating over the counter topical acne treatments.

It doesn’t dry the skin like a topical cream. And bonus, the light can enhance collagen production.

Revive is an FDA-cleared, over the counter, class II medical device. Another words, in-office results at home, safely.

That’s a lot of blue light! As a medical grade device, reVive treats a large area of skin in acne-reducing light therapy with powerful diodes

I prefer this device with it’s big head to some of the spot treatment smaller devices I have seen, especially in a modality that is intended to eliminate bacteria from the entire face to not just kill existing acne in small spot treatments, but to pre-empt future acne before it can start.

RESULTS

My skin performed on cue and a whitehead turned into a full-fledged pimple the day after the reVive device arrived.  It became our test case.

It quickly reduced the redness and inflammation in existing acne breakouts, which made them immediately easier to cover with concealer.  Normally, my acne stays red and inflamed for the duration of the blemishes’ miserable life, but the reVive removed the red after two sessions. I am very pleased with this since I have a tough time concealing acne very well.  It also shrunk down in size after one session and did not turn into the full-blown pimple disaster my lower cheek pimples typically tend to be.

Within about a week of daily ReVive Acne Treatment LED Light Therapy device use, my skin appeared much clearer with no major breakouts and even the stubborn blackheads around my nose are diminishing! Clear skin can be obtained with regular use.

CONCLUSION

The ReVive Acne Treatment LED Light Therapy (Clinical) is an FDA-cleared, OTC Class II medical grade device that features dpl® Technology which provides enhanced treatment efficacy, giving you in-office quality results at home in only a few minutes a day. It uses a safe wavelength of light that will not harm the skin and is a truly superior product compared to what is typically made available for at-home use. The large treatment head covers sizable portions of the face at once, bathing the face in blue light to treat existing acne and prevent future acne by killing acne-causing bacteria. ReVive makes acne treatable for any age or gender in the comfort of you own home in just a few minutes a day.

A wonderful tool in your beauty arsenal to help combat acne breakouts!

Beauty Gadgets: Lift Care Lift Wand Pro

June 27, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Lift Care Lift Wand Pro

Lift Care Lift Wand Pro

I’ve been on a beauty gadget binge lately. I was impressed by the other gadgets I have tried from Lift Care, so I am happy to have tried their flagship product, the Lift Wand Pro.

The Lift Wand Pro is a very powerful gadget. It is a high-frequency tool to clarify and refine the skin. After having used it a few times, I am thrilled with the results.

This tool treats a broad range of beauty woes, ranging from hair loss to acne to the signs of aging.

The underlying mechanism of high-frequency skincare is a)bringing circulation to the skin, and b)killing bacteria.

In addition to the seven high-frequency electrode attachments, the kit contains a 540-needle derma roller. I am a huge fan of derma rollers to increase collagen production. The one that comes with this kit is well made and precise. I use it twice a week, and I haven’t had any issues with pinpricks that led to bleeding. It gives my skin a lovely glow and smoothes out my skin.

There are seven electrode attachments to use with the device. Each has a gas inside it (I believe Argon) which emits a glow when the electric current reacts with it.

I found the hair comb electrode fascinating. It causes circulation to increase on your scalp (and therefore in your hair follicles) much the same way a peppermint shampoo would. There is also a tingle that goes along with this increase in circulation, also like peppermint shampoo has when it brings circulation to the scalp.

I had a recent weight loss, so I was eager to try out the body roller electrode to prevent sagging skin. This is more of a preventative step, but I was surprised (and thrilled) by how much tightening I have had on my upper arms. If you aren’t thrilled with how your arms look in short sleeves, this attachment makes the whole kit worth it!

Lift Care Lift Wand Pro Body Roller

The undereye (Spoon) attachment produces a peppy, wide awake look by tightening the undereye and bringing fluid-draining circulation to the area, great for late nights, early mornings, and allergy season!

The neck electrode is a powerful anti-aging tool and probably one of the most recognizable electrodes if you have gotten high-frequency facials in a spa. It improves circulation to the thin skin on the throat and tightens jowls. It makes a noticeable difference.

Lift Care Lift Wand Pro Neck Attachment

Lift Care Lift Wand Pro Neck Attachment

Next to the neck electrode, the most recognizable attachment would be the Face Electrode, commonly called a Mushroom Attachment in spas. By running this attachment over the face, skin is smoothed and left with a dewy, rosy glow to it.

Lift Care Lift Wand Pro Facial Electrode

Lift Care Lift Wand Pro Facial Electrode

The most impressive result for me came from the Acne Electrodes. One is for use behind the ears for sagging in the area and for acne, and the other is just for acne is areas like the nose. They are more powerful wands than the rest, with more concentrated energy than the rest of the electrodes. They work by killing bacteria and creates an environment that is unfavorable to acne. I had a few blemishes last week, two that were red and visible, a whitehead, and one that had not yet shown up on my skin, but I could feel forming under my skin. I followed the directions and lightly tapped the Acne Electrode on each of the blemishes a few times. They were each immediately tighter and drier. Over the next 24 hours, the two red, visible blemishes were slightly lighter in color and reduced by about 75%. They were flat by the next day, and one of them returned to normal flesh tone within 72 hours. The whitehead dried out and was gone in 48 hours. The blemish that hadn’t shown up on my skin came to the surface and dried up in less than 72 hours. I am thrilled with the results of these attachments! Results come faster than if I went to the dermatologist to get a blemish injected, and less expensive in the long run if your insurance doesn’t cover acne.

There are several warnings in the instructions of those who shouldn’t use the Lift Wand Pro due to medical conditions, so take a look at that before you use it. The gadget comes with a 1-year warranty, which is great!

The whole kit comes in a sturdy aluminum briefcase style box, which is fantastic for storage of these delicate items. I wish more beauty gadgets came with good storage like this, and it definitely adds value to a great kit.

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System

December 16, 2015 · Leave a Comment

The amazing result I had with RejuvadermMD Microdermabrasion System by Trophy Skin surprised me since my skin is not flaky or rough, so I didn’t expect there would be much to exfoliate or buff. But I was wrong.

The RejuvadermMD Microdermabrasion System is an impressive tool.  It diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and leaves skin brighter –  that pinkish sort of awake, peppy younger, and SO very smooth and glowing. I keep touching my face to feel how soft with each use. I knew immediately it was a good purchase.

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System

My exfoliating routine was gentle, but lacking, as my skin can get lackluster: soft washcloths, at-home use of glycolic acid pads or Brazilian Peel AHA, gentle fruit acid washes, and on rare occasion, Clinique Seven Day Scrub, especially around the mouth.  I moisturize well and of course, use sunscreen.

Here is an overview of the Microdermabrasion Tool and its’ different functions and a review with tips and tricks of each of the included heads and tips.

THE WAND TOOL

It is powerful for an at-home tool that comes with three heads: a diamond tip dermabrasion head, an extractor tip, and an infuser head to help serums penetrate the skin.

HOW TO USE THE WAND:  The wand comes with four speed settings, one lit up dot being the gentlest suction and speed. Press the button continuously until the first green light appears.

The tricky part is keeping constant contact of the suction wand on the skin, or else you “skip” sections. It is a balance between not pulling on delicate areas of skin too much while still getting benefit from the product, so people with less resilient, more mature skin might want to limit where they use the wand to avoid more delicate areas.

DIAMOND TIP:

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Microdermabrasion System Diamond Wand Tip

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Microdermabrasion System Diamond Wand Tip

The circular diamond tip sands and buffs the skin while suction pulls away the resulting dead skin debris that become fine powdery debris whisked away by the suction.  Brown spots look lighter and smoother. Surface gunk clogging pores and dry skin slough off so skin is less clogged. Wrinkles diminish when the dark impurities are sucked off it leaves the area smoother and able to better reflect light, making a wrinkle appear less deep and less noticeable.  It also gives a smoother surface to apply makeup.

Used Filter

That was the stuff on my face. Ew.

Want to see the gunk that comes out of a face, the face you think has been scrubbed clean? Yeah, it’s not pretty.

Yep, this is the gunk sitting on your face right now.

Yep, this is the gunk sitting on your face right now.

Like a facial, don’t do dermabrasion right before an event, as tempting as it might be once you feel how soft and glowing skin is after the treatment. But you also can get red and irritated for a bit. I do it at least one to two days before to allow myself time to moisturize and hydrate.  Microdermabrasion + NuFace Trinity leaves skin SO glowing and youthful.  There are four settings on the tool. Start at “one” and work up, it is doing more than you may realize at first. Delicate areas of skin will be red after, but not too irritated and the redness diminishes quickly once you practice technique.  Try to avoid using the wand directly on active blemishes (more on that later) but blackheads and whiteheads will be much less noticeable.

I especially like how the microdermabrasion addresses eleven lines and the lines near the mouth. It is also great when directed at neck wrinkles and areas of the chest and décolletage that get less-than-dewy looking and need a bit of attention, especially when dehydrated.

Used Filter

OK, I assume you have seen enough of this.

You can use it almost anywhere, including shoulders and upper back; two areas I didn’t realize were a little neglected despite using body scrubs on those areas. Moisturize after use.

Filter

Once you get the hang of it, advance to higher and more powerful settings on the tool, especially around the forehead and sides of your neck, shoulders, and chest.  I also have been using it on an old shaving scrape that left a light scar on my legs, and on my hands, but it is a challenge to maintain the suction on an uneven surface.

TIP: When using the diamond tip, ALWAYS make sure one of the little black pads the size of the pencil eraser top are in the wand to prevent the tool from getting all that gunk on your face embedded into the tool. The diamond tip buffs skin so that a fine powder of debris comes off and lands on these black pads and looks like the photo seen above right.

EXTRACTOR HEAD
Don’t use the extractor attachment on the same location on the same day as the dermabrasion diamond head. The extractor pulls sebum and blackheads out of your skin. I didn’t expect much since I don’t have many blackheads, just some in the nostril “curl”. At first glance, the extractor doesn’t seem to have done much, and then I took a peek inside, and well, EWW.

I am a dainty skin-obsessed lady, I (judiciously) use one of those metal black head extractor tools, and I exfoliate and ALWAYS remove my makeup at night. So the fact that this much blackhead and sebum-y gunk was just sitting

These pictures are disgusting. You’ve been warned.

Here is a slideshow of some more pictures and how to use the device, and because there are more gross pictures of things you really don’t want to think are in your skin, I added some classy music to the background.

http://www.stylechicks.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Trophy-Skin-RejuvadermMD-Microdermabrasion-System.m4v

QUESTION:  CAN THE EXTRACTOR HEAD SUCTION OUT THE CONTENTS OF A PUSTULE PIMPLE?

Friendly advice: I was tempted to see if the extractor head could just pull the contents of an active, noticeable pimple that had formed a “head” and looked ready to be extracted with a gentle nudge from my handy metal blackhead extractor. The suction extractor tip is powerful, but not the tool for this kind of acne, because the suction held on one spot too long leaves an angry red mark on the surrounding skin leaves too much of an angry red, for lack of a better word, “hickey-like” mark, at least it did on me.  Leave it to the Dermatologists, a trusty blemish extractor tool, apply a hot compress, or zap it with a good topical blemish cream.  This is more a tool for blackheads and whiteheads and pre-emptive skin care that removes the oil and debris trapping dead skin layers, leading to a less pimple-friendly environment in the long run.

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System Infusion Tip

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System Infusion Tip

THE INFUSER TIP HEAD
I am underwhelmed on the infuser head; it is just not doing it for me, which is a disappointment because I was excited about that feature. This company has made a solid quality product in the RejuvadermMD, so I would be excited to try their Labelle Ultrasonic Skin Spatula for product infusion.

VERDICT

This is a good tool especially for clogged or flaking skin, skin with brown spots and fine wrinkles, blackheads, and skin that could be smoother. Be careful around delicate areas, but it is very useful on skin on the neck and shoulders that should be treated like facial skin but often is subject to “body skin” exfoliating measures. Even if you don’t feel much need to exfoliate, this tool leaves skin with a fresh, youthful glow.
