Health: Nature’s Rite Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair

October 31, 2016 · 2 Comments

Already a fan of Nature Rite’s Muscle Honey, was pleased to learn of their maximum strength herbal remedy product Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair and have the opportunity to test it on two challenging problems, an injured rotator cuff, and plantar fasciitis.

Nature's Rite Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair

Nature’s Rite Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair

This formula contains some of the herbal ingredients in Muscle Honey along with three exclusive to this product, presumably selected to best target the listed indications of tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, sprained ankles & wrists, bruises, broken bones, and post-surgical healing.

The herbal ingredients in the formula are comfrey and plantain to aid in tissue mending, Witch Hazel to relax muscle fibers and increase flexibility, Arnica Montana to support healing, White Willow Bark for pain relief, Rosemary and Thyme to increase circulation and Peppermint Leaf to cool and soothe. Other ingredients are carbomer for gelling, Optiphen as a preservative and TEA for pH adjustment.

The gel is medium bodied with a subtle, pleasant herbal fragrance that dissipates quickly after application. The gel is very easy to use, remaining moist while applying to even a large area and then drying in just a few moments without any sticky residue.

Nature's Rite Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair

Nature’s Rite Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair

In my situation, the action of the ingredients Comfrey and Plantain became particularly interesting upon learning during the initial period of injury the liver secretes an enzyme that causes the activity of fibroblasts in the body increase to produce more collagen, the protein the body uses to repair soft tissue. Comfrey and Plantain produce the compound Allantoin, which is understood to stimulate the activity of the fibroblasts to continue producing collagen beyond the initial period of injury, after which time the fibroblasts ordinarily return to their pre-injury level of activity. As a result, soft tissue repair continues at an accelerated pace after the body’s initial jump start for as long as the Comfrey and Plantain-containing formula is applied. Arnica Montana supports the healing that has been set in motion by Comfrey and Plantain, as do the Rosemary and Thyme, stepping up circulation.

The balance of herbal ingredients contributes toward comfort while the healing takes place. Witch Hazel relaxes muscle fibers, Peppermint Leaf cools and soothes, and White Willow Bark directly reduces pain.

Nature’s Rite recommends applying the gel three times a day for 1 to 2 weeks in the case of minor bruises and three times a day for four weeks in the case of chronic or serious injury and to ingest vitamin A, C, D, and E to support the healing. An important note is to continue the regimen beyond the point of starting to experiencing pain relief and until healing is complete, which would generally be expected to follow the timetable as mentioned earlier.

My injuries fall into the category of chronic and/or serious. It was my experience with the formula that my foot felt welcome relaxation and pain relief from the first day, so I did appreciate the heads-up that pain relief likely would occur before the underlying issue had time to resolve due to the efficacy of the pain-relieving ingredients. Because of the caution to continue the program I avoided stopping Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair prematurely, only to have to start over with the likely return of pain, possibly losing momentum and prolonging the healing process. Nature’s Rite informs the product can cut days to weeks off the healing process and it only makes sense that the quickest route to healing is to follow the instructions in the first place.

As far as my shoulder, it will probably need surgical repair, but I find the product useful in that by relaxing the muscles involved and providing soothing pain relief to part of the affected area, it helps me carry out functions that I can’t avoid since the shoulder is the same side as my dominant hand. I was glad to learn that the product is also helpful during post-surgery healing, so I anticipate using it continuously for some time to come.

For both my foot and shoulder, a dime-size amount of gel on each covers the complete area to which I apply it. To give you an idea, for the shoulder I spread the gel from the base of the neck across the top of the shoulder, front and back of that area to about 3 inches depth and down the side of the arm 6 or 7 inches.

Though the main symptoms of the foot occur on the sole-heel to the ball of the foot, I also apply the gel on the top of the foot and between my toes, having learned from experience, this provides the most complete relief. The type of relief I’ve experienced is a noticeable soothing and relaxation of the muscles along with a lessening of pain to the point that I forget about the foot while going about my business, quite the opposite of the continuous consciousness of foot discomfort I’ve lived with for quite awhile.

Nature's Rite Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair

Nature’s Rite Bruise-Strain-Tear Repair

I’m less than halfway through the recommended timeframe of four weeks of treatment and, so far, quite pleased with the results. As I mentioned, with my shoulder I would expect to be continuing beyond the four weeks and until surgery, followed by a post-surgical course of treatment with the gel. And I’m okay with that since now there’s light at the end of the tunnel, thanks to this very helpful, all natural approach.

Of course, it is always wise to check symptoms with your doctor to avoid masking a serious underlying issue, but, you might find this product a good alternative to many other topical products. Before using any product, read over the ingredient list and make sure that there are no conflicts with any medications or conditions you have.

Find this fantastic product at MyNaturesRite.com .

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased review and received compensation for my time and effort. However, my experience with the product and the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine.

Health: Misol B12 Spray

October 27, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Q: What did Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher, International Celebrity Madonna, and Regular Person Me, have in common?

A: Rumour has it, we all tried Intramuscular Injections of the B12 Vitamin. Marge and Madge got B12 shots to have the energy and stamina to maintain their powerhouse, overpacked, ambition-driven, UK-running schedules. I got them just to try not to yawn my way through the day and have enough energy for regular people things. B12 injections are an increasingly common practice where the shot recipient reports increased energy and stamina, beyond what standard multi-vitamin supplements can offer.

WHY YOU NEED B12
B12 makes DNA and red blood cells. Without enough B12, your body runs out of steam and your mind can feel groggy. B12 is also necessary to maintain your nervous system.

Many people, especially women, tend to have depleted B12 levels. The result can be a host of health and beauty problems. Some health problems include a weak immune system, feeling tired, and weight gain caused by a sluggish metabolism. Some of the beauty problems caused by reduced B12 reserves include excess weight gain, unhealthy, brittle and lifeless hair (and in extreme cases hair loss), pale dull skin, and weak, brittle fingernails. Many hair and nail growth vitamins contain some level of B12.

Low B12 levels can also just make one feel “BLAH.” Some people impacted by low B12 just feel they are not performing as well as usual, like a perpetual “off day,” even impairing their sensory-motor control resulting in more clumsy mistakes.

DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH B12?
The body does not make B12; we get it from food or supplements. Some health issues deplete B12 reserves. Vegan and vegetarian diets often lack adequate B12 nutrients and require some supplementation.

Dangerously low levels of B12 often merit a regular schedule of B12 injections followed by dietary changes and supplementation. A good supplement plan can often manage depleted but not medically dangerous B12 levels.

CHOOSING A VITAMIN B-12 SUPPLEMENT
You may already take a B12 supplement or a multi-vitamin and still not feel any benefits or see tell-tale signs of B12 absorption such as stronger fingernails. It is sometimes difficult to know if the vitamin is even working. The problem with many vitamin supplements in pill, tablet or capsule form, is they don’t contain enough B12 to make it through your digestive system, especially if there is an underlying medical condition (or medications) that hinder absorption.

B12 injections work not just because it is a super-size dosage, but because it goes directly into the bloodstream, skipping the digestive tract entirely.

INMED TECHNOLOGIES MISOL VITAMIN B-12 SPRAY: GET YOUR B-12 WITHOUT DIGESTING IT

Misol by InMed Technologies is an innovative oral spray, a very fine micro-mist concentration of B12 with particles small enough to largely surpass the digestive system and goes directly into the bloodstream. This delivery system makes for fasting acting, robust B12 in your system. If you suffer from digestive issues that impair nutrient absorption, this is an ideal supplement delivery method.

Misol B12 Spray

Misol B12 Spray

MISOL INGREDIENTS:
There is no yeast, wheat, animal ingredients or artificial colors or flavors. I was glad to see this since many who require a supplement due to digestive issues also have allergies to some common supplement fillers like yeast and wheat. It also meets the needs of vegans and vegetarians.

In addition to the B12 (methylcobalamin), the ingredients are Resveratrol (the antioxidant in red wine), and Potassium Sorbate which is a water soluble preservative, Stevia is a natural sweetener, and Peppermint Oil is used for natural flavoring.

MY EXPERIENCE: USE & RESULTS
For several months I have taken an expensive daily B12 supplement tablet. Some rather expensive B12 supplements work for me, but many affordable ones don’t, so I was excited to give this Misol spray a try compared to my expensive B12 Vitamins.

I shook the bottle then sprayed it into my mouth twice, one time per day. The spray is a fine micro-mist that tastes like Peppermint, it is very similar to a mint breath spray type of flavor, and is cool and refreshing. There is not a bad aftertaste like some liquid vitamins or powdered mixes. It looks like a red cough syrup, but it is not a sticky consistency when sprayed into the mouth, it just absorbs and disappears quickly, it does not need to be swallowed. It is flavored with Stevia.

Then I waited…

After the first use, I could feel my body get a “jumpstart” within about 15 few minutes of taking the spray, but not in a jittery overly-caffeinated way. It was similar to how I feel when that first few sips of coffee hit my system in the morning. And I felt more mental clarity and focus. I tried just one spray for a few times, but the two sprays per dose seems about right for me.

I was a bit surprised at this result; I didn’t expect Misol to work as well as my expensive vitamins, or even better. Looking at the InMed Technologies chart, it indicates various methods of B12 delivery and their absorption rates. An Intraoral Spray, like Misol, is 95% absorption. This is HIGHER than the B12 intramuscular injections (90% absorption) that Margaret Thatcher Madonna and I have gotten. This level of absorption is a nice find in a portable, easy-to-use spray and it sure is preferable to getting an injection.

COST-EFFECTIVE OPTION
The Misol bottle has about 200 sprays in it so that it will last about 3.3 months, which makes Misol far more cost effective than even the cheapest drugstore store generic Vitamin B12 I have tried, and it is very more effective than many supplements I have tried, being on par with my expensive B12 Vitamins.

Misol B12 Spray

Misol B12 Spray

CONCLUSION: Misol Vitamin B12 Oral Spray by InMed Technologies is an innovative, effective B12 spray with high absorption capability, quick results, and no objectionable filler ingredients. It is cost-effective, and the results are on par or exceed the results I found with expensive B12 Vitamin supplements. My nails have started to get stronger within a few weeks, which is a good sign to me that a B12 supplement is working for me. And I have energy and mental focus when I use it. I am very pleased to have found an effective B12 that improves my health, energy and has great beauty benefits!

Pretend Play Makeup Set by Cutegirl Cosmetics

October 25, 2016 · Leave a Comment

There has been a lot of talk lately about celebrities who allow their little girls to try on and play with makeup, and there has been a lot of blow-back for that online. But let’s face it: your kids/nieces/friend’s kids see you putting on makeup, having fun with it, and they want to have fun too! Makeup is colorful and feels nice and smells good; it is basically a kid-magnet!

Pretend Play Makeup Set by Cutegirl Cosmetics

Pretend Play Makeup Set by Cutegirl Cosmetics

That is why we love the Pretend Play Makeup Set by Cutegirl Cosmetics. Developed by a doting dad for his two little girls, it looks and feels like your real makeup, so your little makeup protege can experience the tactile fun of makeup without actually wearing makeup. While the makeup is fake, the feel and appearance are very real. No actual product is dispensed, but the feel is the same. None of the products are just a hard colorful plastic; they feel realistic. The construction of the product packaging is like actual cosmetic packaging. For example, the nail polishes open like real polish with actual polish brushes inside. The lipstick has a cushiony sort of give and “drag” when it is “applied” to the lip, just like an actual lipstick. The powder compact is very realistic looking, the powder puff is nicer than some puffs that come with actual compacts, and the powder has a cushioned feel and the surface feels just like a powder. The glitter pan blush/shadow pots are strikingly realistic to a well-known cosmetic brand, and the feel of the surface of the pot feels like a glittery multi-tasker makeup. The eyeshadow has the same kind of dual foam applicator as would come in a shadow quad. As a beauty blogger obviously I work with a lot of makeup, but it feels so much like real makeup in the container than I checked my fingers to see if there was indeed product on them!

My favorite kit, The Essentials Kit, contains:

Pink and Purple Nail Polish
Blue Ocean Glitter Pot
Silver Moon Glitter Pot
Powder Compact
Pink/Purple Eye Shadow
Set of Real Brushes
Pink Blush
BubbleGum Pink Lipstick (Made out of Silicone)
Polka Dot Makeup Bag

A real standout among this incredible set are the brushes. These are the softest, most luxurious feeling brushes I have ever seen. A kid will love the feel, and the tactile experience will satisfy many kids’ desire to play with your actual makeup. It will make you want to search for better brushes for yourself, though!

Now, some reading may feel that this encourages kids to wear makeup at too young of an age. Here is my feeling: Makeup is a powerful tool of expression. Children should learn to use that tool responsibly. If they are interested in makeup at a young age, then let them find a way to satisfy that curiosity in an age-appropriate manner. My mother gave me a powder puff and an empty container of loose powder when I was five or so. I got to experience the soft feel of the puff, and the lingering rose scent from the jar without actually wearing powder. But in the hyper-filtered world of social media, kids are going to want more than that. This is why I think the Cutegirl Cosmetics line is so great. As both of you play with the “makeup,” you can establish a discussion about when and how it is appropriate to wear makeup. Asking your daughter how old she thinks a girl should be when she wears glittery eyeshadow, or would she wear it to school or just to a fancy event gets both of you thinking through when it is appropriate to wear makeup and different kinds of makeup. This is a discussion that can continue over the years even when she outgrows the kit. But, just telling her that makeup “is for grown-ups” and shutting down the discussion will result in a kid who is wearing goth makeup by the time she’s twelve. Kids are hard enough to raise, don’t turn makeup into a contentious issue before it has to be.

But CuteGirl Cosmetics, would you mind making a real set for grown-ups too? The colors really are fantastic. 🙂

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

October 23, 2016 · Leave a Comment

WHY USE AN EXERCISE BALL
Exercise Balls are a very useful in Pilates, Yoga, Crossfit, stretching and low impact exercises. They are also popular as an exercise ball chair. Easy to store and use in your home, they round out a home exercise routine. Almost any stationary exercise, such as lifting hands weights or resistance band exercises, can be enhanced by incorporating the exercise ball to make the exercise more challenging by including working your core and improving your stability. Exercise balls give you an excellent range of motion for many exercises. The key, however, is finding the right exercise ball that is sturdy enough to provide support and be durable enough to withstand use.

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

ABOUT THE LIVE INFINITELY EXERCISE BALL
This exercise ball comes with a hand pump, an extra air plug, and a valve remover tool. There is also access to exercise guides and online training workout instructions, downloadable posters, and videos via their website.

– The air pump is easy to use, it takes about 5 minutes to fill the ball.
– The air plug takes a bit of effort to remove if needed, but I prefer knowing it is in there tight and safe.

TIP: Fill the ball most of the way, then allow it 24 hours to stretch before topping it off to being fully filled. See their website for videos on how to properly inflate an exercise ball.

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

WHAT’S UNIQUE ABOUT THE LIVE INFINITELY EXERCISE BALL?

The first thing I noticed about the ball before even inflating it, is that it is an exceptionally sturdy and thick BPA-free material. I have had other exercises balls for at-home use and have been disappointed at how they deflate, and I am worried that they can’t truly support my weight enough to make full use of them. Much of that feeling I think, came from the fact that they lost air and became soft and just didn’t feel very stable using the ball.

NON-SLIP RIDGES: These give some stability to the ball to keep it from sliding out from underneath you when you are putting full weight on it. I like these for exercises that my chest or back is on the ball, and I am stabilizing with my feet or legs.

SIZING OPTIONS: One of the things I like about this exercise ball is it comes in four different sizes ranging from 55cm to 85 cm. Live Infinitely has a sizing chart to find the right ball by your height. Your body must be properly aligned to benefit from an exercise ball. You know you are on the right size exercise ball when your knees are at a 90-degree angle when sitting, and your thighs are parallel to the floor. This allows full extension of your core muscles to derive the most benefit from your workout.

DURABLE & STURDY: The Live Infinitely Exercise Ball can support 2200 pounds. That is the weight of an American Bison. It has been tested for leaking under pressure or bursting in use and is considered anti-burst. It is durable enough to be used every day as an exercise ball chair at the office to improve your posture.

AIR RETENTION: An exercise ball that doesn’t have enough air in it can be unstable and even harmful. A ball should feel hard and full. When you sit on it, you should sink about two inches into the ball, not more than that. I tried sitting on the Live Infinitely ball and bouncing on it; the ball had “give” in the bounce, enough for fluid movement, but not so much give that I felt unstable like I was on one of those Hippity-Hop style, spring ball hopper toys.

Even a small cut in the ball will not cause rapid deflating. That makes me feel safe balancing on the ball, knowing I won’t rupture the ball if I put all my weight on it.

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

THE LIVE INFINITELY EXERCISE BALL FOR AN EXERCISE BALL CHAIR
Many of us (READ: me) slouch when working on the computer, resulting in a weak core and ruins good posture. It also makes the body tired and stiff. An exercise ball chair allows for natural movement while sitting and keeps your core engaged. I have an artist friend, and she swears by her exercise ball chair to allow her to sit comfortably while painting for hours per session in her studio. She said she was sore for the first few days, but then her core started to get toned, and she finds it much more comfortable to sit on the exercise ball chair than a regular office chair or a wood stool while reaching to paint. Her posture is impeccable, so I put the exercise ball as office chair concept to the test.

TESTING THE LIVE INFINITELY EXERCISE BALL AS A BALL CHAIR
I tested the Life Infinitely exercise ball as my computer desk chair, and while it took about a week to get used to it, I feel so much better sitting at my desk! When I first started, it was not easy; my core was not as toned as I thought so that I couldn’t sit on the ball for very long. But after a few days I built up stamina, and now I feel a definite improvement in my posture and my shoulders and arms don’t feel stiff and rounded, and I don’t crane my neck forward as much to look at the screen. Instead, I glide my body forward on the ball. I can feel my core getting better and stronger each day!

It is imperative to have a strong, sturdy ball if you are using it as ball chair. I had tried using a ball as a chair at my desk before but I failed. I think they were too squishy and not as sturdy as the Live Infinitely Ball, which feels much firmer and gives more support. After sitting on it for the last week or so, it hasn’t lost any air or become softer; it is the same as the day I got it. This Live Infinitely ball is also the correct height for me, which is important, my other balls were too short to use as a proper exercise ball chair. If your desk is not adjustable, opt for the larger sized exercise balls (75cm or 85 cm). If you are afraid you cannot stay stable on the ball, consider placing it on a Yoga Exercise Ball base.

If you have tried other exercise balls as an office desk chair and failed, it might not be you that failed, but the ball may have been too soft or not the correct height for you. It takes a few days to get used to it, but it is quickly more comfortable than an office chair. And it rapidly tones the thighs without making your legs too sore or tired, which is another great perk. The only downside I have a tendency to cross my legs when I sit, which is a (bad) habit I have to break now that I use the exercise ball as a chair.

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

Weekend Workout: Live Infinitely Exercise Ball

CONCLUSION: Hands down, the Live Infinitely Exercise Ball is the sturdiest exercise ball I have ever owned or used at the gym. It feels as hard and full as when I first filled it with no leaking. I feel much safer using the ball because of the non-skid surface. The height is tall enough for me, and the taller sizes (75cm and 85cm) make for excellent exercise ball chairs, which makes sitting at my desk so much more comfortable and give my core a good workout.
