Product Review: Instanatural Hyaluronic Acid Serum

January 13, 2015 · Leave a Comment

I don’t mean to shock anyone, but I don’t mind splurging on skincare products (*cough* La Mer *cough*), but sometimes something basic does the trick. This is the case with Instanatural Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

It is probably not something I would have tried, but I saw a post on a deal site that there was a $15 coupon off of the ~$16 price. For a dollar, with free Amazon Prime shipping, I figured it was worth a shot. And I’m glad I did.

In addition to vegan Hyaluronic Acid, it contains Vitamin C, Green Tea, Jojoba Oil, and other very good ingredients, and does not contain parabans, also a good thing. One application left my skin soft, smooth, supple, firm, and glowing, and dried out a few pre-acne spots. Not bad, huh?

I spot-tested it on my hands first, and loved the way they looked. It also absorbs delightfully, so you can wear it under makeup.

I’m definitely going to pick it up again, and will likely start using it on hands on a regular basis. And even if you think your throat looks fine…it looks way better after applying this stuff!

Find Instanatural Hyaluronic Acid Serum at Amazon.com.

Why We Love La Mer Broad Spectrum Face Sunscreen SPF 50

June 21, 2014 · Leave a Comment

This article is a review of La Mer The Broad Spectrum Face Sunscreen, formerly known as La Mer spf 50 UV Protecting Fluid, a remarkable sunscreen that is not sticky or greasy.

We are firm advocates of sun screen, 365 days a year. There is no simpler aesthetic anti-aging treatment. But we know it’s a hard sell to wear sunscreen that is sticky, greasy and makes foundation pill. Fortunately La Mer Sunscreen does NONE of that!

Why Sunscreen is Important

Yes, many people look good with a little bit of a tan. Nonetheless, it’s easier to add a little color with blush and bronzer than to be chasing youthful skin for the rest of your life, apart from skin cancer risks.

OK, I’m stepping off my soapbox now.

That being said, none of us are too happy with the sunscreens we’ve been using lately so we’ve been buying and trying a lot of new ones to find the glass slipper of sun protection. We’ll tell you about the ones we like, and today let’s start with the only one that we still like: La Mer spf 50 UV Protecting Fluid.

The La Mer The Broad Spectrum Face Sunscreen Experience

La Mer Protecting Fluid is the only SPF that never stings when I put it on, which is one of my big gripes with a lot of sunscreens of late. It’s an odd mix – you want a sunscreen to be powerful enough to do its job, but you want it to be delicate on the skin, and ideally, have the added benefit of a skin treatment through the day. La Mer fits the bill there.

The other thing I look for is a good texture. Protecting Fluid is indeed a fluid, like a very, very lightweight moisturizer. It truly absorbs and doesn’t leave any weird white streaks. No greasiness even in 85 degree weather, and makeup goes on like you are just wearing a light moisturizer. I’m actually able to eliminate primer when I use this.

There is nothing bad I can say about this fantastic SPF. The price ($85) can seem like a bit of a shock, but balance that with the products you won’t need – primer, anti-aging, lightening, etc – it really works out to be pretty inexpensive.

I’ve heard some complain that because of the price they are hesitant to use the amount they should, but I think it lasts as long as cheaper SPFs even when the proper amount is used.

Where to Buy La Mer The Broad Spectrum Face Sunscreen

Find La Mer the spf 50 UV Protecting Fluid at Nordstrom for $85.

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector What to Know

May 22, 2014 · Leave a Comment

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector touts “treatment benefits of a serum with the optical diffusers of a primer”.

What I Love

What I like about Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector is probably not quite its “traditional” use, but it sure works for me.

I prefer a diffusing primer to a foundation on my face, I never seem to get a good color match for my skintone. But since my dark circles are a very dark, bluish undertone to them and they really stick out with my very fair skin. I am also dark on my upper lids, so eyeshadow primers such as Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer just don’t give me enough opacity for a shadow base, I need some coverage so my shadow colors are true. However, I really dislike how cakey my eyeshadows look when I use foundation on my lids. I was surprised to see vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector addressed BOTH of these problems for me.

First, my shadow really STUCK far more than it does with any eyeshadow primer I use, and it did not get all creasy and looks FRESH hours later. The Instant Imperfection Corrector feels a little tacky after application, which was great to “lock” my eyeshadow and keep it looking fresh. I was surprised my eye looked as bright since the product is clear, yet instill managed to counteract the darkness of my upper eye area.

Second is my undereye dark circles. Normally I do a light moisturizer, wait for it to absorb, then a base, then re-apply Yves Saint Laurent Eclat throughout the day for some brightening around my eye. I am not crazy about how it fills into my lines and at some point in the day I usually give up or start all over.

But a little Miracle Skin transformer on my undereye area, I just used my trusty YSL Eclat and it did the trick! I need to use enough concealer that on close inspection it did not look like naked skin, but it did not crease in my lines. VERY NICE! I am excited to give this a try on a long day at work and see how the shadow holds up and if I need repeated concealer touchups during the day.

I can’t speak to the treatment benefits after one use, but there is a boatload of powerhouse ingredients in this: Vitamin C, ergothionene (antioxidant), lupine (brightener), Perennial plants, sesame, and grapefruit.

MY “CONS”

Some might find this a little sticky/tacky after application, I found that this dissipated as it dried down. If it really bothers you a light powder did the trick for me. It also made my powder contour/blush stick on well and look freshly applied.

I will give an update in a few weeks to see if I consider there to be benefits as a serum treatment as well. Stay tuned!

Where to Buy It

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector, $58 for one ounce available at Ulta and Nordstrom.
