I have owned my share of luxury bed linens in my day, and once you sleep on high-thread-count sheets, you don’t want to go back to “regular” sheets because they feel scratchy in comparison. Luxury linens are often difficult to care for, high-priced and are not always so durable. So I like The Cosy House Collection 1800 Series Bed Sheets because not only are they so very soft and silky like my pricey luxury linens, but they have several features my other luxury linens do not have.

HOW THE SHEETS LOOK

The sheets come in several colors: White, Ivory, Cream, Burgundy, Gold, Taupe, Baby Blue, Chocolate, Navy Blue, Purple, Sage Green. We selected the purple to coordinate with an autumnal-themed color palette of coppers, dark browns, and gold. It also looks good in the summer paired with a white duvet and decorative pillows. I love how the purple looks with other bright, pretty colors, and it makes for such an inviting guest bedroom.

Another feature is that these the sheets are resistant to stains and fading. The no-fade feature is a perk since the sheet set comes in so many lovely, vibrant colors.

The sheet sets come in Twin, Full, Queen, and King.

I particularly like that this set has FOUR pillowcases, allowing for all matching pillowcases if you like to use more than one pillow, or the ability to switch out pillowcases each night and have one spare to wash, as is the recommendation for keeping your facial skin as clean and clear as possible.

HOW THEY FEEL

Sumptuous and silky! They are very soft because of the premium double-brushed microfiber. They are also breathable, making them feel fresh and comfortable on warm, humid nights, yet cozy and warm on colder evenings.

HOW THEY FIT ON THE BED

I got the Queen size set, the dimensions are generous and easily fit onto my pillowtopper mattress. The Flat Sheet measures 105″ x 90″, the Fitted Sheet measuring 80″ x 60″, and the Pillowcases are 20″ x 30″, which is plenty of room even for my super fluffy pillows.

The bottom sheet stays in place: the bottom fitted sheet has elastic all the way around, not just on the corners, so it stays put on the mattress, even on deeper pillowtop mattresses like mine, about 16 inches. These sheets are also good for mattresses plus mattress toppers such as an egg crate or foam topper. The sheets fit taut and stay put, and I like not having to remake the corners of the bed in the morning.

The sheets also fit on not so deep mattresses including my pull out couch for guests. I like to add a mattress topper to make the guest bed more comfortable, and these sheets accommodate this nicely.

Who doesn’t love an alfresco meal at the beach or favorite outdoor spot? The mental picture of a beach day or impromptu picnic always presumes that the ground is warm, dry and comfortable. But the reality of sitting on the ground is it is often soggy, sinking and cold with dirt or sand everywhere, including near the food. I have brought a regular blanket, tablecloth or oversized towel all of which tend to get wet when sitting on them. They are also often difficult to clean off all of the dirt or sand, especially if they get wet. Another issue is the wind tends to overturn the blanket unless the corners are anchored, which is something I always forget about until it is too late. SOME FEATURES OF THE WEIMY BEACH BLANKET

As a kid, we lived near the beach. We frequently packed lunch or got some takeout and walked the sand picking up seashells for awhile before sitting together and having our meal. I remember it being lots of fun, even when it was cold, and I also remember when it was time to get back into my Dad’s sporty little red BMW. There was one rule: no sand in the car, and no tracking sand into the house, ever. So if we couldn’t shake the sand out of some blanket, shoe, or beach pail, then we got air vacuumed off or hosed off at the gas station before going home. We vacuumed a lot of sand off of those beach blankets and shoes.

Fast forward to now and sand still does not come off of most beach blankets very easily. So I was impressed to take this WEIMY beach blanket for a test run on wet sand. It is sand repellant, so the sand is easy to brush and shake off before the blanket is folded back up and packed. No messy sand in the car.

ANCHORED CORNER POCKETS WITH STAKES
Something I especially like about the WEIMY beach blanket is the four anchor pockets and four plastic stakes that are used to keep the blanket securely in place, even if it is windy. The stakes secure the blanket nicely and are easy to ground in the sand or dirt. We find this ideal for fall beach trips. We have this amazingly fresh seafood stand near our local favorite beach spot. Even when the temperatures start to cool down, we enjoy having our seafood feast on the beach, watching the waves roll in. But not just any old blanket, tarp, or towel can be set up our seafood picnic at the beach because the wind at the shore invariably manages to overturn my makeshift surfside picnic. Even in warmer weather, the wind kicks up too much and everything I could use to weight the corners is often already covered in sand. While it is still just chilly enough to enjoy still being outside, a nice way to take a day at the beach, a park, glamping or an impromptu picnic while admiring the fall foliage. The beaches on Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Block Island are almost always too windy to keep a beach blanket in place, so the WEIMY blanket is perfect to tuck into the beach bag for windy island excursions.

HOW TO SECURE THE WEIMY BLANKET WITH THE STAKES
The four yellow stakes have a long hook that hooks into the black loops on the four corners of the blanket. The loops are well-stitched securely onto the blanket and so far have not unraveled even when overstretched a bit. The stakes are secured into the sand very easily. I found them even more secure on a slight inward angle towards the blanket. A child could easily secure the stakes on sand. The stakes go into the ground (warm or cold) very easily as well, I could easily slide the stake into the cooler fall dirt with one hand. If it is very cold ground, in either dirt or grass, the easiest way I found was to put them into the ground about an inch and then press the stakes the rest of the way down with my foot. But a stronger person could easily do it with their hands.

REFOLDING THE WEIMY BEACH BLANKET AND STORING IT
I like that the bag is big enough to accommodate the blanket after I have used it and refolded it. I have several similar items that I can never get the item back into its’ storage bag after it is unfolded, whereas the Weimy blanket fits back into the bag pretty easily.

After cleaning (and drying if needed), store the Weimy blanket back in the drawstring bag. To refold the blanket, fold along the small folds first, then roll it back into the size that fits into the bag.

OTHER USES FOR A WEIMY BEACH BLANKET

STARGAZING
In New England, the uses for a beach blanket within outdoor activities are rarely just limited to summer beach days. The stakes are easy to use and keep the blanket securely in place, and the sand-resistant material helps to keep sand away from food and drink on the blanket as well as makes for easy clean-up. Nothing makes your morning like a good cup of coffee or two. While I love a morning Starbucks run, I am often in a rush and don’t have the time to stop. For me, quality coffee equipment to make coffee beverages myself is a worthwhile investment. I have invested in a few espresso and coffee maker machines over the years. But nothing beats the kind of espresso my Grandmother would make for us in an old-fashioned Moka espresso maker directly on the stovetop. Minos has done it one better than what our Grandmother used in their Minos Moka Pot Espresso Maker It is a modern updated twist on a classic.

The Minos Moka Pot Espresso Maker is a convenient way to get your morning (or afternoon) caffeine fix of artisan style espresso coffee. It makes up to six cups of espresso at once. In this case, a “cup” means espresso cup sized portions, or “shots,” not a full coffee mug sized “cup.” In total, it makes about nine to ten ounces total of espresso. If you are used to ordering your favorite Starbucks beverage with multiple shots of espresso, this Moka is a good size for one to two people, or enough to serve a traditional espresso with a twist of lemon after a meal.

HOW TO USE THE MINOS MOKA POT EXPRESSO MAKER

The Moka pot comes with easy step-by-step instructions. Here is how to use it:

1) Remove the tamper and funnel from the inside of the coffeemaker
2) Pour cold water into the bottom chamber. Fill up to one cm below the safety valve. This is roughly between 1/2 inch and .75 of an inch. When in doubt, fill with less water so that the safety valve is NOT submerged.
3) Grind fresh coffee beans to a medium to coarse grind. A fine grind will block the funnel. Alternatively, you can use pre-ground espresso.
4) Place the funnel inside the bottom chamber
5) Fill the funnel with ground coffee until it is full.
6) Using the tamper, flatten the grounds so that they are level with the top of the funnel.
7) Brush away any grounds that have spilled on the threads or funnel top.
8) Remove the tamper from the funnel. DO NOT LEAVE IN THE TAMPER DURING OPERATION.
9) Tightly screw on the top of the Moka pot.
10) Place Moka pot onto a heat source.
11) Keep the cover (the lid) open while brewing.
12) Turn off the heat once the coffee stops coming out of the tube.
13) Add espresso directly to your coffeehouse-style beverage or for a traditional espresso style drink, pour espresso into espresso cups and add a small curl of lemon peel.

CONCLUSION: This is a high-quality Moka Pot made of sturdy stainless steel. It looks sleek and attractive. It is easy to clean and use, and best of all, it makes tasty artisan espresso that would make any Grandmother proud. HOW TO USE THESE PAINTS
These paints are applied on the outside of the glass, so generic glassware can be turned into customized special occasion glassware, adding theme elements, color-coordinated patterns, monograms or names. You can use your existing glassware, or purchase low-cost, plain glasses for the occasion. This particular glass that is used in these photos and video is a simple basic glass that could be purchased at any Bed, Bath, and Beyond or IKEA type store.

For patterns, there are endless stencils for free on sites such as Pinterest, some are available on Etsy, and it is easy to create your own pattern as well. To create a name stencil, I selected a script font in Microsoft Word and printed it out and taped it to the inside of the glass and then just traced over the script with the paint.

THE KIT
This kit consists of twelve non-toxic rich pigment color paints. It is suitable for use for kids 3 and older, teens and adults.

The kit comes with a plastic palette with several wells to hold paint and mix colors, and a large well for water to clean the brushes.

The kit does not come with brushes, but any simple craft store Glass Brush Set, Nylon bristle brush or even some Q-tips can be used to get started.

The paint: The paints are high pigment yet very sheer; it takes multiple layers to build color or a thick dab for opaque pigment. They are high- pigment tints, which make them highly suitable for “glass coloring,” or the filling in an existing or pre-applied outline on the glass. The pigment of the paint seems so intense and opaque; I was surprised to see how sheer it applied. I came to like this, as the very sheer nature of the paint makes it very usable for the less artistically inclined, because no one paint stroke can make or break your design. I like the ability to blend and create a pretty unstructured freehand tinted or stainless glass look.

I liked the two shades of green for creating realistic depth to leaves. I lightly mixed but did not thoroughly blend the shades to have some variegation to the leaves.

HOW TO PAINT:
These paints blended nicely and had a very creamy texture that is easy to use. The layers of paint are very sheer. To create more opaque color, dab it on the glass and allow it to dry for about ten seconds, then feather it out. Paint can also be dabbed on with a sponge or cotton swab for more intensive color. For multiple layers of sheer color, apply it in thin coats, similar to how you would apply nail polish. Since the paint does not absorb into the glass, the first coat is more of a sheer tint and takes multiple layers to create an opaque look.

If you make a mistake, just wipe off the paint with a Q-tip and start again. I got some of the paint on my hands and nails; it washed off quickly with basic soap and water.

CONCLUSION: A fun, relaxing, easy way to create custom glassware to match a theme or color palette for an event, these paints are non-toxic, making them suitable for use by children and adults. As a non-artist with artistic yearnings, I found the sheerness to be very useful to slowly build and blend color into freehand abstract patterns that are manageable to create my own simple artistic creations. Blendable and creamy, it is easy to quickly paint custom glassware that gives a look of expensive artisan glass for entertaining and use as gifts.
