Improve Dark Circles with BeautyStat Universal C Eye Perfector

December 30, 2020 · Leave a Comment

I’ve had dark circles since grade school. When I don’t wear concealer, my dark circles make concerned friends ask if I am sick or tired.  And even with concealer, I can never truly cover them.  If you suffer from dark circles, consider giving BeautyStat Universal Eye Perfector a try.
BeautyStat Universal C Eye Perfector

BeautyStat Universal C Eye Perfector

Dark circles are caused by many things: allergies, hereditary, facial structure, and leaking capillaries. Sun damage and discoloration makes all those problems look even worse.  Unfortunately, there isn’t much that can help dark circles.

But BeautyStat Universal Eye Perfector combines 5% Vitamin C with Hemp, Green Tea, Hyaluronic Acid, caffeine, and magnolia to get results.

In four weeks, 71% of users showed improvement in under-eye discoloration (dark circles)

The Research behind BeautyStat

In an independent clinical study, users were assessed with a Visia CR Imaging System. The results:

  • 90% showed improvement in crow’s feet, fine lines, and wrinkles.
  • 81% showed improvement in skin clarity.
  • 84% had improved skin brightness.
  • 71% showed improvement in under-eye discoloration (dark circles)

BeautyStat Universal C Eye Perfector Ingredients

How does this dark circle corrector work? Check out the ingredient list:

The Ingredients

Beauty Stat uses a stable form of Vitamin C for superior results

Beauty Stat uses a stable form of Vitamin C for superior results

Vitamin C

A potent 5% pure stabilized vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid). It is fresh and concentrated. L-ascorbic acid is a vitamin C that can be applied as a topical skin treatment.

Vitamin C is the only antioxidant proven to stimulate collagen production.

CBD Oil comes from Cannabis Sativa

Hemp Oil

Hemp Oil

Hemp Seed Oil is high in Omega-3, 6, and 9 fatty acids. It is also high in Vitamins A, E, and D.

Hemp Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. Hemp Seed Oil doesn’t contain the same compounds as the plant but has the nutrients and fatty acids.

It reduces acne while hydrating the skin. This helps soothe skin.

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Flowering Camellia Sinensis or Green Tea

EGCG

EGCG comes from Green Tea. EGCG enables the production of new cells in the epidermis [1]. It contains phenols to strengthen collagen and elastin. This gives skin a bouncy, younger look while delaying wrinkles.

ECCG also soothes skin to help tolerate powerful actives like Vitamin C.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid retains moisture and increases the effectiveness of other ingredients.  Hyaluronic acid holds its’ weight in moisturizer. It holds so much moisture that it instantly plumps fine lines. It plumps the skin, making fine wrinkles and mild sagging temporarily disappear.

Caffeine

Caffeine has antioxidant properties and slows down photo-aging. Caffeine stimulates blood circulation and reduces puffiness.

It is particularly effective on firmness, reducing fine lines and crow’s feet.

Vitamin K for Dark Undereye Circles: Fast Facts

June 24, 2019 · 6 Comments

Five Fast Vitamin K Facts

Vitamin K is popular in under-eye creams because it can lighten infraorbital darkness,  AKA under eye circles. It is most beneficial for circles with a blue or brown undertone.

  1. Vitamin K reverses the calcium deposits in elastin fibers. These deposits harden and cause wrinkles.
  2. Vitamin K helps with blood coagulation and circulation.
  3. Vitamin K is also called Phytonadione on ingredient listings.
  4. Some dark circles are caused by weak vessels that allow blood near the surface of your skin. These circles have a blue, purple or brown undertone.
  5. Topical application of vitamin K cream prior to an in-office procedure strengthens blood vessels. Stronger blood vessels means less bruising after surgical or laser treatments.

What to look for in a Vitamin K Topical

Vitamin K is most effective as part of a team instead of a standalone K cream or gel. A study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology showed topical Vitamin K works best when paired with retinol, Vitamins C, E, and the Bs. (1)

If you use prescription retinol, apply the retinol first and then the topical K product.

Choose a product with enough Vitamin K to be effective. The study used a 2% Vitamin K concentration.

Concealer that Stays Put Without Being Obvious: Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer

September 10, 2018 · 6 Comments

If you’re reading this, you likely have something you would like to conceal. We recently tried Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer which has long-lasting, blendable coverage that does not settle into fine lines.

I began to become self-conscious about my dark circles in fourth grade and have tried more concealers than I can possibly count in decades since.

Clinique Line Correcting Concealer won’t settle into lines or creases or get cakey

So I was very happy to obtain excellent results using Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer. It lives up to its’ promise of smoothing lines, not settling in one bit. The coverage is moderate and the finish is luminous, giving a healthy, natural glow while still covering blemishes or dark circles. It looks natural, not cakey or dry.

  • It’s lightweight and provides good cover when applying one layer. Also, I can layer a second “coat” of the product if one finds themselves, like me, with especially dark circles paired with fair skin. It does not get cakey.
  • It is long wearing, staying in place all day till I removed it before bedtime.
  • As a surprise bonus, it stays soft and hydrated without interfering with other eye makeup, which for me, means no more raccoon eyes from mascara and concealer interactions. This is a big get in of itself.
Comes in six shades

DESIGN FEATURES

  • The Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer applicator wand has a larger than typical doe shaped slanted applicator tip to apply the product in broad or pinpoint strokes.
  • A little bit goes a long way, especially since there is little need to reapply during the day.

DARK CIRCLE CONCEALER TIP: Clinique recommends using your ring finger to lightly tap the concealer under the eye area, over your lids, and into the inner corner of each eye to conceal any shadows.

BEST INTENDED USE

To conceal lines on the face, such as smile lines, draw a thin line or series of dots along the wrinkle, pat in and upwards with the ring finger. Choose a shade slightly lighter than your actual skin tone to highlight the area.

For dark circles, blending fine lines on the face, and concealing blemishes and redness. It is intended to be applied over foundation or directly to the skin over a light eye cream base.

SHADE OPTIONS

Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer comes in six shades and is 0.31 oz for $20.50. It blends well with Clinique’s foundation lines both for texture and shade choices.

Multi-Tasking Retinol: Retinol uses: Acne and Dark Undereye Circles

October 10, 2017 · 1 Comment

This is part two of a two-part series about the Multi-tasking uses of Retinol, the go-to beauty product to fix numerous skin issues ranging from stretch marks to acne to wrinkles. Today we discuss both acne and dark undereye circles, and why Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer, a 2.5% non-prescription Retinol is a powerhouse for treating them both.

Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer contains natural moisturizers to soothe while treating acne and dark circles

ACNE & RETINOL

Retinol is especially effective on acne. No matter what age you get your acne, Retinol can tackle it.

Whether you are a teen, in your twenties or even post-menopausal, acne happens. But how acne is best-addressed changes with age. Teens generally use oil-drying cleansers combined with a heavy layer of benzoyl peroxide, both of which are too rough for more mature skin because it cannot recover moisture like younger skin.

At the first sign of an emerging pimple, apply a buffered Retinol like Lordsbury Retinol+C to reduce inflammation and redness without causing surface dryness or irritation

But this is not to say that Retinol cannot be overly drying to the skin, as it’s in fact, quite a potent topical acne remedy. So potent, that only a pea-sized amount should be used on the entire face. Even in small doses, prescription strength retinols need to be buffered with a cream or lotion to ease the dryness and itchiness that can come with Retinol. This is one of our favorite things about Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer for treating acne because it comes with an all-in-one 2.5% prescription strength pure Retinol and several soothing ingredients built right into the formulation to buffer the retinol with just the right balance. Natural ingredients include Organic Aloe Vera and Shea Butter that keep skin supple and pliable to help pre-empt stretch marks before they form. Also, there’s Green Tea that soothes irritation. Even when I use it twice a day, I don’t experience peeling, itching or dryness, yet it effectively targets acne.

Lordsbury Retinol+C Moisturizer has soothing and hydrating moisturizers that buffer BOTH the prescription strength 2.5% Retinol and the 20% Vitamin C Serum to quickly reduce acne breakouts and heal acne mark scars

HOW IT WORKS

Retinol is a keratolytic treatment that dissolves dead skin layers. In laypersons’ speak, this means Retinol unclogs pores. This has a two-fold benefit of allowing other medications creams and gels, such as Vitamin C Serum or Salyclic Acid to more effectively treat the pore by cleaning it, removing bacteria and oil and shrinking its’ appearance. Retinol also reduces the number of blackheads and pimple outbreaks by preventing dead cells from clogging pores or entrapping bacteria and oil which form said blackheads and pimples.

Retinol unclogs pores so well that after about two weeks of Retinol use, users report a sudden acne breakout, often it is so bad that people feel Retinol is causing their acne. It’s not causing acne, rather purging pores. If you can hold on for just a few weeks, your skin will be clear and less congested.

USING RETINOL DURING A PIMPLE LIFE CYCLE

Retinol can also reduce inflammation and redness, which is a big part of what makes a pimple look so large.  At the first sign of a pimple, dab an extra bit of Lordsbury Retinol+C on the pimple to start reducing inflammation and quell the redness without causing a dry, crusty skin layer that is itchy.

POST PIMPLE HEALING

Retinol also encourages the formation of collagen, which helps the skin to heal, and it redistributes excess or abnormal pigmentation, meaning skin takes on a more even tone. This is why, in part, it addresses so many skin problems.

CYSTIC ACNE

Cystic Acne scars live on long after a pimple itself came and went, and the scar mark turns red then brown then after about six months fades to its’ final state of discoloration. Even if you are very careful not to pick, squeeze, poke or otherwise irritate these tricky cystic pimples, some are little jerks and just leave a scar anyways. The faster you can fade the scar, the better. Retinol tackles uneven skin tone and accelerates the healing process, breaking up the dark pigmentation of a red or brown scar. I particularly like Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer.

Got some discoloration from an old acne scar? Applying Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer to acne scars  helps quickly fade them and heal the skin texture without causing irritation

ACNE ON THE BODY

Acne on the body, especially the back, can be tough to treat. Benzoyl Peroxide, while effective and inexpensive, is often unsuitable for back acne, AKA “bacne” because it can bleach the fabric of clothing. Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer dries down clean without a greasy finish so it can be applied to your back acne with no residue and is safe to wear even with nicer clothing. It also comes in a large 2.8-ounce container, large enough to apply liberally to acne prone areas such as shoulders, chest, and back.

RETINOL & UNDER EYE DARK CIRCLES

Dark under eye circles happen for many reasons: allergies, heredity, lack of sleep, and at times, leaking blood capillaries under the skin that creates a purple hue. The undereye skin area, being so thin, is also subject to the effects of sun damage.

Retinol breaks up excess pigmentation and disperses it to make the skin tone appear even. It’s also exceptionally effective in reversing the appearance of sun damage. But for some dark circle undereye conditions, the best that can be done is minimizing their appearance by optimizing the condition of the skin by keeping it wrinkle free and as hydrated as possible.

Part of what contributes to the appearance of a dark undereye circle is skin sagging and the resulting shadow. Collagen is the scaffolding of the skin, if there’s not enough collagen to support skin tissues, skin sags under the weight. Skin loses collagen with age, especially around the eye area. Retinol promotes collagen production and in tandem with topical Vitamin C, can reduce the sagging and discoloration substantially.

You likely cannot substantially eradicate hereditary dark shadows, but you can remove as much sun exposure and skin damage as possible to lighten, smooth and brighten the area and you can boost the collagen levels to lift the skin upwards for a younger, brighter look. Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer contains Aloe Vera which feeds the skin like a vitamin, providing a dewy look over time that is smooth and reflects light, giving a lighter appearance. Vitamin C builds collagen and lightens the skin without bleaching it to an unnatural color, as can happen with some chemical peels or laser treatments.

Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer contains 20% Vitamin C Serum to build collagen, fade both discoloration and sun damage around the delicate eye area

TIP: To not irritate the delicate eye skin, only apply retinol as high as all along the orbital bone of the dark circle, below the eye bulge up to the brow.

CONCLUSION

Ranging from stretch marks, facial and body acne, dark undereye circles, wrinkles or discoloration due to sun damage, age spots, scars, discoloration or acne marks, Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer provides a powerful combination of a 20% Vitamin C Serum paired with a prescription level dose of 2.5% Retinol and all natural buffering moisturizers in one 2.8-ounce cream at a great price. Gentle enough for even sensitive skin, but potent enough to make a sizable difference in skin problems in short order.

End “You Look Tired” with Belli Eye Brightening Cream

January 24, 2017 · Leave a Comment

“You look tired.”

Seriously, what are people *thinking* when they say this?

Well, usually, they are noticing the skin around your eyes looks haggard and the bags are dark and puffy.  Strike back at the rudest frenemy line in the book with an excellent brightening cream. We recently got to try a good one: Belli Eye Brightening Cream.

Belli Eye Cream Brightening Cream

Belli Eye Cream Brightening Cream

FIGHT THE “YOU LOOK TIRED” LINE WITH VITAMINS K & B3

Vitamin K has long been used to lighten dark circles under tired eyes. Vitamin K helps with blood coagulation and circulation. Since both damaged skin and poor circulation can increase the appearance of dark circles, topical application of Vitamin K can reduce the appearance of darkness around tired eyes. And there is probably no time that eyes appear more tired than during pregnancy and when there is a newborn in the house. Belli Eye Brightening Cream was created for new Moms and Moms-to-be to combat tired looking eyes with a brightening cream that works.

ARE YOUR DARK CIRCLES UNRESPONSIVE TO MOST EYE CREAMS?

Belli designed this cream as safe for new Moms, but anyone with tired and dark under eyes can benefit from Belli Eye Brightening Cream, as it contains Vitamin K and B3, both of which improve all kinds of dark circles including those caused by a lack of sleep. But this Vitamin super-duo also addresses a tougher to treat kind of dark circle, the kind I got: dark circles due to leaking capillaries. The capillaries under the eye slowly leak, and the pool of blood absorbs into the eye tissue and gives it a dark brown look, like a bruise.  There isn’t much to do about it but strengthen the tiny vessels and lightens the darkness that has already occurred. Belli Eye Brightening Cream can address both problems.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT BELLI EYE BRIGHTENING CREAM

I’ve been through my share of dark circle treatments and creams in my day, and have a drawer full of concealers that didn’t work. While many creams offer some benefit in reducing the puffiness of the undereye area or giving a smoother appearance, few address the actual darkness or cause of darkness: the blood vessels leaking or experiencing impaired blood flow which gives the appearance of dark undereye skin. So I was excited to use this cream. A 2004 study in the “Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology,” showed that topical Vitamin K was most useful at dark circle reduction and brightening when paired with other ingredients like Vitamin B’s. Belli Eye Brightening Cream has this brightening combo of ingredients and then some including:

  • Vitamin B3 is Niacinamide. It is the hot new anti-aging ingredient of late and for a good reason: this collagen promoting skin brightener addresses a loss of elasticity and reduces redness. An effective brightening and lightening tool all own its’ own, when paired with Vitamin K, it results in brighter and firmer skin.
  • Arnica decreases bruising, swelling, inflammation
  • Green Tea reduces puffiness, is anti-inflammatory, and is soothing
  • Cucumber is soothing and reduces swelling
  • Lactic acid is a popular form of AHA, or Alpha Hydroxy Acid, a powerful ingredient that reduces the appearance of acne and wrinkles. While Lactic acid can be harsh on the skin when paired with soothing ingredients and used in reasonable doses, it does not cause irritation while still being very efficient.

Other features:

  • Allergy tested
  • Gluten-Free and not tested on animals.
  • Free of paraben preservatives, gluten, phthalates, and artificial dyes or fragrances.
  • Safe for Moms and Babies: For expecting and nursing moms, Belli strictly avoids any ingredient, synthetic or natural, that has any known link or harmful effect during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Belli Eye Cream Brightening Cream

TESTING OUT BELLI EYE BRIGHTENING CREAM

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: It felt cooling, soft and soothing on the skin. The scent is light and dissipates after application.

USE: The cream is emollient and blends well into the skin, and in my opinion, made for good base cream for a concealer. It did not appear greasy when worn on bare skin. My eyes were not irritated or watery after use. My skin stayed emollient but not greasy for several hours after application.

TIP: To enhance the cooling benefits, keep the cream in the refrigerator to make it extra cooling on contact and to help reduce and puffiness.

TREATING PUFFINESS AND SOOTHING IRRITATED SKIN: I had puffiness around my eyes that dissipated upon cream application, and some red, irritated skin along the bottom of one dark circle, there is a small eczema patch there, about the size of a pencil eraser tip. I had used an AHA peel the night before, so the eczema was red. That spot seemed soothed by the cream, and the redness eased off during the day, with the redness subsiding to about the size of a pencil point. It did not sting the skin.

RESULTS

With daily use, my eyes began to look less tired, wrinkles are smoother, and the eyes appear lifted. Collagen production takes about a month with any product, but Vitamins B3 and K are a great combo to build collagen and other supporting structures. The result is firmer, brighter skin. It does this while reducing darkness under the eyes and the overall look of the eye is much brighter, and the skin looks firmer.

Belli Eye Cream Brightening Cream

Belli Eye Cream Brightening Cream

CONCLUSION

If you look tired for whatever reason, including being a new Mom, Belli Eye Brightening Cream Eye Cream can brighten and firm the skin while smoothing wrinkles and improving the condition of the skin to look bright-eyed and bushy tailed. If you have tried a Vitamin K gel or serum in the past with limited results, consider the dynamic duo of Vitamin K plus Vitamin B3 to get superior results than what can be achieved by Vitamin K alone.
