Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector What to Know

May 22, 2014 · Leave a Comment

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector touts “treatment benefits of a serum with the optical diffusers of a primer”.

What I Love

What I like about Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector is probably not quite its “traditional” use, but it sure works for me.

I prefer a diffusing primer to a foundation on my face, I never seem to get a good color match for my skintone. But since my dark circles are a very dark, bluish undertone to them and they really stick out with my very fair skin. I am also dark on my upper lids, so eyeshadow primers such as Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer just don’t give me enough opacity for a shadow base, I need some coverage so my shadow colors are true. However, I really dislike how cakey my eyeshadows look when I use foundation on my lids. I was surprised to see vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector addressed BOTH of these problems for me.

First, my shadow really STUCK far more than it does with any eyeshadow primer I use, and it did not get all creasy and looks FRESH hours later. The Instant Imperfection Corrector feels a little tacky after application, which was great to “lock” my eyeshadow and keep it looking fresh. I was surprised my eye looked as bright since the product is clear, yet instill managed to counteract the darkness of my upper eye area.

Second is my undereye dark circles. Normally I do a light moisturizer, wait for it to absorb, then a base, then re-apply Yves Saint Laurent Eclat throughout the day for some brightening around my eye. I am not crazy about how it fills into my lines and at some point in the day I usually give up or start all over.

But a little Miracle Skin transformer on my undereye area, I just used my trusty YSL Eclat and it did the trick! I need to use enough concealer that on close inspection it did not look like naked skin, but it did not crease in my lines. VERY NICE! I am excited to give this a try on a long day at work and see how the shadow holds up and if I need repeated concealer touchups during the day.

I can’t speak to the treatment benefits after one use, but there is a boatload of powerhouse ingredients in this: Vitamin C, ergothionene (antioxidant), lupine (brightener), Perennial plants, sesame, and grapefruit.

MY “CONS”

Some might find this a little sticky/tacky after application, I found that this dissipated as it dried down. If it really bothers you a light powder did the trick for me. It also made my powder contour/blush stick on well and look freshly applied.

I will give an update in a few weeks to see if I consider there to be benefits as a serum treatment as well. Stay tuned!

First Look: Whitening Lightning Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Gloss

May 20, 2014 · Leave a Comment

Today we received a few shades of Whitening Lightning Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Gloss for our review and I’ve been playing with them. They are supposed to make your smile a bit brighter and increase lip volume painlessly, unlike a lot of stingy formulas that say they do the same thing. Plus the LED light in the cap is fantastic for precise application!

We’ll be doing a full review once we’ve tried tested them out, but here is a color preview. Find these and other shades at WhiteningLightning.com.

Left to Right: Raspberry Sherbet, Sugar Mama, Coral Craze, Salmon

How to Waterline Urban Decay Naked Basic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Pencil

May 11, 2014 · Leave a Comment

I love waterlining my lower lid rim with a nice bright pencil to hide my allergy-red eyes. And a nice white or even bright peach pencil sure makes your eyes look bigger, but it also looks like you obviously waterlined. Looking for a more natural option? Try Urban Decay Naked Basic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Pencil in Crave/Venus.

Here’s the thing – I’ve tried every eye drop in the book and I have never achieved perfectly white, gleaming eyes aka Katy Perry in the..well, every video of hers. Even Twiggy had to keep putting eye drops in all day long to get her iconic look. So while waterlining is a wonderful makeup trick, the wrong color can make you look like you are trying to hide the fact that you were out drinking all night, not just that you have hay fever.

So I picked up Urban Decay Naked Basic 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Pencil in Crave/Venus at Ulta to see if it would be a more natural look, and I am thrilled with the results. Venus is a golden-cream, which is brightening, opens the eye, and covers redness on the inner rim while not looking like you are wearing anything. Because looking bright eyed and bushy tailed is always better when you don’t look like you spent 30 minutes putting on makeup to get there.

Crave is also a great dark liner – I love it for tightlining my upper lid.

All in all, this two sided liner is a great, natural looking liner that works for the office or at night. It is super-creamy and has great staying power, while coming right off with an oil based cleanser at the end of the day. And at $16, it is a great deal for a generously sized dual ended highly usable liner.

Find it at UrbanDecay.com and Ulta.com.

And yes, it goes fabulously with the Naked Palettes…

I put on a nice thick layer of each to swatch color – but the formula is ridiculously smooth:
