July 12, 2022 · Leave a Comment

REVIEW: Epionce Renewal Calming Cream is ideal for those of us who live with chronic dry skin or skin irritation due to retinol, aggressive peels, or skin conditions such as eczema.

About Epionce Renewal Calming Cream

Clinically proven to relieve the symptoms of eczema, including itching, redness, and dryness.

Harnessing the power of beeswax to provide skin calming benefits

What Makes it Special

Beeswax comes from honeycombs

Epionce Renewal Calming Cream is formulated to protect the skin barrier and hydrate and repair extremely dry, sensitive skin, even eczema and atopic dermatitis.

It is ideal for skin that is resistant to sensitizers and preservatives typically used in standard moisturizers.

It is also special because Epionce uses beeswax in its’ product range. What is so special about beeswax?

Beeswax has an occlusive quality to provide a barrier while retaining moisture. It protects from irritants and acts as a long-lasting protective barrier layer from environmental irritants and extreme weather.

Dr. Thornfeldt, Clinical Dermatologist and Founder of Episciences, and creator of Epionce, says:

“beeswax soothes irritated skin making it an excellent choice as a healing skincare ingredient”

In addition to beeswax, Renewal Calming Cream includes key natural ingredients to soothe and treat.

Let’s take a look:

Key Ingredients

Colloidal Oatmeal

Colloidal Oatmeal is finely ground oat grain. It is an emollient and FDA classified as a skin protectant. It blocks an inflammatory response on the skin, which stops redness and itching.

Colloidal oatmeal contains a polyphenolic antioxidant highly effective on eczema and other forms of atopic dermatitis to halt inflammation and itching. [1]

It is the active ingredient in this formulation at 0.03%.

White Water Lily Extract

White water lily extract is hydrating and conditioning, creating plumper, brighter and smoother skin.

It’s an anti-inflammatory and helpful to skin sensitized by topicals, rashes, eczema, psoriasis of rosacea.

Ceramides

Ceramides are naturally found in our skin cells, partially compromised of fatty acids. They are part what structures and maintains the water permeability and barrier function of our skin. [2]

Many skin disorders such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and contact dermatitis have diminished skin barrier function.  [3] Lipid composition in diseased skin is characterized by decreased levels of ceramide and altered ceramide profiles have a diminished barrier function due to a decreased ceramide content or pattern. [4]

Restoring these ceramides can quickly improve skin barrier functions and appearance.

Beeswax

Beeswax

Beeswax is a bee by-product made from honeycombs. It softens the skin. It has an occlusive quality to provide a barrier while retaining precious skin moisture.

It is a natural skin conditioner.

Rosa Canina Fruit Oil

Rosa Canina Seed Oil is a moisturizing plant oil loaded with skin-nourishing fatty acids (linoleic acid – 51%, linolenic acid – 19%, and oleic acid – 20%).

Rosehip Canina Seed Oil is high in Vitamins A, C, and E. They provide nutrients, fade acne scars and promote cell turnover.

Rosehip Canina Seed oil also has omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids to soothe and moisturize eczema or dry skin. [5]

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

Meadowfoam Seed Oil is a very stable oil that lubricates and can stay on the skin without leaving a residue after it is rinsed off.

Apple Fruit Extract

Apple Fruit Extract is anti-aging and skin-smoothing.

Rich in antioxidants, it helps skin retain elasticity and it a very mild exfoliant.

Safflower Seed Oil

Safflower Seed Oil is high in Omegas 3, 6, and 9.

It hydrates dry skin, soothes irritation, and enhances skin texture and appearance.

Safflower Seed Oil delays premature aging and tightens and brightens the skin.

The Experience

The Epionce Renewal Calming Cream formula absorbs in well without feeling tacky on dry-down.  If you have chronic skin dryness this is a godsend to ease red, itchy irritated skin.

Epionce Renewal Calming Cream is not only a go-to formula for chronically dry skin, but for irritation caused by topicals such as peels and retinol. I love it after a glycolic acid peel.

If you can’t tolerate retinol use, Epionce Renewal Calming Cream makes an excellent retinol partner to get through red, peeling stage.

Beeswax: How to Best Use for Beauty Benefits

May 20, 2022 · Leave a Comment

EPIONCE BRAND INGREDIENT OVERVIEW: It is World Bee Day! Hurray to our industrious flying friends! We know bees give us skincare benefits from honey, but there is also beauty benefits to beeswax.

So we celebrate World Bee Day by featuring Epionce, a brand that puts beeswax to good beauty use in a range of medical-grade, botanically-based products for remarkable skincare.

Epionce and Beeswax

Epionce uses beeswax in its’ product range. What is so special about beeswax?

The Buzz About Beeswax

Beeswax is a bee by-product made from the honeycomb of the honeybee.

Beeswax is best known for its’ ability to soften the skin, such as chapped lips.  But beeswax is much more than a natural lip balm.

Beeswax has an occlusive quality to provide a barrier while retaining moisture. It protects from irritants and acts as a long-lasting protective barrier layer from environmental irritants and extreme weather.

It is an anti-allergenic and anti-inflammatory.

Packed with vitamin A, beeswax helps with healing, stimulates cell turnover, protects against UV radiation, and fights against the free radicals that cause premature signs of aging.

Thank you, bees!

What The Experts Say about Beeswax

Dr. Thornfeldt, Clinical Dermatologist and Founder of Episciences, and creator of Epionce, totally gets the potential of beeswax within botanically-based skincare.

Here is what Dr. Thornfeldt and other researchers have to say about the impact of beeswax on skin:

“Beeswax is a natural humectant with protective wax esters to help draw and lock in moisture, keeping skin hydrated, firm, and plump”

“Beeswax provides a natural, gentle exfoliation to keep you soft and smooth.”
“It soothes irritated skin making it an excellent choice as a healing skincare ingredient.”
“the perfect balance of nourishment to calm skin, keep it bacteria free, along with healing wounds and fighting infection.“

Beeswax is especially important in the care of our skin barrier.

Most anti-aging topicals are aggressive: retinols, aHAs, Vitamin C. They can disrupt the skin barrier with their drying, peeling side effects. But care for our skin barrier goes beyond dry skin concerns. Our skin barrier must be maintained and protected.

Why Protect Our Skin Barrier with Beeswax

OUR SKIN HAS SEEN SOME THINGS. BAD THINGS.

Research shows environmental stressors are a significant oxidative factor, damaging our skin barrier and accelerating skin aging.[1]

European environmental scientists concluded that air pollution, UV radiation, frigid temperatures, dust, dry air, tobacco smoke exposure, and even our cosmetics and skincare take a collective toll on the skin.[2]

It is imperative to keep our skin barrier intact. Studies also show air pollution makes skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, even worse. [3]
