Anti-Aging Treatment for Sensitive Skin: Vya Naturals Vitamin C Skin Serum

July 1, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Vitamin C is the holy grail of skin care. Vitamin C boosts collagen to smooth and prevent wrinkles, it lightens discoloration and scars, curtails acne, and generally refines the texture of the skin, making it brighter and smoother. It even can reduce the appearance of dark undereye circles. But a Vitamin C serum can be harsh on the skin. If you have sensitive skin, how do you choose a quality Vitamin C that is effective but won’t leave skin irritated? We recently tried Vya Naturals Vitamin C Skin Serum, a powerful C Serum with hydrating Aloe Vera and Witch Hazel to soothe and treat skin.

WHAT VITAMIN C DOES FOR SKIN

  • COLLAGEN PRODUCTION: Vitamin C provides the building blocks for the body creating more collagen, which is key to slow down wrinkle formation and skin sagging.
  • Vitamin C is also useful for skin of any age because it fades discoloration from sun damage and acne scars, and it provides a smoother, more refined, even skin surface.
  • Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant that fights free radicals. Free radicals age skin prematurely.
  • Vitamin C does wonders for the orbital eye skin, including dark circles, crow’s feet, fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration and sagging. Few powerful ingredients strong enough to combat the signs of aging are as well tolerated as Vitamin C can be around the eye, as long as the area gets enough moisture and hydration.

VYA NATURALS VITAMIN C SKIN SERUM FEATURES

ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS

Vya Naturals Vitamin C Skin Serum has the distinct advantage of using natural ingredients without harsh and unhealthy chemicals such as parabens or sulfates.

KODAK Digital Still Camera

Vya Naturals Vitamin C Serum contains no parabens and is sulfate free

VYA SOOTHES AND NOURISHES SKIN WHILE EASING BREAKOUTS

Vitamin C is highly effective but also can irritate the skin and leave it feeling tight and dry.  Aloe Vera feeds the skin and softens the texture. It also helps moisturize and defend skin from irritation.

KODAK Digital Still Camera

Aloe Vera soothes and nourishes sensitive skin so it can tolerate a topical Vitamin C treatment

Vya contains Aloe Vera to nourish and soothe the skin. The same properties that make Aloe Vera effective for burn treatment also create a hydrated, healing environment for even sensitive skins tolerating daily Vitamin C topical application. This is vital to a Vitamin C serum so skin can tolerate the treatment, as some Vitamin C’s can leave skin red, dry and flaky.

Aloe Vera also provides nourishment to the skin as it contains Vitamins A, C, Bs, and E. This skin “food” hydrates and accelerates skin cell growth and provides anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

Vya also has Witch Hazel, which contains tannins. When applied directly to the skin, tannins reduce swelling, help repair broken skin, and fight bacteria. This aids the Vitamin C’s capability to reduce acne breakouts and assists in skin renewal.

HOW TO APPLY

Dispense two pumps of the serum onto the palm of the hand, rub hands together to spread and distribute the serum evenly. Apply the serum onto clean skin, starting in the center and moving outwards in gentle strokes. Use twice a day for best results.

KODAK Digital Still Camera

Directions:  apply the serum twice a day

TESTING VYA NATURALS VITAMIN C SKIN SERUM

Lightweight texture, more liquidy than gel-like. It goes on smoothly and does not dry sticky. It is suitable for use under makeup, creams, sunscreen, and lotions. My skin is not dry or irritated and is it easy to tolerate.

RESULTS

My breakouts are reduced and my skin appears brighter, some minor discoloration such as acne scars and a few brown spots has begun to fade. My crow’s feet appear much softer. My undereye area tolerates the Vitamin C well, so I am excited to see the progress that can be made reducing the discoloration of my dark circles. I like that Vya Naturals Vitamin C Skin Serum is powerful enough to get results but soothing enough to be tolerated on the delicate undereye area, as many anti-aging products are too harsh for the wrinkles under and around the eyes. It is also well-tolerated on the throat and around my mouth.

Visible signs of collagen production such as wrinkle reduction and the reversing of sagging take about 8 weeks.

Vya Naturals Vitamin C Serum

Vya Naturals Vitamin C Serum

CONCLUSION

Powerful enough to tackle brown spots, acne wrinkles, and sun damage, but gentle enough to be used by those with sensitive skin, Vya Naturals Vitamin C Skin Serum provides twice a day treatment to eyes, face, and throat twice a day in a bottle large enough to last two months. It is not sticky or greasy, it goes on smooth and can be worn under makeup, sunscreen or lotion.

What to expect from a Vitamin C and Retinol Skincare Program

January 1, 2017 · Leave a Comment

The first time one spots fine lines, crows feet, brown spots, or eleven lines on their face, one is probably only in their late twenties, but it feels like the start of a slippery slope into looking like a full-fledged card-carrying AARP member on their way to get a free senior coffee. To combat signs of aging, dermatologists recommend a combination of Vitamin C serum and Retinol. Considering starting a Vitamin C/Retinol topical skin care program? Find out exactly what to expect and when from this topical anti-aging power couple, as found in Lordsbury Retinol+C Moisturizer.

Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer contains both 2.5% pure Retinol and 20% Vitamin C Serum

Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer contains both 2.5% pure Retinol and 20% Vitamin C Serum

AGING IS SNEAKY: WHY RETINOL AND VITAMIN C ARE THE FIRST LINES OF DEFENSE

Aging skin sneaks up on you. Your skin may seem dull, less dewy or vibrant, but not old, just… lackluster. This aging starts in our late twenties when collagen starts to decrease, and by 40, aging typically exhibits in increased uneven pigmentation, dark spots, redness, broken capillaries, along with the usual aging suspects of wrinkles, crinkles and sagging.

It’s easy to focus on the wrinkles and sagging, but the discoloration, dullness and cumulative sun damage effects are far more aging to the overall facial appearance. According to an article in the December 2006 Clinical Interventions in Aging Journal, “solar UV radiation unquestionably is the single major factor responsible for skin aging” (Clin Interv Aging. 2006 Dec; 1(4): 327–348).

Fortunately, both Vitamin C and Retinol excel at both building more collagen and undoing sun damage, its’ resulting discoloration, and skin texture changes, as well as restoring a youthful glow regardless of age. While there is a slew of anti-aging remedies and products out there, this sun damage reversal ability is one of the chief reasons that dermatologists will recommend a Vitamin C and Retinol combination.

CHOOSING YOUR TOPICALS

The temptation in anti-aging skin care is to panic and use too much too soon, attempting peels, scrubs, and topical treatments all at once, leading to dry, irritated skin. But the tried and true combination that addresses the broadest scope of anti-aging issues is Retinol and Vitamin C. We like Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer because it’s an all-in-one product that combines a 2.5% pure Retinol with 20% Vitamin C serum plus Hyaluronic Acid for deeper penetration, plus a host of moisturizers to buffer the powerful active ingredients.

ABOUT VITAMIN C: HOW IT REVERSES SKIN AGING

Vitamin C is needed for collagen production. Collagen is the scaffolding of the skin, keeping it supported and firm. We produce less collagen as we age, and we also lose collagen, which is tantamount to pulling bricks out of a wall – it eventually causes sagging and deterioration. But these missing “bricks” in the skin can be patched with Vitamin C application to produce more collagen. Because the skin makes less collagen as it ages, it’s helpful to apply Vitamin C topically to have it present at the cellular level where skin makes collagen, as Vitamin C is involved in all three collagen production processes. Vitamin C also fights free radicals which age the skin via oxidation and exposure to pollutants. Vitamin C fades away discoloration without bleaching it, just returning the skin to its’ natural tone.

Vitamin C can build collagen even around the delicate eye area

ABOUT RETINOL: HOW IT REVERSES SKIN AGING

Retinol helps retain existing collagen by preventing collagen breakdown and stimulate new collagen production. It is a great pairing with topical Vitamin C that provides the production process tools while Retinol gives the skin “orders” to make more collagen. It also increases skin thickness which makes it less prone to wrinkle and appear more even in tone. It breaks up discoloration and scars, which makes it easier for Vitamin C to fade it away. And it sloughs away dead skin cells and encourages new, younger skin to take its’ place. It shrinks pores, which tend to enlarge with age, and purges blackheads.

Retinol also uniquely retains the healthy glow or luminosity of youth that no other product or active ingredient can truly emulate or effect. If you have ever seen an older person without wrinkles or sagging, but their skin does not glow, you know they are maintaining their skin in some unnatural (surgical, laser or injectable) fashion. That glow is what gives older skin a natural young look.

Vitamin C and Retinol both accomplish different parts of many of the same tasks, making them a great team.

Just one pump of Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer treats the face and throat with a potent combination of Retinol, Vitamin C and a bunch of natural, effective moisturizers

TIMEFRAME: WHEN CAN I EXPECT RESULTS?

Results can be seen between a week to three months, depending on the type of aging concerned. The return of skin radiance happens fairly quickly, whereas reversing deep wrinkles and sagging requires collagen production which can take a few months of daily Retinol and Vitamin C use to start to visibly show.

A key factor in how long it takes for Retinol and Vitamin C to improve skin is how well you tolerate the flaking, redness, and dryness that occurs with many retinol and even some Vitamin C products. Many people can only tolerate every other day Retinol use. This will delay results. A Retinol we like is Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer because it contains 2.5% pure retinol, 20% Vitamin C serum and a host of natural moisturizers that serve as a gentle buffer so effective that it can be used twice a day with zero skin irritation, even around the delicate eye area, and even for those with very sensitive skin, like myself.

LUMINOSITY: ONE TO TWO WEEKS

This famous elusive Retinol glow appears just after a major skin sloughing. And it is fabulous.

SMOOTH AND EVEN SKIN: TWO WEEKS TO TWO MONTHS

Within the first week or two, the combination of Vitamin C and Retinol leads to rapid dead skin turnover, which makes skin look and feels soft and smooth, like after exfoliating. Wrinkles appear smaller and less deep because the light reflects better off of smooth skin than dead skin cells, but wrinkles are not actually improved at this stage, they are just attractively “buffed”. Prescription retinol is highly effective in dead skin sloughing but tends to have several weeks of itchy peeling to suffer through. Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer also has rapid dead skin turnover, but without tell-tale peeling or redness often seen in prescription retinol.

REDUCED PORES AND REDUCED BLACKHEADS: ONE TO THREE WEEKS

A particularly satisfying part of Vitamin C/Retinol use is watching pores shrink down to nothing and blackheads mass exit your face, even the stubborn ones around your nose. This pore-shrinking is surprisingly youthifying, as it’s something that unknowingly makes one look older.

ACNE: WEEKS THREE AND FOUR

Vitamin C tackles acne quickly. Retinol removes the dead skin cells and sebum congesting pores. There is a brief period a few weeks into retinol use that the pores purge with a temporary major breakout, then skin remains largely clear after that period. Cystic acne takes longer to clear but daily Vitamin C use is excellent for shrinking the inflammation out of cystic acne.

Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer treats even adult cystic acne with Retinol and Vitamin C, plus reduces inflammation with Wildcrafted Green Tea and Aloe Vera

Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer treats even adult cystic acne with Retinol and Vitamin C while reducing redness and inflammation with Wildcrafted Green Tea and Aloe Vera. Plus, it fades brown spots, uneven tone and discoloration caused by years of sun damage and even fades old acne scars

DISCOLORATION FROM PHOTOAGING (SUN DAMAGE): 2 to 6 MONTHS

This is one of Retinols and Vitamin C’s best tricks, reversing years of sun damage. How fast you see results depend on how much damage you have, but even severe sun damage can be vastly improved within three to six months. Vitamin C builds collagen and fades discoloration, improving sun damaged skin’s texture and even tone. According to the same article cited above, Retinol is the most effective treatment reversing skin damage, generally within three to six months, but most users won’t tolerate the burning, scaling, itching, peeling and general dermatitis issues associated with retinoid therapy. This is where buffering your retinol with moisturizers, such as those found in the all-in-one Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer, becomes crucial to assure regular, consistent use.

CONCLUSION

Few treatments can hold a candle to what daily use of Retinol and Vitamin C can do for the skin in terms of reversing sun damage and restoring the skin. The key to making this program work for you is finding a Retinol and Vitamin C that you can use consistently each day without excess irritation or redness. Lordsbury Retinol+C Cream Moisturizer provides 2.5% pure Retinol with 20% Vitamin C serum in a high moisturizing cream base that contains many natural moisturizing agents so that you can tolerate daily use. In fact, you can use it twice a day without irritation. Once you see the wonderful youthful luminosity that Retinol can give your skin, you won’t want to stop, so Lordsbury gives the ability for daily use without any irritation, just soft, smooth, increasingly younger and better skin.

Skincare: InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum

October 21, 2016 · 6 Comments

WHY USE A VITAMIN C SERUM?
Vitamin C Serum is used for anti-aging purposes because it aids in the production of collagen, a vital building block of skin which gives skin its’ support. As we age, we lose collagen which is why skin begins to sag, wrinkle and look dull. Vitamin C also lightens discoloration caused by brown spots, old acne scars, and dark undereye circles. Even if you are in your twenties, a Vitamin C Serum can be beneficial to reduce acne, fade acne scars, and build collagen reserves.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT INSTANATURAL VITAMIN C SERUM

I find two things special about this serum: it makes skin look healthy and youthful like an optical diffuser, and it has a cocktail of ingredients to deliver results quickly.

InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum

InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum

APPLICATION AND USE
InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum has a powerhouse of ingredients that do not leave skin sticky, dry or greasy. I can easily apply makeup on top of the serum, and my skin is not dry or tight feeling after use. Skin looks VERY GOOD immediately after application: pores tighten, there is a beautiful glow to the skin, wrinkles appear plumped. I like this in a Vitamin C Serum because I prefer to wear my Vitamin C during the day under my sunscreen and makeup.

But apart from that it looks good, it is important to derive benefits from your serum. What makes InstaNatural Vitamin C unique? Some ingredients give a Vitamin C serum an extra kick and can make a real difference for aging skin because it accelerates collagen production. Vitamin C alone is a building block, but the body needs to know to produce more collagen. Various skin care ingredients can aid in the collagen production process in many ways. Some products contain one or two of these collagen production promoting ingredients, but InstaNatural Vitamin C has several of them in this serum.

NOTE: You will notice this serum is opaque, not transparent. This is due to the super-anti-aging Sea Buckthorn Oil. The color of this product is NOT an indication that the Vitamin C has turned old and ineffective. See the video below to note the color of the product fresh from the manufacturer.

INGREDIENTS:

In addition to 20% Vitamin C, some of the helpful ingredients include:

Hyaluronic Acid. When a product pairs Vitamin C with Hyaluronic Acid, it is often a very effective. The reason it is so effective is two-fold: Hyaluronic Acid holds a tremendous amount of moisture which both plumps the skin and makes the skin appear youthfully dewy almost immediately. It fills wrinkles and enlarged pores to make them less visible. The second reason Hyaluronic Acid pairs great with a Vitamin C serum is that Hyaluronic Acid helps active ingredients reach deeper layers of the skin. The deeper the Vitamin C can reach into the skin; the better collagen building supports the skin receives.

Ferulic Acid is a skin-brightening antioxidant that found in fruit. This is not often paired with a Vitamin C Serum, but it makes for glowing skin. Skin dulls with age, and even a younger person would be happy to get brighter skin tone.

Vitamin E is well-known in skin care, in this serum, it makes skin more pliable and soothes the skin to avoid any irritation. I slather the serum on pretty liberally, and I have had no dry, red or irritated spots, even around the sensitive eye area or on my throat.

Rosehip Oil contains powerful antioxidants to remove toxins and improve the skin texture. Visible results can be seen especially quickly on sun damaged skin. It is also useful to soothe the skin from any irritation. I find it works well on acne scars and rougher skin areas.

Sea Buckthorn Oil is what gives this Vitamin C its opaque color. Sea Buckthorn Oil is a boon to any anti-aging skin care product because it accomplishes so many tasks including providing over 200 nutrients to the skin to feed it, it soothes sensitive skin, it heals skin damage including scars, burns, and abrasions. Most importantly, though, Sea Buckthorn Oil encourages collagen production by treating aged or damaged skin as if it were wounded skin that needs extra help to heal. It calls repairing cells to rescue skin, going into collagen production overdrive. Sea Buckthorn Oil

Plant Stem Cells is a phrase often used in skin care, and the exact definition is often vague. In the context of Vitamin C Serums, stem cells call the body to rapid collagen production to action while the building blocks of topical Vitamin C are present.

InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum

InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum

CONCLUSION: A generous sized bottle for the price, I am very pleased with how dewy and flawless the InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum makes my skin look upon application. Many Vitamin C serums leave skin oily or sticky or dry; this serum just looks good while it is worn. The combination of ingredients is a nice one to provide gentle, but robust treatment to the skin, such as lightening dark circles, fading age spots and improving the appearance and texture of sun damage and scarring.

I am happy to see improved texture to my skin, and use this on my face, eye area, throat, decolletage, and hands.

Skincare: Aurora Cure Ultimate 20% Vitamin C Serum

September 23, 2016 · Leave a Comment

SUMMARY: Aurora Cure Ultimate Vitamin C Serum is a Professional Grade 20% Vitamin C, paired with Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, Horsetail, Gotu Kola, as well as Organic Aloe Vera and Jojoba. This ingredient cocktail makes for an anti-aging, acne fighting, wrinkle sacking, dark circle reducing powerhouse. There are lots of Vitamin C Serums, but this combination of ingredients provides a terrific combination for better skin fast. Oh, and it absorbs completely without being sticky or leaving a film on the skin.

Aurora Cure Ultimate 20% Vitamin C Serum

Aurora Cure Ultimate 20% Vitamin C Serum

WHO SHOULD USE A VITAMIN C SERUM?
In short, practically anybody. Vitamin C Serum addresses the source of the primary beauty-based skin complaints: increases collagen production, acne control, fading discoloration, and loss of luminance. Collagen production decreases sagging and wrinkles and restores a dewy glow to the skin. It also addresses deep skin layer scarring and age spots. Daily use of Vitamin C Serum can result in much younger, softer, even-tone skin within weeks.

CAN PEOPLE WITH SENSITIVE SKIN USE A PROFESSIONAL GRADE VITAMIN C SERUM?
Some with very sensitive skin find Vitamin C Serum too drying or too irritating. If you have sensitive skin, you might shy away from a Professional Strength product. Those with sensitive skin can still use Vitamin C Serums as long as they select a serum that includes balancing ingredients such as those found in Aurora Cure Ultimate Vitamin C Serum.

WHAT SETS AURORA CURE ULTIMATE VITAMIN C SERUM APART FROM OTHER SERUMS FOR USE BY BOTH SENSITIVE AND TYPICAL SKIN

Aurora Cure Ultimate Vitamin C Serum is a full Professional Strength 20% Vitamin C potency, but it also contains several supporting ingredients to enable sensitive and regular skin types to tolerate the treatment.

Aurora Cure Ultimate Vitamin C Serum has several supporting ingredients that soothe skin and allow it to tolerate the serum including Organic Aloe Vera and Organic Jojoba. Both Aloe Vera and Jojoba enhance the ability to tolerate the drying effects of Vitamin C without impairing the absorption of it within the skin. Witch Hazel is a topical anti-inflammatory, reducing any irritation and redness associated with Vitamin C Serum use. These ingredients help sensitive and non-sensitive skins make the most of an anti-aging Vitamin C serum routine.

IMPROVING SKIN: WHAT AND HOW AURORA CURE ULTIMATE VITAMIN C SERUM’S PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH INGREDIENTS ACCOMPLISH MAKING BETTER SKIN

I swear by Vitamin C Serum use, but it is the active ingredients paired with it that make all the difference when it comes to treating problems like aging, discoloration, sagging, wrinkles and dark circles.

20% Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a building block to build collagen, the cement that holds together the build blocks of the skin. Less collagen means weaker skin, loss of tone and radiance, wrinkles and sagging. More collagen means the prevention and partial reversal of these problems.

Other active ingredients include Hyaluronic Acid, Gotu Kola, Vitamin E, and Horsetail.

HYALURONIC ACID
Hyaluronic Acid is my favorite ingredient to pair with Vitamin C. First; it holds TONS of moisture. It just sucks moisture into your skin, plumping skin to temporarily but immediately fill out small wrinkles and crinkles, and smoothing sagging skin to dewy and plump skin. The second thing Hyaluronic Acid does is pull the active ingredients deeper into the skin, meaning Vitamin C reaches deeper layers of the skin with Hyaluronic Acid than it ever could without it, it is like a ticket to the VIP lounge of dermal layers. Vitamin C reaching deeper layers means increased collagen production within supportive skin layers and treatment deeper wrinkles, sagging, discoloration, old scars, and even dark circles can improve due to the powerful Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid duo. Aurora Cure Vitamin C contains a whopping 11% Hyaluronic Acid, which is very generous for the price of the bottle.

GOTU KOLA
Gotu Kola is new to anti-aging skin care but has long been used for wound healing because of its’ ability to promote collagen production. Gotu Kola in a Vitamin C Serum is great as it calls the body to action to make collagen, and the Vitamin C provides the building blocks for collagen production. What a team!

VITAMIN E
Vitamin E paired with Vitamin C it gives skin softness and pliability. Much of the rougher texture of some skin patches improves.

HORSETAIL
Horsetail makes for more flexible skin, especially in connective skin layers and tissue. Wrinkles and sagging are not just the results of skin surface aging, but laxity in supportive structure ligaments, muscles and connective layers that hold up facial skin. Horsetail adds strength to these connective layers to keep the skin structure as pliable yet taut as possible. Horsetail is also benefited by the inclusion of the Hyaluronic Acid to reach deeper skin layers. As a side benefit, Horsetail also lightens discoloration, particularly the dark shadow area of wrinkles.

Aurora Cure Ultimate 20% Vitamin C Serum

Aurora Cure Ultimate 20% Vitamin C Serum

APPLICATION
There is no unpleasant scent, and the serum is not sticky, it dries down well. It is more of a thick watery liquid than a gel or serum texture, so there is no residue or stickiness. I apply my moisturizer and my eye cream directly over the serum after about 5 minutes.

Use daily for best results. Many people pair a Vitamin C serum during the day with a Retinol at night, but twice a day use of a Vitamin C Serum will fade discoloration and acne scarring faster.

Aurora Cure Ultimate 20% Vitamin C Serum

Aurora Cure Ultimate 20% Vitamin C Serum

TIP: It is imperative to moisturize when using Vitamin C Serum. Aurora Care Ultimate Vitamin C Serum works synergistically with their Hyaluronic Acid Serum. And bonus, skin looks and feels fantastic when this duo is used together! So plump, dewy, smooth and youthful looking!

RESULTS
These ingredients together hit all the bases when seeking a high-quality Vitamin C Serum: ingredients to soothe and nourish, increase tolerance to strong ingredients, ingredients that cause immediate improvement, some that support collagen production and skin structure, and some that fade existing scars and brown spots. But the real question is – how long do you use a Vitamin C to see results?

With daily use, acne control happens quickly; you’ll see improvement within the week. The fading of scarring and age spots is generally within a few weeks, and collagen production shows within about four – six weeks time when sagging and wrinkles significantly diminish. The Hyaluronic Acid, Jojoba and Aloe and Vitamin E give a softer look to skin immediately upon application.

CONCLUSION: I am very pleased to have tried this Serum, it has a powerhouse of ingredients that are not often seen in tandem but together they provide an excellent Vitamin C Serum that applies quickly, dries down completely, and skin looks dewy and plump while it is worn. Highly recommended!
