How does HairMax work?
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) occurs in both men and women. Women also experience an overall diffuse thinning of hair with age and sometimes post-partum hair loss.

How Low-Level Laser Light Can Reverse Hair Loss
Hair loss can occur when the hair follicle experiences poor blood flow or the build-up of a hormone by-product called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT accumulates on the scalp and suffocates the hair follicle. The hair follicle slowly shrinks and produces thinner, shorter hair, until it becomes dormant and no longer produces hair at all.
Fortunately, DHT can be removed, and the follicle could grow hair again. But dormant follicles no longer receive the regular blood supply necessary for hair growth. Low-level laser light therapy both restores blood flow and gives the dormant follicle the” jump start” needed to actively grow hair again. Second, low-level laser light can extend the growth phase of hair to restore a healthy hair production cycle. Third, low-level laser light gives existing hair follicles an extra boost of blood flow and nutrients for stronger, thicker hair growth.

Good question, Bianca. No, it doesn’t hurt at all. The comb teeth don’t come to a point, the tip is flat and dull. It may leave a small red mark temporarily, like a few minutes at most.
The laser light itself doesn’t feel like anything, on the scalp or hair. It is not hot or burning, and it doesn’t sting. It is not even hot like how a hairdryer feels. I have to check it in the mirror to know the light is on, I feel nothing.

Hi Elaina. Many people haven’t heard of DHT. Some people (myself included) would not wash hair daily after a blow out and use dry shampoo for days in a row. But DHT accumulates on the follicle when using only dry shampoo and can cause hair loss. If one is seeing some hair thinning, daily shampooing is especially important.

There is absolutely no stinging or burning at all. It is not “hot” like a lamp light or hairdryer.
Low laser light therapy is often even soothing to some skin conditions. You won’t feel any discomfort at all.

About the supplement, How long before seeing growth? I take prenatal vitamins for hair & nails. My nails are growing but my hair is still the same length!!!

Thoughtful question, Brie. Many factors go into why hair may not be growing as long as you want. Most of us heard hair grows about half inch a month, as long as it has the right nutrients and no barriers to growth impeding it. So how long you need to take any vitamin depends on how much hair you have to grow out.
If you look at the Hairmax supplement photo close up, the first several ingredients are commonly found in some prenatals, such as Zinc, Folic Acid and Biotin. After a bold black line are others that are hair loss growth specific, including MSM and Saw Palmetto. If basic deficiencies are the problem, a prenatal may help. But if hair loss or thinning is the problem, you may want more than a prenatal vitamins offers. We found the HairMax supplement to be rather price competitive compared to other hair vitamins currently on the market, and contains plenty of important minerals and vitamins.
Another issue that your hair might not seem any longer is hair breakage. Do you have roots but notice a section on your hair that hairs appear shorter and broken? If your hair is showing roots, but doesn’t seem longer, hair breakage may be the culprit. The Density system has ingredients helpful with breakage issues. I also like the towel to avoid breakage, and, as a personal side note, I use a silk or satin pillowcase to help reduce hair breakage.
