VERSATILE

MY EXPERIENCE

They are toasty warm! Perfect for chilly evenings stargazing,

I find them useful for talking walks on uneven grounds such as parks and trails. They also are comfortable enough to wear when it the weather is unexpectedly a bit warm for the season, while still keeping me warm on chilly weather days. I really like the faux-fur lining and how comfortable it is.

The soles have just the right amount of sturdy traction for walking on wet leaves or when the ground becomes slick from snow, as well as walking on uneven surfaces such as around trees. The soles are flexible, sturdy and not slippery, which is a problem I have found with slouch booties before is the soles wear and become slippery or uneven. The thick Polyurethane seems pretty solid.

CONCLUSION

The Hotter Pixie Boots are a stylish update on the trendy slouch bootie look. They combine versatile suede with several colors that compliment many colors in my wardrobe. The materials are highly durable and they are extremely comfortable to wear with good support when standing or walking. I find the heel height ideal for a day of shopping, traveling, at school, visiting a museum, the farmer’s market or other activities that require a fair amount of walking. They also keep feet warm for outdoor fall activities such as stargazing, picnics, foliage trips, apple- picking, local fairs, tailgating and other autumnal and winter events.

CONSTRUCTION

The stitching is well done with no loose or uneven threads. The straps and durable and do not readily show signs of wear. The treated nature of the material helps it avoid scrapes and scratches and resist moisture.

MY ESTARER LAPTOP CASE EXPERIENCE

I prefer laptops on the larger side, at least 15 inches. But finding an attractive case that looks professional for this size laptop can be difficult.

I also prefer that a laptop case does not look like a blatant laptop case for some safety while commuting or carrying it in public. I like that this case appears more like a vertical bag than a laptop briefcase per say, yet it still looks very professional and it is not bulky or cumbersome. The bag compliments many items of clothing that I tend to wear to work.

Despite being slimline and sleek, the laptop compartment is well-secured and padded nicely.

It is comfortable to carry by the hand straps or the detachable shoulder strap. The strap is long enough for me to wear it across my body if I wish to carry the bag close to my body or even underneath my coat while traveling or walking through busy city streets.

It securely holds my 15.6-inch laptop or my 15 inch MacBook. I like having a stylish bag to carry my MacBook for presentations and meetings where design elements are presented.

It can also hold my iPad or other tablet, charger cords, my phone and a few small personal items such as mints and a lipstick, and it is easy to access the front pocket and zippered cases without having to open the main bag compartment.

While a backpack style laptop holder is convenient, it is not necessarily professional looking for an office worker, salesperson, artist or consultant. A backpack can also wrinkle your work clothes, giving a less professional, unkempt appearance. The option of either carrying by hand or shoulder strap keeps my blazers, suits and dresses presentable without the crush marks that laptop backpacks can make on my clothes.

Sweetflexx: Resistance Band Leggings for on the Go Fitness

I was headed to the gym last week, but it was such a gorgeous day down here at Yale that I just wanted to take a walk. Thanks to Sweetflexx Leggings, I didn’t have to choose!

THE SCIENCE BEHIND SWEETFLEXX LEGGINGS

Yale University’s renowned The John B Pierce Sports Lab of Physiology and Health studied how the integrated resistance band technology in Sweetflexx leggings impacted the calories burned and muscle training that occurs when wearing the leggings both in regular activities (such as walking, sitting, doing chores, grocery shopping, caring for small children) and during periods of gym exercise. It also resulted in burning more calories and improving tone. Calorie loss for a 121-pound woman was documented at an extra 255 calories a day just by wearing the leggings.

A portion of the study stated “If an individual wears these leggings over a period of several days, and does not change exercise or diet habits, he or she will be in negative energy balance, and is likely to lose weight.”

PUTTING SWEETFLEXX TO THE TEST: MY OWN EXPERIENCE

You are probably wondering, can leggings really create a workout out of regular, everyday activities? And if they do offer resistance, will they be too difficult to walk in? While I have used resistance bands, I just couldn’t envision how Sweetflexx could work and still be comfortable until I tried it. I was surprised to see how much of a difference it made.

They were not uncomfortable to wear, I could stand, sit, bend, and do regular activities wearing them without any difficulty. They truly feel like regular, comfortable leggings! Unlike some leggings, they are not too sheer, even when worn outside or in bright light.

The next day, I was sore like after leg day at the gym. Have you ever heard how rollerblading engages muscles you don’t use in any other sport or activity? It was the same with Sweetflexx, lots of small muscle groups I must miss at the gym between cardio and weights, but I could feel them after wearing Sweetflexx, as if I exercised just by casually walking around at a leisurely pace.

It was not cumbersome to walk or sit or move around in the Sweetflexx leggings, my range of motion was not at all impaired by them.

SWEETFLEXX FIT

Sweetflexx appears small coming out the package, putting them on is a bit more effort than slipping on standard leggings, more like getting into a Spanx on steroids type of support garments than effortless sweats. But the first time, it took a minute to figure out how to put them on, more like how one properly gathers the leg when putting on a pair of Wolford hose rather than how one might haphazardly throw on a pair of sweats. After the first time, they seemed to conform to me a bit and it wasn’t a struggle to put them on after that.

If you are between sizes, I recommend ordering one size up. Once they were on, they felt really comfortable.
