New Product: Living Proof Full Thickening Mousse

I’m really coming to love the Living Proof line. They had my geeky side sold on the technology and research that goes into each of their products, and my beauty-maven side adoring them when I tried the Thickening Cream (to be reviewed soon).

Their new product at Sephora is the Full Thickening Mousse. A lot of women think 1989 when they think of mousse, but this mousse would seem to be different. The description states that it creates “thickening points” in your style. Now, take a look at a picture of yourself from a day that your hair looked really good (or if you are having a really good hair day, go look in the mirror). More likely than not, your hair has full, thick, lush spots that “drape” the rest of your hair into a great look (kind of like a great fitting piece of clothing, when you think about it). It would seem that’s what this mousse does as well.

New Product: Benefit Cosmetics Bella Bamba

There’s a gorgeous new blush that I’m dying to try from Benefit Cosmetics – Bella Bamba. It’s a watermelon pink with gold undertones – from the look of it on Sephora’s site, it looks like a beautiful, universally flattering color. It kind of reminds me of the color I aim for when I mix together three different Nars blushes for that perfect pinch of color. Try it high on the cheekbone almost near the temple- it will draw the eye up and make the top of your cheekbone seem fabulously sculpted.

Red Lips Part II: Bold and Bright

If you are looking for a red lipstick to light up your whole face, try the relatively newÂ Stila Acai Crush Lip and Cheek Stain. With any stain, of course, you will want to practice, but especially so with the Stila Crush line – I love them, but the brush can be a bit unwieldy if you don’t take the time to get the layering down, and once it dries it stays in placeÂ no matter what (which is a good thing most of the time, bad if you goof), so precise application is important. Once you get the hang of application, you can do one thin layer for a very wearable ruby red, or two layers for a beautiful bright red. I have a million pretty but empty refillable palettes sitting in my makeup desk draw. Great idea, but it’s so much easier to just throw the product into your bag instead of depotting it. Well, Sephora may have changed that.

Check out the SEPHORA COLLECTION Refillable Lipstick Palette not only does it come with a sleek black palette, but it also comes with everything you need to create your palette, including a silicone melting cup and spatula to get it into the palette wells. Spoon in the lipstick, put the cup in the microwave for 1 minute, and pour into the well, for a professional looking palette! Since you are melting lipsticks, it would be possible to combine colors to get that elusive perfect shade with a little experimentation!
