Sunflower Oil has many hair and skin benefits

Sunflower oil can be used alone or combined with other oils. It is well tolerated by sensitive skin.

Why Use Sunflower Oil

Sunflower Seed Oil is hydrating, nourishing and an excellent supporting oil base. Sunflower Oil especially benefits coarse hair textures. It locks in moisture and deters hair breakage.

Sunflower Oil has many hair and skin benefits.

How to Use Sunflower Oil on Skin

Sunflower Oil is an effective face and body moisturizer. But it is a semi-greasy oil which makes the application and dry-down difficult. When mixed into a lotion or cream, sunflower oil can be exceptionally useful on body skin.

Sunflower Oil is non-comedogenic and can moisturize acne-prone areas. It soothes eczema, scarring, redness, and irritation.

  • Sunflower Oil retains moisture in the skin and is also rich in vitamin E.
  • Functions as a lipid buffer against drying ingredients or topical medicines [1]
  • Sunflower Oil softens skin irritated by drying topicals. It works well with Retinol because it hydrates and calms red, irritated skin.
  • Linoleic acid Gives sunflower seed oil anti-inflammatory properties.
  • It is a natural treatment for atopic dermatitis. [2]
  • The Vitamin E in Sunflower oil lightens skin discoloration.
  • It is gentle enough to use as an eye makeup remover. Apply oil directly to face and allow 30 seconds to dissolve makeup, massage gently if desired. Wash face as normal. To remove eye makeup, hold a sunflower seed soaked cotton ball over your closed lid for about 20 seconds. It dissolves mascara without rubbing or pulling on lashes.

Sunflower Oil Hair Benefits

Sunflower Oil is an excellent unscented oil for hair hydration and softening. It works as a base for scalp treatment essential oils such as Tea Tree, Rosemary, and Peppermint. It softens hair when combined with rosemary and lavender oils.

  • Vitamin E promotes scalp health.
  • It blends well with other oils. A blend of Sunflower Oil and Coconut Oil moisturizes and strengthens hair, and is not as greasy.
  • Ideal for coarse hair because it helps hair retain moisture. It is a light non-polar solvent that prevents water loss. It penetrates the hair shaft to lock and retain moisture.
  • It is less greasy than olive oil and won’t cause breakouts.
  • It contains Omega 9, an essential acid needed to stop breakage and stimulate hair growth.

Sunflower Oil benefits all hair types, especially hair needing extra moisture. This includes coarse hair, curly hair, and damaged hair.

General Beauty Benefits of Sunflower Oil

Use Sunflower oil for coarse and brittle hair to stop breakage and dryness

Sunflower oil on coarse hair prevents breakage

How to Use Tea Tree Oil for Skin and Hair

May 27, 2019 · 8 Comments

Tea Tree Oil is well known for its antiseptic, antibacterial, antivirus properties, as well as having a scent that repels mosquitos, Tea Tree Oil also has several beauty and health applications that make it a powerful multi-tasker in your beauty arsenal.

Here are ways to use Tea Tree Oil for scalp health, hair loss, acne, moisturizing skin and to prevent razor burn.

Why Tea Tree Oil belongs in your beauty arsenal

Why Tea Tree Oil belongs in your beauty arsenal

TEA TREE OIL & HAIR

Tea Tree Oil induces hair growth by unclogging hair follicles and nourishing roots. It also helps prevent hair loss and hair fall.

To use Tea Tree Oil for hair growth, first choose a carrier oil. Jojoba, safflower, grapeseed, and almond are a good choices for hair and scalp care. Add a few drops of tea tree oil, and massage it into the scalp. It should tingle, but not burn. Straight Tea Tree Oil is too potent for direct contact with the scalp.

When first using Tea Tree Oil, hair may seem a bit dry, this is normal until the scalp finds a balance. If hair seems dry, use less Tea Tree and focus the massage treatments directly on the scalp.

TEA TREE OIL AND SKIN CARE

Tea Tree Oil for acne is gentler than other remedies. It does not irritate the skin, it stops breakouts. It does not preclude using anti-aging treatments on same areas.

There are two ways to use Tea Tree Oil for acne.

The first way is to mix a ratio of 90% water to 10% Tea Tree Oil and dab it on the spot with a Q-tip or cotton ball, twice a day.

The second way is to combine one teaspoon of Aloe Vera Gel with two drops of Tea Tree Oil and apply the mixture to acne with a q-tip. Let it dry fully, wait a few minutes, and wash with warm water followed by moisturizer.

Tea Tree Oil can gently treat acne breakouts but is gentler on the skin than benzoyl peroxide. It also heals while it treats so there is less dry, flaky, red skin after acne treatment.

Treat dry skin with Almond Oil and Tea Tree Oil and gently massage it into skin ten minutes before bathing.

Tea tree oil added to water can lather and used for shaving. It moisturizes the skin and can soothe the skin after waxing or threading. Tea Tree Oil prevents razor irritation or a razor burn rash. Add Tea Tree Oil to your regular shave cream, oil or soap to pre-empt the razor burn.

How to Best Use Hyaluronic Acid: What to Know

February 24, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Like an Instagram Filter for real life, Hyaluronic Acid plumps wrinkles & pores with intense hydration, making skin appear instantly youthful & dewy.

Why We Love Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is by far one of our favorite skincare ingredients; we always look for it in serums and moisturizers because it makes skin look fantastic as it plumps out wrinkles and crinkles and makes skin glow.

But Hyaluronic Acid won “beauty secret weapon” status in our StyleChicks Favorite Skincare Ingredients Series because it helps any anti-aging active ingredient work more efficiently. Learn about the short term and long term benefits of Hyaluronic Acid.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?

Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the skin, but it depletes as we age, and the body does not make more.

Topical Hyaluronic Acid application in the form of a cream, gel or serum replaces levels in the skin, giving a youthful glow.

WHAT HYALURONIC ACID DOES

Hyaluronic Acid gets “beauty secret weapon” status due to its’ ability to hold enormous amounts of moisture; it can draw moisture from the air, sucking it into the skin.

This moisture drawing ability has a dual benefit:

  1. It makes skin as plump and dewy as possible, creating an environment where the skin contains as much hydration as it can hold.
  2. It uses this water drawing ability to pull active ingredients deeper into the skin.

BENEFITS OF HOLDING MOISTURE

  • Wrinkles, fine lines, and pores temporarily “plump out” from all the moisture until they are barely visible, yet it does not make the skin seem puffy or bloated.
  • Hyaluronic Acid works wonders on crows feet, eleven lines, wrinkles on and around the mouth, forehead lines, and smile lines.
  • Hyaluronic Acid causes an optical blur effect, smoothing tiny imperfections in skin including on the throat, chest, and decolletage

What Active Ingredients to Pair HA With

Hyaluronic Acid SERVES AS AN ACTIVE INGREDIENT BOOSTER.

Many active ingredients that are amazing for the skin all do their best work in the deeper layers of the skin, but their molecules are typically too large to absorb deeply. Some examples are:

  • MSM
  • Vitamin C
  • Retinol
  • Peptides
  • B3 (Niacinamide)
  • Sea Buckthorn Oil

The solution? Hyaluronic Acid is like a friend with VIP access; it uses its’ moisture pulling ability to draw these active ingredients into deeper skin layers. The deeper active ingredients can work, the better the collagen production.

This means deep discoloration, sun damage, and acne scars are all fade for a much clearer look to the skin. And when collagen production happens at a deeper level, it better supports for skin, resulting in less sagging.

How to Best Use HYALURONIC ACID

It is imperative to use a moisturizer over your Hyaluronic Acid, as it draws as much moisture as possible into the skin.

If Hyaluronic Acid can’t get enough moisture, the surface of the skin can appear DRY, because the Hyaluronic is still “thirsty.”

I like to apply Hyaluronic Acid over damp skin; sometimes I mix a Hyaluronic cream or serum with some water before applying it to my face and eye area.

  • Less is more. Apply more only if needed, focusing on wrinkles, pores on the cheeks, and the wrinkles on the forehead and throat.
  • Apply Hyaluronic Acid over a Vitamin C serum or Peptide Serum to maximize your results
  • Do you use an at-home device such Handheld Light Therapy or the NuFace? Optimize the results by applying a layer of Hyaluronic Acid after washing off the conductive cream.
  • If you live in an area with higher environmental pollution, consider only using Hyaluronic Acid at night so that it does not pull the pollutants into your skin from the air.

Hyaluronic Acid serums we like

  • Aurora Cure Ultimate 100% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum: Professional Strength: a clear serum, not sticky, very potent, as it is 100% Hyaluronic, no fillers. I like to apply this during the daytime after I wash my face and it is still moist, I lightly apply the Hyaluronic, then pat on two light coats of moisturizer (Clinique Dramatically Different for example) and spritz my face with water in between layers to lock in hydration. Also very useful paired with a Vitamin C serum, but make sure to add a moisturizer on top!
  • SERUM CEUTICALS ALBUMIN & HYALURONIC ACID SERUM This is not a straight Hyaluronic, but the Albumin and Hyaluronic pairing together work wonders at reviving tired, older looking skin, and this has no chemicals or preservatives. Cool feature: this can be used ON EYELIDS (!!) without causing irritation.
  • It is amazing when applied to the throat, the face, jowls, on the shoulders, hands, and decolletage, use sparingly around the eyes. When it is applied, enlarged pores disappear, forehead wrinkles appear practically non-existent.
