Shoe Saturday: Steve Madden LOVELLY Ankle Boot

September 11, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Hey Folks!

We used to have a feature call “Shoe Saturday” where we featured a fab shoe and then we talked about the makeup to match it (becauase beauty is what we are all about at Style Chicks!), and we think it’s time to bring Shoe Saturday back (especially with all the luscious heels we are seeing in the September issues!). So enjoy today’s shoe: The Steve Madden LOVELLY Ankle Boot in Blush Suede. Matches with lavender, pink, and blue tone makeup and clothes and adds a subtle pop of color if you are wearing neutral to dark clothes. Come back tomorrow to see the perfect lipstick shade we’re concocting to match these lovelies!

Find them at Amazon.com for $129.00.

What to Know Blow Out Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray

August 30, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Is Blow Out Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray worth your attention? How does it compare to Elnett? We tested it out and here are our thoughts on What to Know Blow Out Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray.

How Does Blow Pro Blow Out Serious Non-Stick HairSpray Compare to Elnett?

Blow Pro Blow Out Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray is similar to Elnett with a few features I personally prefer.

Elnett is a beauty cult-favorite since it can hold a hairstyle and then be brushed out without leaving flakes or gunky residue, allowing a quick restyle or even a second day without re-doing your hair.

The hold property of Blow Out Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray is similar to Elnett but it does not have the strong, obvious hairspray aerosol smell that Elnett has.  I try to avoid wearing Elnett around people with allergies or in a professional work setting since I do not want a very obvious scent to my hair products.

But Elnett does have FANTASTIC holding power, Blow is a bit less hold but it also is not gunky after use so you can easily re-style.

How to Best Use Blow Out Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray

I held my hair up taut and straight at the roots gave a light spray of Blow Pro and held it upright for about 15 seconds and it gave great volume that lasted most of the day.

The Blow Out Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray Experience

The spray mist is very fine and does not get hair too wet with product, just a light veil that dries quickly. The scent is largely undetectable which makes it great for situations you wish to appear low maintenance and it is not sticky.

Blow comes in a convenient purse size that is great for travel, carrying in your bag for touchups and for the gym. It also comes in a more economical large size for daily styling use.

New (sized) Product: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Professional Size

August 29, 2010 · Leave a Comment

If you are a fan of Urban Decay’s legendary Eyeshadow Primer Potion, you are in for a treat: Sephora.com is offering a Limited Edition jumbo sized .85 oz  of the original version in a squeezable tube for $29.00 ($45 value). So if Primer Potion is your go-to product, then you’ll definitely want to pick this up!

What I like about this size is that you won’t have any wasted product like in the current hard tube since it’s soft and squeezable. And when you get down to the very end, just snip the end of the tube off and decant what’s remaining. So not only are you getting more of the product (25 ml more than the original size), you can access more of it as well. I hope they run another limited edition in Sin of this size/shape!

We love this “Dior Backstage Legends with Sephora” look

July 28, 2010 · Leave a Comment

This tutorial from the good folks at Sephora demonstrates some great tips for a luminous, sultry look. I like that the look is buildable as well – if you apply the eyeshadow after work, and you have a look that transitions easily from day to night. Check it out:
