Skincare: Divas Never Age Vitamin C Serum

August 29, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Divas Never Age Vitamin C Serum

Divas Never Age Vitamin C Serum

Divas Never Age Vitamin C Serum comes in an attractive bottle with angled tip dropper.

WHY USE VITAMIN C SERUM?
Vitamin C Serums are an important part of any skincare program. Vitamin C addresses many common beauty complaints including adult acne, scarring, wrinkles discoloration, age spots, and dull skin. Vitamin C can address all of these issues by increasing the production of more collagen and the cellular level of the skin. More collagen equals a more even skin tone, fewer breakouts, fewer wrinkles and less sagging of skin.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT DIVAS NEVER AGE VITAMIN C SERUM?
For a Vitamin C to be truly useful, it is helpful if Vitamin C is paired with other active ingredients to best support collagen production. Divas Never Age has Vitamin B3, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Acid, amongst other Vitamin C supporters. Vitamin B3 is becoming popular in anti-aging as it helps reduce redness and inflammation, including around acne and sensitive areas such as undereye skin. Less inflammation means less sagging and puffiness. The serum also contains Hyaluronic Acid, a go-to ingredient that makes skin look instantly dewy, plump and soft. It does this because it holds so much moisture, it just sucks hydration into your skin, acting as a temporary filler. Enlarged pores practically swell closed and appear smaller, wrinkles plump, and skin looks younger. Hyaluronic Acid also helps the Vitamin C sink deeper into the skin to reach deep skin layers including supportive layers of skin that tend to need support to prevent sagging and wrinkles.

In addition to great supporting ingredients, Divas Never Age Vitamin C serum goes on smoothly and is not sticky or drying to the skin like some serums can be. Skin will look better when wearing it, which is a very attractive quality in an anti-aging serum.

APPLICATION
It is not sticky or drying to the skin, rather it is plumping and leaves skin dewy and smooth to the touch. It dries down quickly, and makeup can be applied smoothly on top. Skin looks younger while you wear it because it has light-reflecting properties and the Hyaluronic smooths and plumps, acting as a filler for wrinkles and pores.

RESULTS: I love that my skin looks good while I wear it: soft, supple, dewy and fresh. It addresses dull skin immediately, even the next day my skin has a lovely glow. There is no sticky white residue after application. Uneven skin tone areas look better in a few weeks, and my acne improved in about a week. Darker age spots and wrinkles take more time; it is often two months of consistent use to see results with collagen-producing Vitamin C serums, but I am very pleased with the results so far, and the instant glow the serum gives my skin.

CONCLUSION: A powerful anti-aging treatment. If you have sensitive skin, this is a great Vitamin C serum as it is non-irritating but still quite effective in combating wrinkles, adult acne, uneven skin tone and dullness. Upon application, there is a youthful, dewy glow to the skin.

Why Morganna’s Bellatox Is Excellent for Dry Dehydrated Skin

August 29, 2016 · Leave a Comment

My skin became seriously dry this week. Despite wearing adequate amount of sunscreen, the high UV index took a toll, and I have been so busy that I haven’t been properly hydrating. On top of that, I emptied out the last of my La Mer, which is usually what I use to save my face when it gets this dry.

So I am thrilled that I have Morganna’s Bellatox to use on my skin. As we all know, Parisian Girls do skincare right. Easy but effective. And that is precisely what Bellatox is.

Morganna's Bellatox for Dry Dehydrated Skin

Morganna’s Bellatox for Dry Dehydrated Skin

Despite the name, Bellatox doesn’t have botox, or any toxin, for that matter. It has natural ingredients that hydrate the skin and plump wrinkles, so they are far less visible.

Bellatox is unique because of four primary ingredients. These are Hydrolized Vegetable Protein, Spilanthol, Imperata Cylindrica, and Hyaluron. These four ingredients provide the following specific beauty benefits:

SMOOTHING & LIGHT DEFLECTING:

Hydrolized Vegetable Protein is what gives the skin an appearance of instant smoothness, especially on wrinkles and imperfections. It has a light deflecting property that makes light bounce off the surface of the wrinkle or imperfection, so the eye sees a smooth surface. It covers a multitude of beauty “sins” including enlarged pores, discoloration, wrinkles, crows feet and the tiny lines around the mouth; all these items seem less obvious upon application.

REDUCTION IN FUTURE WRINKLES AND CRINKLES

Spilanthol is a safe, pre-emptive way to combat wrinkles. It does this with a topical anesthetic that relaxes the tension muscles that have the contractions that result in wrinkles. This is different from Botox injections that stop natural muscle movement. Spilanthol only impacts involuntary contraction muscle reactions, which is what causes wrinkling around the eyes, the “eleven lines” between the eyebrows, and frown lines.

DEEP MOISTURIZATION FOR 4 HOURS:

Imperata Cylindrica is a common weed in some areas of the world. In the beauty world, it is known for the ability to deliver deep moisture to the skin extendedly for four hours. This is part of why the skin appears so very dewy upon Bellatox application, but it is not greasy or sticky like some moisturizers.

PLUMPING, MOISTURIZING, AND ASSISTING ACTIVE INGREDIENT ABSORPTION: HYALURON

Hyaluron is better known to many as Hyaluronic Acid, which is naturally occurring in the body but diminishes as we age. Hyaluron is an instant plumper: it plumps up wrinkles to that they appear smaller or non-existent. It also plumps the lips, giving a youthful, pouty, wrinkle-free look. Hyaluron plumps the skin by drawing moisture and holding it there: which makes it a perfect pairing for the moisture laden Imperata Cylindrica.

Hyaluron can hold up to 50 times its’ weight in water, making your skin about as dewy as you can get. It is one of my favorite go-to ingredients in skincare. Hyaluron has another beauty benefit for long-term results that being the ability to draw active ingredients deeper into the skin, via the water molecules, than the ingredients could reach on their own. That means the moisture reaches a deeper layer of the skin, as well as the Spilanthol can pre-empt deeper appearing wrinkles.

RESULTS

After the first day I used it, my skin had a vibrant, dewy glow, like it was lit from within. Several people complimented me on how good my skin looked during the day. It has a serum consistency, and it isn’t sticky under sunscreen, Vitamin C serums, or makeup. I loved how evenly and smoothly my concealer, powder, blush and foundation applied over the velvety surface. Although after a few uses, when I wear the Bellatox, my skin does not need complete foundation coverage, so I often opt to skip foundation entirely except for on a few areas such as my dark undereye circles and an occasional blemish. I allow about 5 minutes before applying my makeup, but you could apply your makeup as soon as your sunscreen dries down over Bellatox.

What to Know the HydraCap Conditioning Cap

August 29, 2016 · 1 Comment

Here at StyleChicks, we love long, flowing hair. Courtney’s hair is long past her waist, and mine (Lyn) is almost to my waist. My hair is porous, colored, and I use hot styling tools, so it takes a great deal of deep conditioning to keep my hair in good shape.

CONDITIONING LONG HAIR WITH TRADITIONAL CONDITIONING CAPS
One of the best ways to deep condition hair is using a conditioning cap with a hot oil treatment or a liquid consistency conditioning treatment. This keeps the wet conditioner from seeping down onto the forehead and neck, as well as allows the heat from your head to maximize the treatment factor of the conditioner. Most look like cheap one-time use shower caps like you might get with your complimentary toiletries in a hotel. The problem with these conditioning caps is they can’t accommodate very long, thick, full, curly or unruly hair. Sometimes we end up using multiple caps together to completely cover the hair, and this still leaves gaps that let the heat escape, and at times, they still get messy and soggy because conditioning product can leak out.

HYDRACAP CONDITIONING CAPS

HydraCap Conditioning Caps

HydraCap Conditioning Caps

When we heard about Hydracap hair conditioning caps, we were excited to try them. The premise is it is a larger plastic cap but not with an elastic band. After securing on your head with your hair tucked in, you heat the cap with your blowdryer, and it sort of shrink-wraps onto your head and completely ensconces your hair in about a minute. This cap is much more secure than a traditional conditioning cap. The heat from the blowdryer stays within the cap to maximize the conditioning treatment, and the hot air from the hair dryer creates moist, hydrating heat within the cap.

HOW TO USE HYDRACAP
First I apply my hair conditioner, either oil or a creamy conditioner. For oils, I like Jojoba, Safflower, Grapeseed, or a combination. When my hair is really dry or damaged, I apply an oil, leave it on for an hour or so, and then apply a cream conditioner. I also like using HydraCap when I apply Coconut Oil as a conditioning treatment, as the contained heat helps completely melt the Coconut Oil without allowing it to get runny.

Another way I use the Hydracaps is for creamy conditioning masques such as the Kerastase Hair Treatments and Oribe Hair Masques, which when combined with heat, are so extraordinarily effective to make hair soft and shiny.

When I use the cap after applying the Coconut Oil, I leave it on my hair for about an hour, and for hot oils and hair conditioning masques, generally about 30 minutes. Both the oils and the conditioners stay put in the cap and saturate better with the moist heat of the cap.

HydraCap Conditioning Caps

It helps if you have a friend assist you the first time, but you can do this by yourself with a little practice. To apply the HydraCap, wrap your hair around your head so it will fit under the cap and place the cap over your head. The cap will be too large, so wrap and tuck it around your head, shape it close to the head as you aim your hairdryer at the cap. To hold longer hair, I scoop it up from the back of the cap and pull the front of the cap up, grasping the excess and wrapping it around as it starts to take shape until the cap is securely fit to my head. Start blow-drying on the bottom of the cap, gathering extra as you go and wrapping it, and move towards the top of your head until it is secured. Wait about 20 minutes, and remove the cap. Wash hair as usual.

Size of Hydracap vs regular elastic conditioning cap

RESULTS: There was no dripping conditioner, and my hair stayed warm for the 20 minutes, keeping my conditioner warm enough to deeply condition my hair and make it especially soft and hydrated. I could sit and watch TV or walk around the house without worrying about dripping conditioner or oil. It is also a nice treat to have conditioning hair up in a secure cap while taking a bath.

What I also prefer about the HydraCap to plug-in conditioning caps is the HydraCap is lightweight on the head, and I am not tethered to sitting in one place while conditioning my hair. Plug-in caps also generally only produce dry heat, which is less effective and can even break down conditioners.

CONCLUSION: Since we got the HydraCaps, it is much easier to schedule time each week to deep condition my hair, because I don’t have to stay put worrying about hair conditioner dripping all over the place, and it only takes 20 minutes or less since the cap retains the heat. If you are using Coconut Oil to condition your hair, using the HydraCap helps the Coconut Oil completely melt and stay put on the hair while conditioning. The caps come in a pack of six and are a worthwhile low-cost investment, especially if you are conditioning your hair before or after coloring or other chemical treatments. If you are conditioning your hair regularly in preparation for a special event, such as a wedding or a big hair color transformation, using HydraCaps weekly maximizes for hydrating and conditioning efforts.
