Luxe Hair Conditioning: Allurials Fragrance-Free Conditioner

May 14, 2017 · Leave a Comment

There are many luxe hair conditioners that make hair soft, shiny and strong but are naturally or artificially fragrant. Unfortunately, there are few unscented conditioners that are also effective, especially for colored hair. If you need fragrance-free hair care, options are limited. We love Allurials Fragrance Free Conditioner, an unscented conditioner containing the quality of natural ingredients found in high-end conditioners including Jojoba, Coconut Oil, Avocado, Argan Oil, Aloe Vera and other natural hair nourishing goodness.

Allurials Fragrance-Free Hair Conditioner

Allurials Fragrance-Free Hair Conditioner contains a rich cocktail of organic, natural superfood ingredients for hair and scalp

WHY THE NEED FOR UNSCENTED HAIR CARE

The scent of your conditioner lingers on hair, even subtly, after use. This is wonderful if you like the scent, but for those with allergies, or a preference for only using their own perfumed scent, or for whatever reason you or a partner needs your hair to remain fragrance-free, hair care options become limited. Many of the luxe hair conditioners that are highly effective have moderate to heavy scent due to added fragrance or they contain ingredients that have a strong natural aroma. And, some men just want quality hair conditioners without a perfumed scent.

UNSCENTED OPTIONS

It becomes difficult to find quality unscented hair care. While there are some no or low scent hair care products lines amongst drug store brands, many find the only real feature of these products is that they are unscented, they generally are not very hydrating. And a lower price point, they rarely have a meaningful quantity of quality moisturizing ingredients. Even at a higher price point, including amongst brands that are known to be allergy friendly, there are limited options within their fragrance-free haircare.

ALLURIALS FRAGRANCE-FREE HAIR CONDITIONER

Allurials is indeed unscented. Not just devoid of added fragrance, but my fussy nose finds no detectable scent. Suitable for men and women, it is hydrating to hair and scalp with some amazing ingredients

INGREDIENTS

Several Superfoods can be seen in the list of organic and natural ingredients in Allurials Fragrance-Free Hair Conditioner, providing benefit to both scalp and the hair.

Full of organic and natural ingredients to feed hair

Full of organic and natural ingredients like Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera to feed the hair and scalp

  • Silk Peptides and Pea Peptides aid the structure of the hair. Pea Peptides minimize UV damage to the scalp. Pea Peptides contain Lysine, important for hair growth promotion at the follicular level and sebum production regulation, which decreases with age. Pea Peptides absorb easily.
  • Argan oil when massaged into the scalp aids in stimulating the hair follicles for stimulated hair growth.
  • Jojoba oil is an emollient, made of 98% monounsaturated fats so it can penetrate the hair follicle. It fills in the cracks and damage to bare spots on the hair shaft, especially on chemically-treated or color-treated hair. Jojoba has a very similar structure to sebum, replacing the natural oils the scalp needs to stay healthy. Jojoba gives elasticity and softness to hair. Jojoba is also a carrier oil, increasing the efficacy of other active ingredients.
  • Avocado oil decreases dryness and improves texture
  • Coconut oil is extremely popular in hair care, and for good reason. It helps hair retain protein and moisture. Protein loss is what makes hair look damaged. Coconut Oil within a conditioner is easier to wash out than straight Coconut Oil application.
  • Flaxseed Oil is high in Omega-3s, Flaxseed is a superfood for hair. It helps reduce hair loss.
  • Kernel Oil is a deep hair conditioner that is also beneficial for the scalp and is packed with nourishing vitamins for hair.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice feeds hair with essential nutrients, it also makes hair smooth, soft and shiny. Aloe Vera has a type of enzyme that repairs dead skin cells on the scalp. A healthy scalp means optimal hair growth.
  • Linseed Oil is helpful for hair damaged by environmental factors and styling tools. High in Omega 3s, Linseed helps hair when massaged into the roots of the hair.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

This is a very thick, creamy conditioner, almost a concentrated consistency like a thick moisturizer but not as thick as a buttercream.

I was excited to see many of the ingredients contained within this conditioner, as they have been successful on my hair when used in DIY hair mask tutorials, such as Coconut Oil. But when used directly on the hair, many of these ingredients are often difficult to rinse out because they are so emollient and oily. However, within this conditioner, I found them to rinse cleanly.

Allurials Fragrance-Free Hair Conditioner

Allurials Fragrance-Free Hair Conditioner contains rich organic ingredients like Coconut Oil, Aloe and Avocado but it still rinses away clean with no residue

APPLICATION AND USE

It required less Allurials conditioner to coat my hair than I tend to use with some other brands. And it soaked in quickly.

A dollop of Allurials is all that is needed

A dollop of Allurials is all that is needed

TIP: Rub it between wet palms to fully emulsify it, like you would for a good, thick facial moisturizer like Creme de la Mer.

Rub the creamy conditioner between your fingers before applying to hair

Then I coated my hair and even my scalp and massaged it into my hair so it could absorb. It made for a good scalp massage. It did not feel as slippery or gooey as conditioners typically feel while in the hair, it felt more like a hair styling cream. It also seemed to sink into my hair instead of staying on the surface.

There really is no scent. Even lots of hypoallergenic brands have a scent, albeit light and non-irritating. I smelled nothing.

Since it was not a slippery coating sitting on the surface of my hair, it was difficult to assess when I considered the conditioner washed out of my hair when rinsing. Because of this, I took a bit longer to rinse out than some conditioners, but it was still much less time to rinse out than when I use any of these natural items directly on my hair, such as washing out Coconut Oil or an Avocado hair mask. It did wash out completely and cleanly however without leaving a residue.

VERDICT:

My hair felt strong and hydrated, even my dry ends felt smoother. My scalp felt good and my hair looked shiny and was soft after use.

Because it is not scented, I can even use Allurials Fragrance-Free Conditioner in my hair overnight and wash it out in the morning without getting signs of fragrance irritation such as puffy eyes or a sniffly nose. It does not stain my pillowcase.  This makes it also useful as a pre-poo hair treatment and it is creamy enough to stay put as a deep conditioning hair mask if it is combed into hair while exercising or watching a movie.

Suitable for both men and women who want a luxe moisturizing conditioner with no fragrance or scent, Allurials Fragrance-Free Conditioner provides superfood benefits to the hair and scalp for healthier hair.

Health: CBDPure 600 mg Organic Hemp Oil

February 27, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Hemp is becoming a popular ingredient in recipes and supplements. But it is crucial to get a quality formula like CBDPure 600 mg Organic Hemp Oil.

So let’s get one thing out of the way first: if you are considering taking any supplement, talk to your doctor. Also, don’t self-diagnose a problem, as it could be something more serious.

CBDPure 600 mg Organic Hemp Oil has a nutty flavor

CBDPure 600 mg Organic Hemp Oil has a nutty flavor

BENEFITS OF HEMP OIL

That said, a superior formula of Hemp Oil has many health benefits. Hemp Oil isn’t a psychotropic substance, and you won’t get high off of it. If you are a regular peruser of GOOP recipes, you know that Hemp Milk is quite popular, and contains many nutrients that promote health. The same holds true for Hemp Oil. It is high in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. It is also high in Vitamins A, E, and D.

CBDPure’s website has several testimonials from people who found that aches and pains went away when they started using the product. While Hemp Oil is available without a prescription in the United States, many other countries recognize it as a medicine for pain, rather than a supplement, which is how it is recognized in the USA. It will be interesting to see if Hemp Oil achieves the same medicine status in the United States at some point.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH CBDPURE

TASTE:

CBDPure 600 mg Organic Hemp Oil has a slightly nutty flavor that kind of reminds me of walnuts.

HOW TO TAKE CDBPURE ORGANIC HEMP OIL:

The dosage per use is one mL (about 1/2 a dropper full). It is taken twice a day. It can be taken more as needed, but twice a day will meet your Omega needs, even if you do not otherwise consume fish or fish products.

You take it orally, putting it under the tongue and holding it there for about 60 seconds, and then swallowing it. The nutty flavor makes it extremely tolerable, a far tastier way to get nutrients than from Fish Oil! There is no unpleasant aftertaste.

OUR TAKE

CBDPure 600 mg Organic Hemp Oil is a high-grade hemp oil that can offer benefits to body, hair, brain and skin. Ideal for those who may lack necessary the essential Omegas due to dietary choices or restrictions, Hemp Oil can meet this health supplement need in a tasty, easy to take form. Perfect for those who have difficulty swallowing pills, taking Hemp Oil under the tongue is easy and pleasant tasting with no aftertaste.

Talk to your doctor about this great supplement to see if it is the right way for you to get necessary nutrients to function optimally!

Era Organics Cleanse + Restore Natural Face & Body Cleanser

December 12, 2016 · 2 Comments

Do you know the pH of your cleanser? Surprisingly, most facial cleansers are a harsh 10 pH, whereas your skin is 5.5 pH. This pH difference can lead to unnecessary skin dryness and a “tight” skin feeling after cleansing. Era Organics Cleanse + Restore Natural Face & Body Cleanser is a cleanser that matches your skin’s pH of 5.5. That means hydrated, dewy and balanced skin.

Era Organics Cleanse + Restore Natural Face & Body Cleanser

Era Organics Cleanse + Restore Natural Face & Body Cleanser

ABOUT CLEANSE + RESTORE CLEANSER

Era Organics Cleanse + Restore is perfect for sensitive skin, aging skin, dry skin, or acquired skin sensitivity due to topical products such as Vitamin C, Retinol, AHA, dermabrasion or peels. It is gentle enough for delicate facial skin, yet the organic ingredients like Aloe Vera and Manuka Honey are powerful enough to cleanse the body as well.

It is hypoallergenic, as well as paraben and sulfate-free.

INGREDIENTS

Era Organics Restore & Cleanse contains high-quality organic ingredients like Manuka Honey, Cehami and Aloe Vera to optimize your complexion.

MANUKA HONEY: Manuka Honey (Leptospermum Scoparium) has amazing healing, protecting and hydrating properties. It fights free radicals and is an anti-aging secret to boosting collagen production and cellular regeneration. Manuka Honey works best when combined with hydration, making Manuka Honey within a facial cleanser an ideal combination.

Manuka Honey is monofloral honey obtained from the antibacterial and antifungal tea tree. This gives it natural antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties to heal skin conditions. It is an especially helpful ingredient within a facial wash for acne and eczema suffers. This also makes it a very suitable cleanser for those who suffer from psoriasis, dermatitis, wounds, burns, insect bites, rosacea, stretch marks, and sunburn. Manuka Honey is also known to kill Strep, Staph, and MRSA, which makes Era Organics Cleanse + Restore an ideal body wash for use after a workout at the gym, Pilates or Yoga Studio.

CEHAMI (Centipeda Cunninghamii) is a powerful humectant, filling the skin with moisture. It is an extract from a kind of daisy flower in the Australian outback. Research indicates it works as an effective anti-itch analgesic, an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and cellular regeneration accelerant. Cehami makes skin look healthier and younger.

ORGANIC ALOE VERA BARBADENSIS GEL: Aloe Vera is known for its’ ability to soothe minor burns, scrapes, and heal the skin. It provides nourishment to the skin as it contains Vitamins A, C, Bs, and E as well as minerals and enzymes. This skin “food” heals, hydrates, accelerates skin cell growth and provides anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. This is important in a cleanser as dry and dead skin cells are washed away, and new skin is exposed.

MY EXPERIENCE USING ERA ORGANICS CLEANSE + RESTORE

The cleanser has a luxurious lather and no scent, which are fantastic features if fragrance irritates your skin. It rinsed off quickly and cleanly with no residue or film on my skin, yet my skin felt soft and was not “tight,” even on sensitive areas of my face like my cheeks.

I especially like using Cleanse + Restore on my face and hands. I like using it as a facial wash because my already sensitive skin is made more sensitive by topical treatments such as Vitamin C serum, but this facial wash did not leave my skin feeling dry or raw, it did not sting or irritate. My skin felt soft and supple after use. I used it both as a manual face wash (massaging it in with my hands) and with my oscillating facial brush device, and both methods left my skin smooth, soft and hydrated without dryness or irritation.

I wash my hands very frequently each day, and they tend to get raw and at times red, particularly on the knuckles, cuticles, and joints. Cleanse + Restore is a soothing wash to my hands that does not cause any irritation but keeps me free from bacteria, germs, and viruses.

Era Organics Cleanse + Restore Natural Face & Body Cleanser

Era Organics Cleanse + Restore Natural Face & Body Cleanser

WHY WE RECOMMEND IT

The combination of ingredients in Era Organics Cleanse + Restore Natural Face & Body Cleanser is a super combo of hydrating yet healing, softening yet cleansing, gentle but effective pairings that are suitable for both face and body. I love that it has such a nice lather yet it does not strip my skin of moisture because it is pH balanced to my skin. I also really like that there is no scent at all – not just no perfumey fragrance covering over a chemical product scent – but no aroma. The lather feels gentle but cleanses well on the face, body, and hands. I am happy to find a cleanser like this for travel and especially for the gym for my post-workout shower, so I can wash my face and body with the same cleanser to both protect and hydrate my skin.

Beauty: Island’s Miracle Organic Coconut Oil

November 26, 2016 · 1 Comment

Coconut Oil is a multi-purpose, go-to remedy for many beauty, health, cooking and household uses. Finding a quality grade coconut oil is a worthwhile investment. A brand we like is Island’s Miracle Organic Coconut Oil because 1) it is a food grade, cold-pressed, extra virgin oil 2) it has an appealing flavor and scent 3) it absorbs into the skin with a non-greasy finish, and 4) it makes our hair soft and shiny without dull residue.

Island's Miracle Organic Coconut Oil

Island’s Miracle Organic Coconut Oil

COCONUT OIL USES
Coconut Oil is a fabulous hair and skin conditioner. It removes makeup. It locks moisture into skin after a shower. Coconut Oil can clean makeup brushes and reduce the appearance of stretch marks. There are also numerous health benefits to consuming Coconut Oil.

FINDING A QUALITY COCONUT OIL
For all that Coconut Oil does, it makes sense to use only a quality Coconut Oil for topical application and cooking use. Not every Coconut Oil brand is created equal. There is a wide variety of price points for Coconut Oil. Some brands are not as suitable for eating, and even some of the food grade Coconut Oils are not very tasty or lack an appetizing aroma.

While most Coconut Oil brands will provide some benefits (serving as a shaving cream or moisturizing cuticles), few Coconut Oils are truly food quality. Fewer have USDA Certification. Coconut Oil must be pure, fresh, free of additives, and, of course, be tasty to be used in cooking and baking.

ABOUT ISLAND’S MIRACLE ORGANIC COCONUT OIL
Island’s Miracle Organic Coconut Oil is a USDA Certified Organic 100% raw, cold-pressed (first press only), extra virgin coconut oil that has a wonderful flavor and scent. Made from pesticide and insecticide free coconuts, with no additives such as salt, sugar, yeast, gluten, eggs, shellfish or preservatives.

PACKAGING
Island’s Miracle uses PBA-Free Plastic packaging to prevent toxins from getting into their pure coconut oil. The container comes sealed, as you can see in the video below. I had to loosen it before I did the video, because it came quite tightly sealed!

Island’s Miracle Organic Coconut Oil

TASTE
I was impressed by the light, natural smell of coconut and the cold pressed texture resulting in a densely packed, emollient oil.

It is a quality food grade, making it suitable for use in cooking, baking and included in energy drinks, smoothies, and in coffee. There is no strange aftertaste to the Island’s Miracle Coconut Oil. It is fresh, light and natural tasting.

USING ISLAND’S MIRACLE ORGANIC COCONUT OIL ON MY HAIR & SKIN

I’ve used several brands of Coconut Oil on my hair and skin, and do like the results. What I don’t like is how greasy it can be on the skin, and how the residue can make hair dull. I didn’t have that experience with this Coconut Oil. It’s not greasy and absorbed into the skin well. It is suitable for use on the skin (even on the face and around the delicate eye area) and hair, as well as used as a baby skin ointment. I also used it on the ends of my hair; it left it a soft sheen and my hair felt thicker and softer. There was no dulling film after I shampooed it out.

TEST: HOW TO INCORPORATE ISLAND’S MIRACLE ORGANIC COCONUT OIL INTO MY DIET FOR EASY & HEALTHIER EATING HABITS

I haven’t found the taste of a Coconut Oil very appealing in other brands I tried, but since Island’s Miracle Oil is pure, cold pressed and virgin oil, it has so many health benefits it’s worth trying. I was pleased to find it to be a pleasant taste with no aftertaste or strange texture.

Since Island’s Miracle Coconut Oil is tasty and smells delicious, it is easier to make some healthy dietary changes, such as opting for using the healthier Coconut Oil over less healthy fats like butter, cream or cooking sprays.

I tested a few Coconut Oil substitute ideas using the Island’s Miracles Coconut Oil. These little calorie-saving tricks add up and still give me more energy without sacrificing taste.

1. One substitute I tried was spreading Coconut Oil on my toast instead of butter. This gave me more energy before a workout or long day. The taste was light and sweet, and Coconut Oil still melted into a warm consistency on my toast like butter does, and with the Coconut Oil, my toast was not dry or bland, so I didn’t miss the butter much, and it is an easy switch while watching calories.

2. Another substitute is stirring the Coconut Oil into my coffee instead of milk or creamer. If hot coffee and Island’s Miracle Organic Coconut Oil are mixed in the blender, it makes a creamy cappuccino kind of texture. Coconut Oil is used in Bulletproof coffee recipes, which gives an energy boost and helps curbs the munchies, making it easier to stick to a diet. Coconut Oil in a smoothie makes for a surprisingly good texture, adds some sweetness and gives energy because of Coconut Oils’ fast acting MCFA fats.

3. A fun way we found to incorporate the Island’s Coconut Oil as a healthy fat substitute is for making popcorn! It smells just like movie theater popcorn! To make Popcorn with Coconut Oil, we melted a few tablespoons of Island’s Miracle Coconut Oil in a pot on the stove. Then we popped the kernels the old fashioned way with a tin foil “lid.” Once popped, drizzle the popped kernels lightly with some more melted Coconut Oil add toppings to taste such as sea salt, spices, or cinnamon. Yum! Much tastier than microwave popcorn and without the chemicals.

OTHER COCONUT OIL USES IN COOKING:

1. High-heat cooking, such as Sauteing and Frying, can be done with Coconut Oil because of its high smoke point from its’ heat-stable, healthy saturated fats.
2. A teaspoon of Coconut Oil can substitute for a non-stick cooking spray.
3. To bake with Coconut Oil, exchange the same amount of coconut oil as the butter or vegetable oil that is called for in the recipe.

CONCLUSION: A quality Coconut Oil is a must for every household, it serves so many purposes! A worthwhile investment is a USDA Certified Organic, cold pressed, virgin oil like the Island’s Miracles Organic Coconut Oil, a tasty oil suitable for cooking, baking and a host of beauty purposes. An excellent price for a pure, additive-free Coconut Oil!
