Why Love Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum

July 17, 2023 · Leave a Comment

This article is a review and ingredient report for Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum

What is Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum?

Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum is a fast-absorbing, waterless eye serum packed with skin-restoring organic goodness to plump and treat the delicate eye area skin.

It is a small bottle with a big impact because Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum has a waterless formulation. This affords maximum absorption of the actives.

And the actives are amazing.

Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum

Why Waterless Beauty

Waterless Beauty refers to when a skincare product formulation does not contain water.

Water is typically the first ingredient seen on product ingredient lists, sometimes comprising more than half of the product volume.

Instead of water, Waterless Beauty uses oils, ferments, butters and oil-soluble active ingredients.

There are no unnecessary fillers such as water, silicone, and alcohol in any Kat Burki product.

About The Patented KB5 Complex

Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum contains something called “KB5™ Complex”.

Kat Burki uses their patented KB5™ formula base instead of water. Instead of actives being diluted, the pure active ingredients work at full force with KB5™.

KB5 Complex is five cold-processed extract essences. Together they create the proprietary KB5 Complex, a trademarked signature blend that replaces the water in all Kat Burki formulas.

This makes highly concentrated, pure, eco-conscious formulations. And they are also remarkably effective.

Lets take a closer look at the Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum formulation:

Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum Key Ingredients

KB5™ Complex is made with:

ARNICA MONTANA FLOWER EXTRACT (ARNICA)

Gota Kola Skincare Benefits
Centella Asiatica AKA Gota Kola improves skin elasticity for firmer skin

Arnica flower is a natural anti-inflammatory. It reduces puffiness without causing dryness or dehydration around the delicate eye skin. It also decreases bruising and inflammation. Arnica promotes healing and reduces swelling.

CALENDULA OFFICINALIS EXTRACT

Calendula flower promotes the regeneration of new tissue and soothes damaged skin.

CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT (GOTU KOLA)

Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) improves elasticity and reduces sagging. It boosts antioxidant activity, strengthens the skin and increases blood circulation. [1]

CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA EXTRACT (CHAMOMILE)

Chamomile is an antioxidant with potent skin-soothing action. [2] It contains Terpenoids, bisabolol and chamazulene. Chamomile Extract is excellent in a formulation with powerful actives because it contains flavones. These flavones inhibit the production of inflammation, even in deeper skin layers. [3] Meanwhile, The apigenin in Chamomile protects the skin barrier. [4].

Chamomile

LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA EXTRACT (LAVENDER)

Lavender Oil softens and conditions the skin. The linalyl acetate in lavender enhances cell growth.

This is combined with:

Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera

ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE (ORGANIC ALOE)

Aloe Leaf Juice has an enzyme that repairs skin cells, soothes and heals the skin. It provides nourishment to the skin as it contains Vitamins A, C, Bs, and E as well as minerals and enzymes.

This skin food heals, hydrates, and accelerates skin cell growth. It provides anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

ROSA CANINA FRUIT OIL

Organic Rosehip seed oil has amazing skin rejuvenation benefits. Rosehip Seed Oil is high in Vitamins A, C, and E. They provide nutrients, fade acne scars and promote cell turnover.

Rose Hip Seed Oil is a Vitamin C variant that is both a treatment and a hydrating ingredient. It offers the benefits of Vitamin C and Retinol serums such as lightening dark spots but without causing irritation.

Rosehip oil also has omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids to soothe and moisturize eczema or dry skin. [5]

Rosehip provides excellent skin rejuvenation
Rosehip provides excellent skin rejuvenation

STAY-C

Stay-C is a type of Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate which is a stable form of Vitamin C. It is activated only upon absorption. Stable C is more power with less irritation than other Cs which makes it ideal for treating orbital area discoloration, photo damage and wrinkles.

NIACINAMIDE

Niacinamide is Vitamin B3. It addresses many skin issues.

Niacinamide is a very good addition to an anti-aging regimen because it promotes collagen, addresses a loss of elasticity and reduces redness. It fades acne scars and brightens the skin. [6] It reduces the inflammation of rosacea and other inflammatory skin conditions [7] It inhibits melanin production in hyperpigmentation. [8]

Niacinamide reduces the impact of environmental damage because it improves skin’s barrier and Ceramide levels [9].

DMAE

Dimethylaminoethanol or DMAE, topical DMAE firms and tightens the appearance of the skin. It has short-term and long-range skin tightening effects.

VITAMIN E

Sweet Almond ingredient overview
Sweet Almond

this formula contains two kinds of vitamin E: TOCOPHERYL ACETATE and TOCOPHEROL. Vitamin E softens the skin and makes it more pliable.

PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS OIL

Sweet almond oil contains vitamins A, B, D, and E and has the ability to gently lighten dark under eye circles.

PANTHENOL (VITAMIN B-5)

Panthenol is an emollient moisturizer which soothes the skin.

Panthenol is the alcohol analog of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and is a provitamin of B5.

Rosemary oil
Rosemary oil

Panthenol is believed to promote cell regeneration. It is a humectant that fosters skin healing.

ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS EXTRACT

Rosemary Extract is soothing and helps reduce puffiness and lightens dark spots.

Rosemary Extract combats dry skin. It naturally protects skin from sun damage and free radicals.

It also has natural antiseptic properties and is a gentle exfoliant for dead skin flakes.

Rosemary Extract is soothing and helps reduce puffiness and lightens dark spots. It is stimulating and promotes better blood circulation to deliver the nutrients necessary to build collagen, elastin and to encourage scar repair.

RETINOL

Retinol is a staple in skincare, Retinol is a vitamin A derivative found in many skincare creams. It refines the skin’s texture by causing rapid cell turnover and softens wrinkles.

The Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum  Experience

Lightly tap – do not rub – this rich cream around the delicate eye area skin. Despite some powerful actives such as retinol and Vitamin C, it is luxe and soothing, so skin does not feel dry, tight or irritated.

The scent of Rosehips is pleasant but present. I prefer scentless products around the orbital area, but was lulled into making this product an exception.

The cream feel luxe yet surprisingly absorbs very well into the my skin. There is no residue left on the skin. This is a benefit of the waterless KB5 base – it enables actives to do their best work and get deep into the skin.

This makes quick work of smoothing fine lines and evening the skin tone.

One pump is enough for face and throat. Nicely emollient on chapped lips.

There is a very light, pleasant scent of fresh plums, perhaps a hint of apricot.

It absorbs and leaves a finish more like a cream than an oil, I am not greasy at all.

Sunscreen and makeup can be applied immediately without piling or running. Mixing a few drops of Ready to Glow with my foundation gives a soft, luminous look.

While intended for face AND body, there is such good ingredients, we use it primarily on face, throat and décolletage. It also works well on hands and dry cuticles. It absorbs exceptionally well.

It is drier than hemi-squalene oil, so if you chose to use it on body and legs, you would not have to wait to dry down before getting dressed.

My skin looks supple after use, not “wet”.

TIP: Try it with your Gua Sha tools, it gives the perfect slip!

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil contains collagen-building Red Raspberry Seed Oil, rich in ellagic acid.

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil contains collagen-building Red Raspberry Seed Oil, rich in ellagic acid.

Why We Love It

This golden, silky, dry oil combines three power oils for stellar skin results. One of those oils is Red Raspberry Seed Oil.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil moisturizes the skin, builds collagen, improves elasticity, and reduces wrinkles and fine lines.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil is gentle yet effective in addressing many skin issues associated with acne and aging.

Raspberry Seed Oil Facts

  1. Raspberry Seed Oil is rich in Ellagic acid which reduces the destruction of collagen as well as protects against Ultraviolet sun damage. [1] Ellagic acid is also a moisture sealant.
  2. Raspberry Seed Oil contains collagen-building Salicylic Acid.
  3. Raspberry seed Oil also contains a high amount of Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids.
  4. Raspberry Seed Oil has been shown to reduce the destruction of collagen as well as protect against Ultraviolet damage from the sun. Raspberry Seed Oil contains phytosterols that promote new collagen production.
  5. Red Raspberry oil has a high Vitamin E content. Vitamin E reduces skin damage and removes free radicals that contribute to skin aging.

Waterless Skincare

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil is also a waterless product. Yet it retains moisture without diluting the ingredients.

Water is usually at the beginning of the ingredient list- most of the time making up almost 70 to 80% of the formula. Cutting water from the formulation actually creates a more hydrating product because it won’t interfere with our skin’s natural sebum protective barrier.

The Experience

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil spreads well. It leaves skin with a non-sticky, non-greasy glow. It seals in skincare products without pilling.

Just a few drops cover the face, throat, and upper decolletage.

Volto Urbano Moisturizing Blue Oil How to Fight Skin Stress

October 30, 2020 · 4 Comments

REVIEW: Volto Urbano Moisturizing Blue Oil How to Fight Skin Stress

Environmental stressors accelerate skin aging. So we are excited about Volto Urbano, an innovative brand with skincare formulations based on peer-reviewed research. The result is barrier-repairing, restorative skin care that combats external aging factors. Today we look at Volto Urbano Moisturizing Blue Oil, a K-Beauty philosophy wonder invented stateside. This lightweight, restorative, go-to oil packed with skin-enhancing goodness.

Moisturizing Blue Oil is a natural shade of translucent lapis blue

Moisturizing Blue Oil is a natural shade of translucent lapis blue

About our Exposome
Our skin has seen some things. Bad things.

We know sun exposure damages (and ages) skin. Research reveals environmental stressors are also a significant oxidative factor. Turns out, skin aging is more influenced by extrinsic than intrinsic processes.[1]

Our “Exposome” is the collective experiences our skin sustains which results in accelerated aging and damage.

In a review of environmental studies evidence, European scientists, specializing in environmental medicine and/or skin biology concluded that air pollution, UV radiation, frigid temperatures, dust, dry air, tobacco smoke exposure, and even our cosmetics and skincare can take a collective environmental toll on the skin.[2]

Skin experts conclude “the skin aging exposome consists of external and internal factors and their interactions, affecting a human individual from conception to death as well as the response of the human body to these factors that lead to biological and clinical signs of skin aging.”[3]

Studies also show air pollution can also make existing skin conditions, like atopic dermatitis, even worse. [4]

But you can fight back.

Finding the Right Skincare For Your Environment

Products to counteract environmental impacts may work well in one location but be unsuitable for another.  Skincare needs in a cold, dusty, rural area are very different than a hot, humid, polluted city.

Many K-beauty oils masterfully address environmental concerns in certain environmental conditions. But these oils are often too heavy and oily for stateside use.

If you are concerned about the impact of environmental stressors, you have probably tried a few products. If K-beauty oils are too heavy for your skin, Volto Urbano Moisturizing Blue Oil is a lightweight but highly effective oil option.

Volto Urbano uses only research-backed ingredients to fight environmental skin damage

Volto Urbano uses only research-backed ingredients to fight environmental skin damage

The Experience

Volto Urbano Moisturizing Blue Oil is a light oil, despite some rich ingredients. It doesn’t feel greasy or tacky. Just a few drops leave even dry skin smooth while quelling redness and irritation. My skin just drinks it in and it dries down to a silky finish.

Rich in Vitamins A and C, it counteracts environmental damage without drying or irritating skin.

It can be applied directly to facial skin or mixed in with your favorite cream.

Moisturizing Blue Oil really shines in hot humid weather. New England is experiencing record high temperatures. This hot, sticky weather is paired with moisture depleting air conditioning. We especially love that Moisturizing Blue Oil is a protective, hydrating barrier without feeling at all heavy on the skin. Skin looks refined, plumped, and dewy.

Only a few drops of this lightweight oil are needed. The oil has a natural lapis blue hue. This is due to the chamomile derived, skin-soothing Guaiazulene.  Let’s take a closer look at Moisturizing Blue Oil’s researched-backed, skin-loving ingredients:

THE EmerginC Hydra-Repair Intensive Topical Infusion Capsules EXPERIENCE

Twist off the top of the capsule “head” and squeeze the contents into a dose of moisturizer or apply the contents directly to the face and throat.

CONSISTENCY & APPLICATION

Since it contains rich oils, I thought the application might be messy.

The capsule contents are thicker than oil, something of a liquidy honey consistency. So I expected it to be too stiff to spread easily on the skin.

But it smoothly and immediately sank into my skin. And the finish was not at all oily or sticky even when applied directly.

Massaging it into the face and throat feels relaxing and spa-like. It helps everything:

  • chronically dry lips
  • eleven lines
  • undereye dryness.

EmerginC Hydra-Repair Intensive Topical Infusion capsule form makes this rich treatment portable for beauty emergencies.

Avocado

What are the skincare benefits of Avocado Oil?

  • It hydrates like natural skin sebum and improves skin elasticity.
  • It contains Chlorophyll, an antioxidant that protects from premature aging.
  • Rich in fatty acids Omega 3 and 6, it strengthens the skin lipid barrier.
  • Vitamins C, D, and E, Avocado Oil promotes wound healing and collagen production [1] without clogging pores.
  • Avocado oil also contains oleic acid, a fatty acid that reduces inflammation and redness while fighting wrinkles.
  • Unlike other fatty oils that stay on the skin surface, Avocado absorbs into the skin for better hydration potential.

Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

Tocopheryl Acetate is Vitamin E.

E makes damaged skin soft and pliable again while reducing wrinkle formation.

Ceramide-3

Ceramides are fatty acids that hold cells together to protect the epidermis.

What are the skincare benefits of Ceramides?

Ceramides create a wonderful protective barrier layer. They hold in moisture and plump the skin.
Natural ceramides deplete with age. Even younger skin loses ceramides when using harsh cleansers or drying skincare products.

Ceramide 3 keeps skin hydrated without being greasy.

Ceramide 3 is often used as a moisturizing ingredient. This enhances the smooth product finish while repairing the skin barrier.

Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate)

An antioxidant found naturally in our skin. It is a less potent form of retinoid that the skin converts.

Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate) is a natural form of Vitamin A that helps with wrinkles and fine lines.

It also boosts collagen production to make skin look younger and plumper. It promotes cell regeneration.

  • Other nutrients found include elastin producing Copper plus Palmitic acid, Omega-6 fatty acids, Iron, Calcium and Zinc.

It extendedly smoothes and hydrates.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is one of the cleanest ingredients with no reported toxicity, it is safe enough to be food grade.

Capric Triglyceride naturally occurs in palm kernel or coconut oil.

It is a mixed ester composed of caprylic and capric fatty acids attached to glycerin. Caprylic/capric triglyceride is a natural skin replenishing emollient that creates a barrier on the skin’s surface, which helps to reduce skin dryness by decreasing the loss of moisture. [3] It can make greasy ingredients leave a non-greasy finish. A gentle ingredient.
