Atralin: a new prescription retinol with less irritation risk

May 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Just started reading about Atralin, a tretinoin (like Retin-A) that contains moisturizers to lower the chance of irritation.

What is Atralin?

ATRALIN® (tretinoin) Gel, 0.05%, is for topical use prescribed to treat acne.

I’ll have to ask my derm about it next time I’m in – this looks promising.

My Atralin Experience

So update, I tried it and LOVE it. There is a nice buffer built-in but it absorbs into skin without residue or gritty feel. It feels so good on the skin, I have to be careful not to over-apply.

Check out the texture:

Retinol
A new advance in the retinol market

Atralin Ingredients

According to the prescription literature, the other components of this formulation are:

benzyl alcohol – an organic alcohol from fruit, a preservative

butylparaben

butylated hydroxytoluene – preservative

carbomer homopolymer Type C – thickener in gel formulas that holds moisture

ethylparaben

fish collagen hydrolyzates – fish collagen, broken into absorbable pieces, used to slow skin aging and for wound healing. It also improves skin hydration and elasticity.

glycerin

isobutylparaben

methylparaben

octoxynol 9

phenoxyethanol

propylparaben

purified water

sodium hyaluronate

trolamine

Stay cool, hydrated, and glowing with iTech Energy Water System

April 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

We previously reviewed the iTech Energy Water System, and am incredibly glad I tossed it in my bag over the last couple of days – nothing cools you down or keeps your skin looking dewy in the AC than a spray of iTech treated water.

I think my makeup looked better and more dewy last night after consistently using it through the day than when I put it on in the morning (over a thick layer of moisturizer and then sunscreen – I knew I had to hit the ground running if I wanted to prevent my skin from getting parched during the hot day)

Find the iTech Energy Water System, Purse Size at Beauty.com.

Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare Instant Boost Skin Tonic

April 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

You know how much we love the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare line, and I mentioned how great I find. Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare’s Instant Boost Skin Tonic previously. In the last couple of weeks I’ve found a great new use for it – instead of wetting your makeup sponge with water, use Instant Boost Skin Tonic to gently pat down your skin between layers of makeup and for blending. Not only does it keep your makeup flawless, the wonderful combination of ingredients – among them being aloe vera, calendula, chamomile, cucumber extract, and Vitamin E – your skin will stay super dewy and nary a line will be visible on your face all day, with no greasiness at all. If your skin gets super dry when you office turns on the AC, I’d highly recommend this technique.
