Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil Friday Favorites

April 30, 2022 · Leave a Comment

This week’s Friday Favorite is Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil. Learn about the beauty benefits of one of our favorite dry oils!
Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil contains collagen-building Red Raspberry Seed Oil, rich in ellagic acid.

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil contains collagen-building Red Raspberry Seed Oil, rich in ellagic acid.

Why We Love It

This golden, silky, dry oil combines three power oils for stellar skin results. One of those oils is Red Raspberry Seed Oil.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil moisturizes the skin, builds collagen, improves elasticity, and reduces wrinkles and fine lines.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil is gentle yet effective in addressing many skin issues associated with acne and aging.

Raspberry Seed Oil Facts

  1. Raspberry Seed Oil is rich in Ellagic acid which reduces the destruction of collagen as well as protects against Ultraviolet sun damage. [1] Ellagic acid is also a moisture sealant.
  2. Raspberry Seed Oil contains collagen-building Salicylic Acid.
  3. Raspberry seed Oil also contains a high amount of Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids.
  4. Raspberry Seed Oil has been shown to reduce the destruction of collagen as well as protect against Ultraviolet damage from the sun. Raspberry Seed Oil contains phytosterols that promote new collagen production.
  5. Red Raspberry oil has a high Vitamin E content. Vitamin E reduces skin damage and removes free radicals that contribute to skin aging.

Waterless Skincare

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil is also a waterless product. Yet it retains moisture without diluting the ingredients.

Water is usually at the beginning of the ingredient list- most of the time making up almost 70 to 80% of the formula. Cutting water from the formulation actually creates a more hydrating product because it won’t interfere with our skin’s natural sebum protective barrier.

The Experience

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil spreads well. It leaves skin with a non-sticky, non-greasy glow. It seals in skincare products without pilling.

Just a few drops cover the face, throat, and upper decolletage.

About Bakuchiol Featuring Caley Cosmetics Tropical Melt

April 18, 2022 · Leave a Comment

We previously featured Caley Cosmetics Tropical Melt, a skin-loving combo of Probiotics and Bakuchiol. Today we look closely at how the Bakuchiol in Tropical Melt gives Retinol results without retinol irritation.

About Bakuchiol

Bakuchiol is derived from the leaves and seeds of the babchi plant.

Bakuchiol is a natural retinol alternative. It is plant-based, non-irritating, and clinically proven statistically as effective as retinol. Bakuchiol improves photoaging, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation equally as well as retinol, but Bakuchiol is better tolerated. [1]

It stimulates collagen within the skin, as well as significant improvement in wrinkles, pigmentation, elasticity, and firmness without the retinol-associated side effects. [2]

Bakuchiol inhibits melanin production on age spots and acne scars [3]. Bakuchiol helps with acne.[4]

Bakuchiol is a plant-based phenol that decreases wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Studies show that gentle, natural bakuchiol holds its’ own against Retinol.

Retinol looks emollient but dries the skin, whereas bakuchiol hydrates

Retinol looks emollient but dries the skin, whereas bakuchiol hydrates

Bakuchiol Research

“Our study demonstrates that bakuchiol is comparable with retinol in its ability to improve photoaging and is better tolerated than retinol.” [5]

One randomized, double-blind, clinical study compared retinol and bakuchiol. There was no statistical difference between how each decreased wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. But the retinol users reported facial skin scaling and stinging. [6]

A second study confirmed the Retinol-like functionality of bakuchiol. It also documented the stimulation of collagen within the skin. Bakuchiol was used twice a day for 12 weeks. The result was a significant improvement in wrinkles, pigmentation, elasticity, and firmness without the retinol-associated side effects. [7]

About Tropical Melt

Caley Cosmetics Tropical Melt is an excellent multi-tasker to address wrinkles, acne, discoloration, and acne.

Apply this multi-tasking balm to damp skin and use it as a cleanser, makeup remover, mask, or leave-on treatment. We love the retinol results AND how skin still feels so supple, hydrated, and smooth!

Why Love Dr Botanicals Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer

April 12, 2022 · Leave a Comment

REVIEW: Dr. Botanicals Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer is a day cream rich in stellar ingredients, yet it absorbs quickly and dries down smooth.

Dr. Botanicals Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer

Dr. Botanicals Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer

All Hail the Kale!

Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer contains, of course, Kale.

Full antioxidants, Kale in skincare promotes collagen production, tightens pores, detoxifies the skin, and fights free-radical damage.

Kale has several skin-friendly vitamins including rare and beneficial copper. Copper in skincare promotes collagen and elastin production. It supports healthy melanin production and helps protect skin from sun damage.

Other Kale vitamins include:

  • Vitamin C reduces discoloration, promotes collagen, fights acne, and restores damaged skin. Kale has more Vitamin C than an orange.
  • Lutein increases hydration and skin elasticity
  • Vitamin A promotes skin rejuvenation, cell turnover, and collagen production

But Kale isn’t the only skin-loving ingredient in this formulation. Check out this key ingredient list:

Key Ingredients

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil

Sweet almond oil contains proteins and vitamins A, B, D, and E. It is especially useful on fading discoloration.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter

Shea Butter treats acne scars, including cystic acne dark scars. Shea can feed the skin and overhaul the skin texture, even on deep burns.

Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil

Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil forms the lipid barrier that holds moisture in skin cells, which keeps the skin hydrated. It contains fatty acid oils with skin barrier-strengthening, healing, hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties.

Jojoba Esters

Jojoba removes impurities and flakes, reduces inflammation, and soothes skin. Jojoba oil is an emollient, made of 98% monounsaturated fats.

Jojoba gives elasticity and softness to the skin without causing acne or clogged pores.

Cucumber

Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract

Cucumber is soothing and reduces swelling. Cucumber has a high water content that hydrates the skin.

It also contains skin-friendly vitamin K, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, manganese, and vitamin A. Vitamin K reduces discoloration caused by leaking capillaries.

Cocoa Seed

Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter

Cocoa Butter helps the skin remain resilient and elastic. It is also moisturizing. Cocoa Butter is an excellent buffer against irritation and dryness.

Cocoa Seed Butter contains a significant amount of polyphenol and flavonoid antioxidants. It prevents peeling skin and keeps skin elastic.

Arginine

An amino acid that protects skin from free radicals

Tocopherol

A refined form of Vitamin E. It softens the skin and makes burns and scars more pliable.

The Dr. Botanicals Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer Experience

No heavy scents or residue. Neither makeup nor sunscreen pill atop this rich cream. Skin is left feeling well-hydrated and supple.
