Product Review: Citrus Clear Sensitive Face Wash

June 2, 2015 · Leave a Comment

Continuing our reviews of the great Citrus Clear products we were sent, today we’ll be talking about the excellent Sensitive Face Wash.

About Citrus Clear Sensitive Face Wash

Citrus Clear Sensitive Face Wash is a fantastic cleanser for those who love that glowing luminosity that fruit acid cleansers give to the skin, but can’t tolerate the harshness of daily usage. It is an incredibly gentle formula, but it still gives the skin a smooth, luminous look, even with daily usage.

Especially since it is a gentle formula, I am very impressed with how well it exfoliates the skin. I used it in the shower the first time and was a bit concerned that it would irritate my skin considering how fresh and smooth my face felt (like after an at-home glycolic peel), but my skin wasn’t red or dried out when I got out of the shower, just smooth with a youthful glow.

Ingredients

And if you are wondering about the ingredients that can pull off that kind of result without making your skin red:

Organic Citrus Herbals, Organic Aloe Vera Juice, MSM, Lavender Hydrosol, Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropyl Betaine (from coconuts), Cocamide MIPA, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Carrageenan Gum, Olive Oil, Vitamin C, Tahitian Lime Fragrance, Wildcrafted Willow Bark, Wildcrafted Lemon Balm, Orange Hydrosol, Citrus Lemon Essential Oil, Citrus Lime Essential Oil, Mandarin Essential Oil, Orange Peel Extract, Peppermint Essential Oil, Grapefruit Seed, Organic Rosehip Oil, Borage Oil, Oregano Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Calendula, Burdock Root, Red Clover, Rosemary, Vitamin E, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin

Summary

As far as the product itself, the gel based formula has a real feeling of luxury: the topnote scent reminds me a bit of Creed’s Millesime Imperial, a fresh and lush lime scent. The feel of the gel is incredibly silky upon application and washes clean without any residue. The pump container has feeling of substance to it, not a flimsy plastic. It really is a lovely cleanser.

Product Review: Citrus Clear Grapefruit Acne Spot Treatment

June 1, 2015 · Leave a Comment

Citrus Clear Grapefruit Acne Spot TreatmentThis week we’ll be talking about some great skincare products that we received for review from Citrus Clear, an amazing all-natural brand.

I love when a product defies expectations. Such is the case with Citrus Clear’s Grapefruit Acne Spot Treatment. All of the products that Citrus Clear sent us are amazing, but the Acne Spot Treatment blew me – and my hormonal acne – away.

Here is my history with acne: through my teens and twenties, I managed to keep acne at bay. Little did I know that when I got into my thirties, I would start getting a couple of blemishes each month. You know that commercial where Tina Fey jokes she has the chin of an 18 year old? Kind of like that. After trying various products (drugstore, high end, prescription, homeopathic, and everything in between), I was pretty happy with Clinique’s Acne Solutions Clearing Gel. It takes pimples down, but slowly.

Enter Citrus Clear Grapefruit Acne Spot Treatment.

The morning I received my samples from Citrus Clear, my mother sat me down and I assumed something was very, very wrong. Then she said that I should make an appointment with my derm to get a cortisone injection in the two new pimples I had. Apparently it was a very serious matter. (of note: I had no special events coming up in the timing.) So I figured I’d call the dermatologist later in the day.

Then I applied the Citrus Clear Grapefruit Acne Spot Treatment. One pimple was flat in an hour, and no longer red in two hours. It was gone by the end of the day. A long term cystic acne spot was reduced my at least 50% in a day and has stayed flat after a few days of application, and I can only feel a fraction of it under my skin now. And I don’t have to cover either spot with concealer.

Needless to say, I did not make that dermatologist appointment after all.

Ingredients

So given the lack of a genie in a bottle (or 1oz tube in this case) granting me a clear-skin wish, how does this great stuff work? Check out the ingredient list:

Organic Herbs, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Green Tea & Lime, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Carrageenan Gum, Wildcrafted Melissa Officinalis (Lemon Balm), Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit Seed Extract), Citrus Aurantium (Orange Hydrosol), Citrus Limon (Lemon Essential Oil), Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime Essential Oil), Citrus Reticulata (Mandarin Essential Oil), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange Peel Extract), Wildcrafted Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea Extract), Wildcrafted Salix Lucida (Salicylic Acid), Colloidal Silver, Eugenia Caryophyllata (Clove Essential Oil), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Ethyl Hexyl Glycerin

So it is absolutely packed with ingredients to soothe inflammation while sacking the blemish. Salicylic Acid does wonders to bring down acne quickly, Vitamin C is amazing for skin, Aloe Vera and Green Tea soothe the skin, as does Vitamin E. And notice how you actually know all the ingredients in that list? I like that.

I plan on stockpiling these tubes, and at $12 each, keeping one at home, in your purse, and at the office is more than affordable. I really am thrilled to find a product that works quickly and effectively. And it smells amazing – a true grapefruit scent, with the slightest peach hint to it (probably because the secondary note is green tea.) Because if you have to be broken out, it’s nice to be smelling a scent that makes you happy and peppy!

Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker How to Use

May 5, 2015 · Leave a Comment

REVIEW + How-to Guide for Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker by Chosungah Beauty, a K-Beauty brow brand.

2025 UPDATE: WHERE TO FIND Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker by Chosungah Beauty IN 2025

I wasn’t planning on buying a new brow product. But there it was.

Brow Product Problems

  • My brows are not thin or sparse but I do overpluck occasionally on the tail and arch.
  • I have these peach fuzz hairs on the top of the brow that look better with a little color to make my brows appear lifted.
  • I don’t like powdery brows and worry about Joan Crawford brow when I use a pencil and I don’t like how flat and matte the color of my brows are when I use brow mousse.
  • Shiny brow gels look fake on me.

About Chosungah Beauty

I browse Sephora.com before visiting the brick and mortar to know what to test in person.

But this brand, Chosungah Beauty, was new to me. It was even new to the Sephora ladies.

It caught my eye with the crazy candy store like packaging next to a sign that said:Chosungah 22 Sign At sephora

Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker, $22 Popular Korean Beauty Brand Developed by makeup artist Chosungah. Unique, two-in-one angled applicator shapes brows long-wearing, smudge-proof gel formula.

Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker Packaging

packaging for Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker from Chosungah Beauty It is sort of bulky and looks like a mini highlighter marker. So at first, I didn’t expect much.

I am not even sure why I tried it, but I am sure glad that I did.

Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker Benefits

Some features and benefits I really like:

  1. It is gel based, so it is high pigment, no goopy cream. Brows look very natural, and only a little is needed because it is pigmented enough to be almost opaque.
  2. The texture reminds brow tip closeup of Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker from Chosungah Beauty.me a bit of my beloved, yet-to-be-duped, original formula Shu Uemura Basic Black mascara a gel with pigment that didn’t quit or clump.
  3. The applicator has a mascara spool wand with an angled sponge applicator tip for drawing in the eyebrow tail (if needed) this tip doubles nicely for eyeliner application. There is a flat side to fill in very sparse areas
  4. While not the purpose of the product, this doubles as a great stay-on-all-day-where-I-put-it cover up for roots in-between hair coloring appointments.
  5. Waterproof. Doesn’t wipe off or smudge during the day, and survived intact after my major mid-day dampened Beauty Blender foundation cleanup & re-do in the surrounding eye area.
  6. No flaking. None. All day.

The Chosungah 22 Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker Experience

I can’t really say it styles the brows to keep them in place during the day like a brow gel set product such as LASHFOOD BROWFOOD Tinted Brow Enhancing Gelfix, because it is not at all sticky.

Brow Maker deposits color on the tiniest of hairs. Did not need to re-apply during the day and it stayed fresh for more than 12 hours.

Clean up during application: For the first few uses, I had a few q-tips ready to clean up any product that accidentally got on my skin and used an eyelash comb to get out a tiny spot with two much product. It doesn’t clump. You don’t need much product to get the job done

Comes in four colors: Light Blonde, Grey Blonde, Medium Blonde, Black Brown. I am wearing black brown in the photos below, but I probably could have gone with medium blonde as well.

Usage Tips: Brush the applicator lightly against the eyebrow grain to color the hair. Style and shape the by lightly stroking the hair from the head of the brow towards the tail. To emphasize the brow-tail, use the sponge tip at the end of the brush to draw and lengthen.

VERDICT:

I really like it!

Now part of my go-to makeup, my brows looked natural and full, without detectible product, even with multiple coats. The innovative Brow Maker brush gets every little peachy fuzz hairs.

Recommended for those who have brows that could use some OOMPH but not necessarily the best choice if most of your brow needs to be drawn on.
