Rejuven Skin 5-in-1 Ultra Skin Rejuvenator What to Know

June 19, 2016 · 6 Comments

Have you ever discovered a beauty product that is so effective that it corrects problems you didn’t even know you had? That is what happened to me when I started using the Rejuven Skin 5-in-1 Ultra Skin Rejuvenator.
Rejuven Skin 5-in-1 Ultra Skin Rejuvenator

Rejuven Skin 5-in-1 Ultra Skin Rejuvenator

I adore beauty gadgets, but for me to use them for the long term they need to deliver results. The 5-in-1 Rejuven Ultra Skin Rejuvenator delivers astonishing results and does so quickly.

To get the most out of this great device, make sure to read the user manual before use. The product arrives half-charged, and it is important to charge it fully before use. Be sure to be familiar with the various settings and what they do. It’s a quick and easy read, but it makes the process much simpler!

So what have my results been?

I am very impressed with this device for many reasons, but the firming and sculpting I have achieved after just a few uses is what amazes me the most. I use it over my eyebrows, and it lifted my upper eyes dramatically. This is impressive since I didn’t actually use it on my eye, just the skin above it. My lids are slightly hooded, but I looked wide awake and perky without even contouring with eyeshadow.

The change to my jawline is what I consider the most impressive. I have achieved decent sculpting with other devices that I have used over time, but this was the tautest my jawline has ever looked. I didn’t even know I had some of the contours around my chin that appeared after using the 5-in-1 Ultra Skin Rejuvenator a few times – and believe me, I have spent years trying to get my chin more chiseled looking!

The Galvanic ION function is fascinating. Using the ION+ mode to cleanse my skin and the ION- mode to drive topical products deep into my skin (I’ve been using a potent hyaluronic acid), my skin (especially on my cheeks) is smooth, plump, bright, and dewy.

I have done Photofacials for years, and it’s great to be able to do them at home with this device. I had a few hormonal blemishes that reduced by about 50% within a day of using the Blue mode. That is pretty impressive. There is also a red mode and a green mode for other issues. If you have any doubts regarding the ability of light to affect your skin for the better, consider this: the sun damages your skin via certain wavelengths, but other wavelengths, like the ones in this device, heal the skin. Plus it feels amazing: warm and soothing. Be sure to use the included goggles when using the Phototherapy mode – this is a potent modality, and should be treated as such.

I will be doing periodic updates on my progress with the 5-in-1 Ultra Skin Rejuvenator. However, even after using it for less than two weeks, I can heartily recommend it for younger, brighter, tighter, smoother, healthier skin. I’m excited to see if the improvement continues!

Michael Todd Beauty Soniclear Petite Antimicrobial Facial Skin Cleansing Brush System

May 12, 2016 · Leave a Comment

The Michael Todd Soniclear Petite Brush is similar in premise to the Clarisonic rotating brush systems, but with some features that I prefer. When I first got my Clarisonic, it became a go-to beauty tool for me. Unfortunately, I found the Clarisonic was more water resistant than waterproof; it needed frequent rechargings without any advanced notice that the charge was low, and, by my clumsy, soapy, butter fingers fault, I dropped it one too many times, it eventually no longer powered up. So I was excited to see some of the features on the Soniclear that I feel are more geared towards my needs.

First off, a cleansing brush of this sort is a great beauty tool. The Soniclear gently exfoliates facial skin without causing irritation and can even be used on acne, rosacea, and eczema to cleanse gently and exfoliate. After Soniclear use, skin is clean and even leaving an even surface for makeup application and by removing the dry and dead skin, bacteria, dirt and sebum can’t get trapped in the skin, making acne all the worse.

CLEANSING POWER
Soniclear also removes heavy makeup better than other cleansing methods, especially mineral based makeup, and powdered pigments, contour creams and powders, airbrush makeup and foundations including Paramedical foundations, and even theater oil-based pancake makeup.

ANTIMICROBIAL & GENTLE BRUSH HEADS
The Soniclear brush heads are antimicrobial and stay cleaner and bacteria free longer than other brush heads. This is a big selling point for me over using washcloths or sponges or my hands to scrub my face.

It is also a softer feel on the skin when in use, I am surprised to see it has the buffing and smoothing capacity that it does since it feels so gentle when it is on the skin. Despite how soft it feels, it eases out blackheads in tricky spots like the curve of the nasal tip in just a few uses. I have been scrubbing away with a washcloth at those same blackheads, and they didn’t budge until now. The downside is replacement brush heads are about $25 each, which is much more expensive than many of the Soniclear competitor brush systems.

The slightly smaller size fits better into my hand than the Clarisonic I kept dropping, and while it is not flimsy, it is lighter than the Clarisonic. Body brush size heads do not fit on this petite model, although I used the face head on shoulders, neck and chest and liked the results.

CHARGING
I like the charger, instead of a base there is a little round piece that magnetically adheres to the brush handle, and it has a USB port cord to charge. So far it holds a charge longer than my Clarisonic did, as each full charge gives 60 minutes of charge, 35 can be continuous, so one charge will last through a vacation. It comes with a nice sturdy travel case, and if the brush is fully charged in advance, you won’t need to pack the charger.

PRICE POINT
This brush is a well-priced device with several nice features. Some features include the carrying case for travel, the quality anti-bacterial brush head, the very gentle but effective cleansing even for problem skin, and the length of time before recharging is needed, the ease of use and the results, I think this is a great price for what it does. While replacement brush heads are more expensive than the competitors, the special anti-bacteria coating on the heads is a great feature for anyone with skin conditions, sensitive skin or acne to make sure your mode of cleansing does not introduce bacteria to your skin. I don’t consider the brush head cost a flaw, just something to consider in the overall long-term cost of the unit.

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System What to Know

December 16, 2015 · Leave a Comment

The amazing result I had with RejuvadermMD Microdermabrasion System by Trophy Skin surprised me since my skin is not flaky or rough, so I didn’t expect there would be much to exfoliate or buff. But I was wrong.

The RejuvadermMD Microdermabrasion System is an impressive tool. It diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and leaves skin brighter – that pinkish sort of awake, peppy younger, and SO very smooth and glowing. I keep touching my face to feel how soft with each use. I knew immediately it was a good purchase.

Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System

My exfoliating routine was gentle, but lacking, as my skin can get lackluster: soft washcloths, at-home use of glycolic acid pads or Brazilian Peel AHA, gentle fruit acid washes, and on rare occasion, Clinique Seven Day Scrub, especially around the mouth. I moisturize well and of course, use sunscreen.

Here is an overview of the Microdermabrasion Tool and its’ different functions and a review with tips and tricks of each of the included heads and tips.

THE WAND TOOL

It is powerful for an at-home tool that comes with three heads: a diamond tip dermabrasion head, an extractor tip, and an infuser head to help serums penetrate the skin.

HOW TO USE THE WAND:  The wand comes with four speed settings, one lit up dot being the gentlest suction and speed. Press the button continuously until the first green light appears.

The tricky part is keeping constant contact of the suction wand on the skin, or else you skip sections. It is a balance between not pulling on delicate areas of skin too much while still getting benefit from the product, so people with less resilient, more mature skin might want to limit where they use the wand to avoid more delicate areas.

DIAMOND TIP:

The circular diamond tip sands and buffs the skin while suction pulls away the resulting dead skin debris that become fine powdery debris whisked away by the suction. Brown spots look lighter and smoother. Surface gunk clogging pores and dry skin slough off so skin is less clogged. Wrinkles diminish when the dark impurities are sucked off it leaves the area smoother and able to better reflect light, making a wrinkle appear less deep and less noticeable. It also gives a smoother surface to apply makeup.

Used Filter

That was the stuff on my face. Ew.

Want to see the gunk that comes out of a face, the face you think has been scrubbed clean? Yeah, it’s not pretty.

Yep, this is the gunk sitting on your face right now.

Yep, this is the gunk sitting on your face right now.

Like a facial, don’t do dermabrasion right before an event, as tempting as it might be once you feel how soft and glowing skin is after the treatment. But you also can get red and irritated for a bit. I do it at least one to two days before to allow myself time to moisturize and hydrate.  Microdermabrasion + NuFace Trinity leaves skin SO glowing and youthful. There are four settings on the tool. Start at one and work up, it is doing more than you may realize at first. Delicate areas of skin will be red after, but not too irritated and the redness diminishes quickly once you practice technique.Try to avoid using the wand directly on active blemishes (more on that later) but blackheads and whiteheads will be much less noticeable.

I especially like how the microdermabrasion addresses eleven lines and the lines near the mouth. It is also great when directed at neck wrinkles and areas of the chest and de’colletage that get less-than-dewy looking and need a bit of attention, especially when dehydrated.

Used Filter

OK, I assume you have seen enough of this.

You can use it almost anywhere, including shoulders and upper back; two areas I didn’t realize were a little neglected despite using body scrubs on those areas. Moisturize after use.

Filter

Once you get the hang of it, advance to higher and more powerful settings on the tool, especially around the forehead and sides of your neck, shoulders, and chest. I also have been using it on an old shaving scrape that left a light scar on my legs, and on my hands, but it is a challenge to maintain the suction on an uneven surface.

TIP: When using the diamond tip, ALWAYS make sure one of the little black pads the size of the pencil eraser top are in the wand to prevent the tool from getting all that gunk on your face embedded into the tool. The diamond tip buffs skin so that a fine powder of debris comes off and lands on these black pads and looks like the photo seen above right.

EXTRACTOR HEAD
Don’t use the extractor attachment on the same location on the same day as the dermabrasion diamond head. The extractor pulls sebum and blackheads out of your skin. I didn’t expect much since I don’t have many blackheads, just some in the nostril curl. At first glance, the extractor doesn’t seem to have done much, and then I took a peek inside, and well, EWW.

I am a dainty skin-obsessed lady, I (judiciously) use one of those metal black head extractor tools, and I exfoliate and ALWAYS remove my makeup at night. So the fact that this much blackhead and sebum-y gunk was just sitting

These pictures are disgusting. You’ve been warned.

Here is a slideshow of some more pictures and how to use the device, and because there are more gross pictures of things you really don’t want to think are in your skin, I added some classy music to the background.

QUESTION:  CAN THE EXTRACTOR HEAD SUCTION OUT THE CONTENTS OF A PUSTULE PIMPLE?

Friendly advice: I was tempted to see if the extractor head could just pull the contents of an active, noticeable pimple that had formed a head and looked ready to be extracted with a gentle nudge from my handy metal blackhead extractor. The suction extractor tip is powerful, but not the tool for this kind of acne, because the suction held on one spot too long leaves an angry red mark on the surrounding skin leaves too much of an angry red, for lack of a better word, hickey-like mark, at least it did on me. Leave it to the Dermatologists, a trusty blemish extractor tool, apply a hot compress, or zap it with a good topical blemish cream.  This is more a tool for blackheads and whiteheads and pre-emptive skin care that removes the oil and debris trapping dead skin layers, leading to a less pimple-friendly environment in the long run.

THE INFUSER TIP HEAD
I am underwhelmed on the infuser head; it is just not doing it for me, which is a disappointment because I was excited about that feature. This company has made a solid quality product in the RejuvadermMD, so I would be excited to try their Labelle Ultrasonic Skin Spatula for product infusion.

VERDICT

This is a good tool especially for clogged or flaking skin, skin with brown spots and fine wrinkles, blackheads, and skin that could be smoother. Be careful around delicate areas, but it is very useful on skin on the neck and shoulders that should be treated like facial skin but often is subject to body skin exfoliating measures. Even if you don’t feel much need to exfoliate, this tool leaves skin with a fresh, youthful glow.

Where to Buy It

Find the Trophy Skin RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System at Bergdorf Goodman or at Amazon for $199.

Nuface Trinity Device: What You Need to Know

June 6, 2014 · Leave a Comment

nuface TrinityMom, Lyn, and I all jumped on a particularly good deal we saw on the NuFace Trinity device.

We’ll give periodic updates, but here is what we think of it after using it for a few days. This article started out as our thoughts after using it for a few weeks, but it got a little long so we’ll post an update soon.

First off – I planned on taking before and after pics to post, but where we are really seeing difference is not so much still faced, but rather in movement at first, which is amazing.

Why Use NuFace Trinity

The three of us have hyper-expressive faces (aka no poker face whatsoever), which means that a lot of the time any laxity of the skin becomes evident upon movement. Now, none of us have droopy dog faces, but a little extra firmness to the face is always nice.

I have heard many good things about both the original Nuface Classic and the Nuface Trinity over the years, but recently became interested.

About Microcurrent for facial firming

Most home skin firming devices seem like smoke and mirrors to me, but Nuface uses Microcurrent.

A microcurrent research study reports good results for firming facial muscles, so we decided to give it a shot.

NuFace Trinity Device: Our First Impressions

So far, we are all very impressed. There are instant results that build over time, and it is gratifying to see results pronto! It keeps you using it even when you are tired at night. I’m really excited and love the way my jawline looks – not completely snatched but looking good!

Lyn is thrilled with how much it improves general skin tone and underlying tightness.

Mom is thrilled with everything about the NuFace and is stopping at every reflective surface to happily examine the results.

This seems a good device to add to your overall skin maintenance program.

BEST USE NOTE: the device is powerful enough that it can cause unwanted results if used incorrectly. Not ALL muscles in the entire face should be toned, some should be lax. DO read all instructions.

Where to Find NuFace Trinity Device

We’ll be updating you every couple of weeks or so on our thoughts.

In the meantime, find NuFace Trinity at Amazon.
