WHAT IS IT?
The Flower Jelly Lipstick by Sela Beauty is a modern-day twist on the retro-classic mood lipstick, this jelly lipstick changes color based on temperature, giving a custom lip color finish. Unlike many mood lipsticks, it is a sheer, moisturizing jelly consistency.

APPEARANCE AND DESIGN
This Flower Jelly lipstick comes in three colors; red, pink and peach, pictured here is the red, but the actual stain color seemed more of a blue based pink. Each shade is scented, mine was the lemon scent. It is packaged in an attractive tinted transparent tube and case that is similar in quality and construction to more expensive department store lipstick cases. The swivel mechanism was smooth and intact; all the casing was secure.

This lipstick would make an adorable gift for a makeup lover because inside the transparent lipstick is a small Black Chrysanthemum which can be seen embedded in the middle of the product. It is a cute touch to an already colorful package.

USE
The Sela Beauty Flower Jelly Lipstick is softening and prevents chapped lips. It leaves a stain of color on the lips, but unlike other lip stains, it is not drying to the lips. The stain lasts reasonably long for such an emollient lip product.

COLOR PAYOUT

The hue of the stain is a sheer light pink that becomes brighter and darker as it warms to the skin, but stays relatively light and is decidedly sheer compared to other lip stains, but it is not as shiny or sticky as a true lipgloss. This makes the Flower Jelly lipstick ideal for a clean, casual makeup look for an adult as a topper or on bare lips, or it would make for a suitable lip product color for use by tweens/teens.

The color lasts for a few others except through eating oily foods.

CONCLUSION: The Flower Jelly Lipstick by Sela Beauty in Red is a very cute lipstick that has the emollient properties of a balm with the staying power of a stain combined with the sheerness of a soft lipgloss but without the stickiness. FEATURES
Moisturizing, Vegan, Cruelty-Free, long-lasting pigment, not sticky feeling on the lips, stays on while eating/drinking.

PACKAGING
The packaging is smart: a lightweight, sleek, shiny and aluminum silver, with magnetic top caps. I have had a few lipsticks that have come open in my bag, so a secure top is a nice feature, especially for high pigment colors.

CONSISTENCY
The Feral lipsticks are very creamy with no drag in the application, yet the finish is satiny and smooth. The lipstick stays put through drinking most liquids. The lipstick does not bleed into the lip line, and when wearing off, it is fairly even in color, sort of fading, not smearing. The feel on the lips is not sticky; it is so soft.

LIPSTICK SHADES

ENVY: A hot, vampy red, something of an Old Hollywood movie starlet type of shade. Bold, yet an elegant, sexy classic.

EUPHORIC: A pale bluish pink, but not exactly a lilac or a lavender, if you have clearly pink undertones to your skin, you may have difficulty finding a nude that works for you and is not too brown. This is not an invisible kind of nude, this is a VERY pale shade. This color is a good neutral for medium pink undertone skin and looks great with tinted lipgloss toppers. If you wear lots of edgy purples, this is a good match.

FETISH: Is a more orange-red that Envy, a bright classic suitable for golden undertones. Two coats give a true POP of color; one light coat is more of a natural look.

RAPTURE: Is my favorite shade, a deep, rich, lush claret red that is not quite a burgundy, it works with both very fair and dark skin tones. I apply this one with a ginger hand, though, as the color is INTENSE, just one thin coat will do the trick. For a sheer but pigmented look, I also tried just dabbing it on lightly with my finger, and it gave a lovely end of summer / beginning of autumn / back to school shade. And while not the intended use, a small dot of Rapture on the apples of the cheeks makes for a beautiful blush color that blends well into the skin.

For other Benefit Rush Hour dupes, some potential options are:

For blush – LAWLESS Pinch My Cheeks Soft-Blur Cream Blush in duchess is similar but not a true dupe. Lawless does have a mauve shade but it is less mauve than Rush Hour.
For lipstick – we are still trying to match that Rich Mauve matte shade. A potential option is 3 Custom Color. Some suggest Bobbi Brown crushed lip color moisturizing lipstick in “BABE”.
Bite Beauty Glace is warmer and less pink, a dusty mauve. But the texture and coverage is similar. Glace is a bit more modern in hue. Unfortunately, it is also discontinued, but easier to purchase online from a third-party reseller.
