Why Love BEAUTYSTAT UNIVERSAL PRO-BIO MOISTURE BOOST CREAM

January 13, 2020 · 9 Comments

2025 Update: BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream has new packaging but the formula ingredients and experience remain the same. Read our review and ingredient deep-dive

We recently experienced BeautyStat Universal C Skin Refiner, a patented Stable C cream.  The other half of the BeautyStat dynamic duo is the BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream.

what are BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream Benefits?

It hydrates, buffers and boosts Vitamin C tolerance.
Buffering actives is mandatory for sensitive skin types.
But we find BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream stands on its’ own beauty merit with a host of skin-enhancing ingredients.

It’s Not Easy Being The Moisturizing SideKick

The moisturizer product of many treating topical/moisturizer duos is typically the Robin, who pales in comparison to the superhero Batman product. Robin is a perfectly respectable sidekick that does his part. But you’re primarily interested in Batman. You just wouldn’t watch Robin alone.

But know this:  BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream is no Robin the sidekick within this dynamic duo. This cream stands on its’ own merit with a host of skin-enhancing ingredients, each with their own superpowers.

So, let’s just skip to the good stuff and examine why this cream merits your attention: the ingredients.

Ingredients in BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream

Pomegranate Sterol

Pomegranate Sterols is a safe, natural pomegranate based skincare ingredient. Those juicy, jewel-like seeds are arils.

What are Pomegranate skincare benefits?

  • Arils are packed with antioxidants, minerals, vitamins A, C, K, and E plus folic acid.
  • Pomegranates contain three times the antioxidants of wine or green tea. [1]
  • Pomegranate Sterol is made by extracting the arils juice.  It increases skin barrier formation and improves skin hydration.  Testing shows Pomegranate Sterols holds double its’ weight in water.
  • Also, it packs an amazing collagen-building punch.
How Pomegranate Benefits Skin on StyleChicks

Pomegranate promotes collagen production and skin hydration

Ceramide-2

Ceramide-2 is one of the ceramides that hold the lipid barrier which protects the skin. We are born with enough ceramides but lose them with age or sometimes with overly harsh facial washing. Ceramide-2 is used for its’ ability to moisturize and hold moisture in the skin.

GANODERMA LUCIDUM EXTRACT

Ganoderma Lucidum or Reishi mushrooms

Ganoderma is also called Asian Mushroom Extract, reishi or lingzhi. This mushroom has been used for centuries in traditional medicinal practice and is known as “mushroom of immortality”. Ganoderma Lucidum Extract comes from a mushroom with polysaccharides. These are responsible for the skin’s natural ability to hydrate and retain water. It promotes cell regeneration while reducing skin inflammation, puffiness, and wrinkles.

Bifida Extract

Bifida Extract or Bifida Ferment Lysate is a probiotic in the kombucha family. It reduces skin sensitivity and kick starts the skin into healing itself. [2] It is an important ingredient in the BeautyStat duo because it enables more sensitive skin to tolerate the potential irritation of transformative topicals, like Vitamin C.

White Birch Bark Ingredients on StyleChicks.com

White Birch Bark

BETULA ALBA BARK EXTRACT

Betula Alba Bark Extract comes from the White Birch tree. It contains vitamins B1, B2, A, C, and E. It is known for skin healing, conditioning, and anti-inflammatory properties. Research indicates that that birch bark extract can improve the skin barrier, increase skin hydration and reduce trans-epidermal water loss [3].

Also

Glycerin a non-toxic natural humectant and hydrator that helps skin attract and maintain moisture.

Olives benefits the skin

Cetearyl olivate is an emulsifier. It is a natural and safe alternative to PEG. It is made of a “good alcohol” and olive fatty acids.

Olives give Cetearyl olivate hydrating superpowers. The olive fatty acids give deep hydration, smooth skin and give the product a silky texture.

The BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream Experience

  • It is a gel-like cream that absorbs quickly without being greasy.
  • Vitamin C serum, makeup and sunscreen don’t pill on top.
  • No chalky residue.
  • Takes a minute to dry down, but it dries down smooth and leaves skin soft.

We love that it is fragrance-free, just a dab goes a long way, and it complements and supports the BeautyStat Universal C.

BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream stands on its's own as a skin-enhancing treatment AND buffers and supports the Vitamin C Cream

BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream stands on its’s own as a skin-enhancing treatment AND buffers and supports the Vitamin C Cream

Experiment

With several ingredients that boost the skin’s ability to tolerate and buffer a potentially drying active like Vitamin C, this moisturizer is a real find for those with sensitive skin.

Would this cream protect my skin if I overapplied topicals with potent actives?  I had to over-apply Vitamin C and find out.

So I slathered my face with BeautyStat Universal C Skin Refiner.

I slathered the under eyes, throat, near my mouth, under the nostrils, all those sensitive areas in a deliberate attempt to see if I COULD get irritated with the BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream on top.

Then I applied the Boost Cream.

At first, I felt a bit tight but there was no redness no peeling or dryness, and skin looked really good the next day with no hint of my overzealous application.

I typically apply Vitamin C gingerly, but with the BeautyStat Universal Pro-Bio Moisture Boost Cream, I’ve applied more generously. That really helps treat problematic areas.

Results

We find this cream to also be highly useful with other actives such as Retin-A, Alpha Lipoic Acid, or post AHA peels. If you find your skin too sensitive to tolerate these or other actives, this boost cream could change the game for your skin.

Best use tip: We even suggest using the Boost cream a few days BEFORE starting the active topical to get it in optimal shape and hydration to maximize your chances of successfully tolerating Vitamin C or other creams.

Clinique A Different Nail Enamel Review + the Best 2025 Dupe

March 8, 2016 · Leave a Comment

This is product review for Clinique A Different Nail Enamel.

JUNE 2025 UPDATE: Many SC Readers expressed interested in where to buy this Discontinued Clinique nail polish on this Style Chicks Discontinued Clinique products comment thread.

This original product review for Clinique A Different Nail Enamel has been updated with:

  1. sources where to buy Discontinued Clinique nail polish in 2025
  2. other nail polish brands for sensitive skin with alternate options and dupes.

Why I Tried Clinique A Different Nail Enamel

I love a pretty polish but struggle with sensitive skin and irritated cuticles. Even many 3-free formulas irritate my skin.

So when Clinique released a nail polish designed for sensitive skin and eyes, I had to try it.

Clinique makes dermatologist-developed and allergy-tested products. How would their nail enamel perform?  Here is my experience.

What Makes This Nail Enamel Different?

Clinique A Different Nail Enamel is gentle enough for individuals with sensitive skin and eye sensitivities, including contact dermatitis. Here is what makes it special:

  • Free from common chemical irritants formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP
  • Dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested
  • 100% fragrance-free and allergy-tested

Clinique A Different Nail Enamel Shades

Gorgeous colors and safe for sensitive skin, I chose 2 colors.

I tried out both Fizzy and Sweet Tooth.

  • Fizzy is the color that appears in most of their product marketing ads. It is a gorgeous metallic nude.
  • Sweet tooth is a very transparent pink that is akin to one coat of Essie Ballet Slipper, but not quite as pale.

THE Clinique A Different Nail Enamel EXPERIENCE

Both are great colors.

Fizzy shows goofs a bit more prominently than Sweet Tooth, which is understandable for a metallic. Granted, I am a complete klutz when it comes to home nail polish application.

But Sweet Tooth was a go-to color most weeks. And in does, in fact, last a week, which is great.

Clinique Nail Enamel Sweet Tooth

Clinique Nail Enamel in Sweet Tooth is a pretty pale pink

The Top Coat and Base Coat of the line is also great. First off, there isn’t much point using a sensitive skin formula polish and an irritating base/top coat, but this stands as a great product on it’s own.

Pros Cons
Sensitive-friendly formula Now discontinued, so limited availability
Long-lasting wear (7 days) Metallic shade Fizzy can show nail ridges
Clean, polished look with Sweet Tooth Slightly pricier ($12.50)

How long does it last? My Experience

  • Application: Smooth and easy to apply, even for a novice like me
  • Dry Time: Reasonable not super fast but not frustrating
  • Durability: Sweet Tooth lasted a full 7 days without chipping

I also used Clinique’s matching Top/Base Coat, which is essential for maintaining a non-irritating routine. It enhanced shine and longevity without adding any irritation.

Alternatives for Sensitive Skin

If you can’t find Clinique nail polish, here are some other sensitive-skin-friendly nail polish brands:

  • Zoya: Big 10-Free, vegan, great for sensitive users.
  • Butter London: Fashion-forward and toxin-free.
  • Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab Pro: Long wear and nourishing.
  • Ella + Mila: 7-Free and cruelty-free.
  • Kapa Nui Nails: Non-toxic, chemical-free. Safe for children. Read our Kapa Nui Nails review

CONCLUSION

Both were versatile and flattering.

If you like Essie’s Mademoiselle or Sugar Daddy, definitely give Sweet Tooth a shot.

5 Things to Know Now About Clinique Non-Aerosol Hairspray

July 13, 2015 · 1 Comment

UPDATE MAY 2025: Clinique Non-Aerosol Hairspray is NOT discontinued at this time. But according to Clinique, it is unavailable until summer due to production issues. Read more Here.

If Clinique Non-Aerosol Hairspray is discontinued in the future, visit the Discontinued Clinique Products Guide with 16 places to buy discontinued Clinique.

As more public places are anti-fragrance, it is difficult to find a hairspray that is suitable for the office. Clinique Non-Aerosol Hairspray is a scent-free option. Read about our experience.

5 Things to Know About Clinique Non-Aerosol Hairspray

Clinique, long-known for products suitable for those with sensitive skin and eyes, has a hairspray that manages to simultaneously pull off the five following beauty feats:

  1. Unscented. And when I say unscented, I mean not just devoid of a perfume-y top note scent masking the noxious smell of hairspray or alcohol, it is impressively devoid of detectible scent or odor in the bottle or when sprayed on my hair.
  2. Non-Aerosol. Irritating to the eyes and banned from many offices, aerosols are just not an option for some situations.
  3. A fine mist. My primary gripe against most non-aerosol hairsprays is when it sprays, it is in uneven spurts that completely miss some areas and soak others. This is a light, even coverage.
  4. Hold without buildup. A light to medium hold you can still brush through and not get gunky flakes or clumps of hair and stringy pieces. When combed out, hair looks like normal, clean hair, not dull, post-style stringiness.
  5. Hair is touchable after use. Not crunchy. Big bonus.

The Clinique Non-Aerosol Hairspray Experience

Like a covert beauty weapon, Clinique Non-Aerosol is my go-to hairspray for when I am not *SUPPOSED* to be wearing hairspray” like to the office, for outside events like picnics, or other low-key events.

I can’t say this would be my hairspray for a big event or night out, or if I was looking to tease in volume for a high pony tail or updo. For these styles a different spray would likely give longer and stronger hold.

I also did not feel it particularly added any shine (or dullness as some sprays can do), but I suppose that is part of not being very detectible.

SUMMARY

Good go-to hairspray for the office or activities you are supposed to look polished and presentable, but not done-up – REALLY no scent.
