Shoe Saturday: Valentino Bow Detailed Patent Leather d’Orsay Pump

January 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Time to start thinking about early Spring shoes – and these Valentino Bow Detailed Patent Leather d’Orsay Pumps make me wish it was late March (as does the freezing temperatures). I like the sweet bow, it kind of reminds me of a pair of ruby red shoes I had as a little girl, only grown up (4 1/2 inch heels and a little platform tend to make any shoe grown up). You can preorder them now at Nordstrom to have in time for Spring!

They are also available in black at Nordstrom for $745.00.

You can also find them currently in stock at Saks.comicon in Blackicon, Aquaicon, and Gunmetalicon for $695.00.

New Products: Nivea now makes a lip care line

January 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been putting Nivea cream on my flakey lips for years – it does a great job. Now Nivea has come out with a lip care line, so you can toss it in your purse and keep your lips in perfect condition all day, which is especially nice in a winter like this.

There are several choices in the line, but here’s a few of the highlights:

Nivea Lip Care A Kiss Of Moisture, Essential Lip Care: the basic version in the line – provides moisture with no frills. I’d guess it would be the closest to applying the cream to your lips.  $2.49.
Nivea Lip Care A Kiss Of Flavor, Cherry Tinted Lip Care: if you like the color that cherry chap stick gives your lips (and if you don’t use it, take a look at a pic of Liv Tyler – she wears it all the time and always has the perfect color), then this cherry tinted Nivea will be perfect. $2.49
Nivea Lip Care SOS Balm: For seriously dry lips. Contains shea butter. $3.29
Nivea Lip Care A Kiss Of Shimmer, Pearly Shimmer Lip Care: Gives a delicate shimmer to lips – the shimmer would ostensibly also make an any lip color more sheer if you slicked on the Nivea before applying your lipstick. $2.49
Nivea Lip Care A Kiss Of Shine, Pink Glossy Lip Care: the Nivea formula also comes in a few lip gloss shades (yay!), including this pink one. It also comes in a beautiful red (that kind of color that doesn’t look too intense on – just like your lips but better), and a clear. $3.29

I haven’t tried any of them yet but will report when I do. You can find them in the Nivea Store at Drugstore.com. I’m really excited about this line.

Fekkai All Day Hair Plump Update

January 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Last April I raved about Frederic Fekkai’s All Day Hair Plump. But as someone noted, the $95 price tag is a little up there. But consider this: I just bought my second one about a week ago. I have been using it regularly, and my hair is past my shoulders, and I have a lot of it. I definitely have to use more of it than most people do – and one tube lasted me about nine months. About $10.55 a month for an amazing styling agent/conditioning product is pretty economical (can’t get a drugstore brand for that little!). I can do the most amazing blow-outs at home with it (and I have absolutely zero skill when it comes to blow-outs – the stuff is foolproof). And I get the softest, most defined curls when I let my hair air-dry.

Find Frederic Fekkai All-Day Hair Plump at Sephora.com and Beauty.com.

It’s cold. Wear Cashmere

January 15, 2009 · Leave a Comment

So it’s crazy cold in most of the country (including here in the Northeast), and the best cure for cold is cashmere. After spending way too long browsing through cashmere items online before I actually got up and got myself a sweater from my closet, here’s my favorites of what I found at a variety of price points:

George Simonton Couture Wool & Cashmere Walking Coat $329.90 at Nordstrom. Check out the rosebud buttons!
Nordstrom Plaid Cashmere Wrap. Super Soft and Super Warm! $98.50 at Nordstrom
Philosophy Dane Lewis V-Neck Cashmere Sweater. $52.90 at Nordstrom. Super soft, super comfy. Good under a jacket or just around the house.
Leifsdottir Scalloped Cashmere Sweater. I absolutely adore this sweater. Check out the buttons!
Philosophy Dane Lewis Ruched Yoke Cashmere Hoody. Is there anything more luxurious than a cashmere hoodie? $52.90 at Nordstrom. Comes in some beautiful colors.
Lauren by Ralph Lauren Cable Cashmere Sweater. I love this color.
Juicy Couture Cashmere Track Pants and Juicy Couture Empire Waist Cashmere Hoody. You could exercise in this. Or you could curl up on the couch and watch a movie. I won’t tell anyone. Also comes in black.
Juicy Couture Bow & Charm Cashmere Hat. Nothing keeps you warm like a cashmere hat and scarf. $95 at Nordstrom.
