Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist

October 12, 2020 · 3 Comments

Uneven skin tone sneaks up on you. Discoloration from acne scars and photodamage are almost impossible to conceal. Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist does skin-quenching sprays one better by improving skin tone at the same time. It is packed with antioxidants and leaves skin supple. Plus the Hesperidin protects collagen and fights photo-damage. And it practically sprays the dark age spots off your face.

For the skin obsessed, discoloration is a particularly irritating problem. To fade them often requires some skin irritating actives that leave skin parched. Fortunately, Mad Hippie has a gentle, natural solution.

Why It Is Special

Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist is a delightful mist soothes what ails your skin while improving discoloration. It contains skin goodies like Pomegranate, Gingko Bilboa, Vitamin C, and Hesperidin.

Hesperidin is a skincare workhorse. We don’t know why more products don’t contain this non-irritating, skin-loving, discoloration fixing, a skin-quenching enhancer that really gets stuff done. But we sure are glad Mad Hippie packs it into this mist.

And check out some of the other skin-quenching ingredients:

The Ingredients

Sweet Orange is rich in collagen-protecting Hesperidin

Sweet Orange is rich in collagen-protecting Hesperidin

Sweet Orange is high in Hesperidin

Sweet Orange is high in Hesperidin

Hesperidin

Hesperidin is a plant flavonoid from citrus fruits like sweet orange and lemon. [1] It has been shown to help reduce the appearance of skin discoloration and it inhibits future overproduction of melanin. [2] It is collagen and fibroblast protective and reduces the appearance of sun damage [3]. This antioxidant anti-inflammatory soothes the skin. [4]

Sodium PCA

A natural humectant, Sodium PCA binds moisture to the skin dramatically improving skin hydration.

Milk Thistle

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle is about 80% silymarin.

Silymarin is an antioxidant and free radical scavenger.  It protects skin and fights signs of aging due to sun damage. It is used by dermatologists for all kinds of inflammatory skin conditions including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. [5]

Milk thistle also contains fatty acids, including linoleic acid.

Gingko Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba

A natural ingredient from the maidenhair tree.

Ginkgo Biloba increases blood flow to the skin. Better blood flow means more nutrients are available for skin rejuvenation and collagen production.

Ginkgo Biloba contains high amounts of antioxidants to reduce skin redness and discoloration.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is applied topically for targeted skin-rejuvenation.  It is an anti-aging, acne reducing, dark pigmentation fading powerhouse. Vitamin C is a building block for collagen, the support structure of the skin. Vitamin C also fades acne scars and improves sun-damaged skin texture.

Vitamin C reduces wrinkles & discoloration. It pairs marvelously with Hesperidin.

Resveratrol rich blueberries

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a polyphenol that functions as an antioxidant. It is found in plant-based foods including blueberries, grapes, mulberries, raspberries and peanuts, and red wine.  It is a skincare staple because it reverses aged (senescent) cells to a physically younger, active state. [6]

White Pine Bark

White Pine Bark improves skin hydration and elasticity while decreasing skin fatigue while reducing the appearance of skin discoloration.

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Flowering Camellia Sinensis or Green Tea

Green Tea

Green Tea feeds and moisturizes the skin, calms irritation and is an excellent antioxidant. Topical Green Tea application reduce sun damage, decrease collagen breakdown and increase cell regeneration. Green tea contains polyphenols that may improve sun-damaged skin. [7]

High in Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), green tea is a major player in skin health and appearance. It protects against environmental damage and neutralizes free radicals that prematurely age skin. Research shows EGCG reactivates dying skin cells.  This shows promise for repairing sun damage and scar healing. [8]

Sodium Hyaluronate

Sodium HA is a non-synthesized form of Hyaluronic Acid. It has Hyaluronic Acid benefits, is a humectant and offers stronger moisture retention properties than regular HA. It is found naturally and ample supply in young skin, but depletes with age. It moisturizes the skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Sodium Hyaluronate Acid has a lower molecular size compared to other Hyaluronic Acids. This is beneficial because it can absorb deeper into the skin.

Pomegranate Seed Extract

How Pomegranate Benefits Skin on StyleChicks

Pomegranate

Pomegranate Seed Extract is a safe, natural pomegranate based skincare ingredient. Those juicy, jewel-like seeds are arils. Arils are packed with antioxidants, minerals, vitamins A, C, K, and E plus folic and ellagic acids.

Pomegranates contain three times the antioxidants of wine or green tea. [9] Pomegranate Seed Extract increases skin barrier formation and improves skin hydration. Meanwhile, it delivers impressive collagen-building results.

Ingredients

This formulation contains ingredients often found in high-end boutique line skin care creams. Let’s take a look.

 Ingredient Profile

Reishi is a kidney shaped mushroom that regenerates skin cells

Reishi mushroom has polysaccharides to boost moisture retention.

Full Spectrum Hemp-Derived CBD Oil

CBD Oil comes from Cannabis Sativa

CBD Oil comes from Cannabis Sativa

Full Spectrum Hemp-Derived CBD Oil comes from the Cannabis sativa plant. Full-spectrum CBD does not give a “high” or altered sensation.

The CBD oil is 500mg of CO2 extracted, organic USA-grown, and third-party tested.

It contains skin-loving cannabidiol, cannabigerol (CBG) and antioxidant compounds.[2]

Cannabidiol Oil is high in Omega-3, 6 and 9 fatty acids.

It is also high in Vitamins A, E, and D. [3]

Reishi mushroom

Reishi mushroom

Lactobacillus/Ganoderma Lucidum

Gandoderma Lucidum is Reishi Mushroom Extract.  It is also called Asian Mushroom Extract or lingzhi.  It is most often seen in higher-end anti-aging skin creams.

Reishi is known as “mushroom of immortality” because it promotes cell regeneration.

Reishi has been used in traditional medicinal practice for health and beauty applications. It also reduces skin inflammation and puffiness.

Reishi is packed with polysaccharides to boost moisture retention. They boost the skin’s natural ability to hydrate and retain water. It also contributes to Reishi’s ability to reduce wrinkles.

It increases blood flow to increase nutrient delivery within the skin.

As with most topically applied mushrooms, Reishi is an excellent hydrator.

Lentinus Edodes

Lentinus Edodes is Shiitake Mushroom.

Shiitake mushrooms

Shiitake mushrooms

This formulation uses highly concentrated Shiitake Extract Ferment Filtrate.

Shiitake is the anti-aging mushroom.  It improves skin elasticity and protects against environmental damage. Shiitake is a biodynamic ingredient. It slows aging by reinforcing the skin’s biological protection mechanisms. [4]  It is ideal for protecting sensitive and delicate skin. It also helps restore sun-damaged skin. [5]

Shiitake contains kojic acid. Kojic acid lightens discoloration.

Shiitake contains copper, which stimulates collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production.

Shiitake also contains selenium to decrease irritation and calm inflammation.

Royal Jelly

Royal Jelly is a gelatinous bee product made to feed the queen bee. It is an anti-inflammatory anti-oxidant filled with skin-friendly nutrients. It smooths fine lines and wrinkles. It aids wound healing [6] and skin repair. [7]

Royal Jelly combats sun damage and can promote procollagen type I production. [8]

Royal Jelly

Avena Sativa

Avena Sativa is better known as Oat kernel flour or Collodial Oats. It is soothing to chronic skin conditions such as eczema.

Jojoba Seeds

Jojoba Seeds

Simmondsia Chinensis

Simmondsia Chinensis is Jojoba Seed Oil. Jojoba oil is an emollient, made of 98% monounsaturated fats.

Jojoba is an exceptionally gentle oil that is excellent for both face and body skin. Jojoba regulates oily skin, removes impurities and dry skin flakes.

Jojoba is soothing to dry, irritated skin and removes acne inflammation.  Jojoba hydrates and softens wrinkles.

Jojoba is also a carrier oil, increasing the efficacy of other active ingredients. Jojoba enhances the ingredients it is paired with instead of creating an oily barrier.

Mangifera Indica

Mangifera Indica is Mango Seed Butter.

Mango

Mango

Mango is naturally high in copper. Copper builds Collagen, Elastin and increases Hyaluronic Acid production for smoother, more resilient skin.

It’s rich in oleic acid (an omega-9 acid); and the saturated fatty acid stearic acid. These moisturize, tighten, plump and firm the skin. It provides long-lasting moisture.

Mango is also rich in A & C to refine the skin.

Olives benefits the skin

Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate both use the fatty acids of olives

Cetearyl Olivate

Cetearyl Olivate is the fatty acid of Olives combined with a Cetearyl alcohol ester.

Cetearyl attracts and binds moisture.  Cetearyl alcohol is one of the “good” alcohols that soften, soothe and heal dry skin. It is an emollient.

Olive fatty acids contain Linoleic acid which has a skin-enhancing, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory effect.

A very safe ingredient that emulsifies active ingredients together within a moisturizer.

It is a natural and safe alternative to PEG. It is made of a “good” alcohol & olive fatty acids.

Sorbitan Olivate

The fatty acid of Olives combined with sugar. Frequently used in combination with Cetearyl Olivate.

The olive fatty acids give deep hydration, smooth skin, and give the product a silky texture.

Grapefruit Peel

Grapefruit Peel Oil

Citrus Grandis

Citrus Grandis is Grapefruit Peel Oil.

Higher in Vitamin C than the fruit itself, Grapefruit Peel oil restores skin, fades discoloration, reduces blemishes and improves skin texture.

Grapefruit Peel Oil also adds an uplifting, refreshing scent to the cream that is an all-natural fragrance.

Tocopherol

Tocopherol is a form of Vitamin E, a soothing anti-inflammatory. It instantly improves the appearance of skin while improving skin texture over time.

Tocopherol softens skin texture and reduces scars. Vitamin E makes old acne scars softer and more pliable.

Tocopherol makes rough, sunburned, scarred, or otherwise damaged skin soft and pliable. Once the skin is pliable, other treating ingredients are more effective.

the Experience

Face
Apply daily on face, focusing on areas of aging and dryness. Combined with nightly Le Vesque Luxe CBD Face Cream use, my typically dry sensitive skin is exceptionally soft and supple.

Le Vesque CBD Luxe Face Cream

Pair the Le Vesque CBD Luxe Face Cream by night with the Luxe Skin cream by day for to maximize the power of restorative power of CBD

Application

One pump covers face and throat. While it absorbs immediately either way, I like to warm it just slightly between two fingers like Creme de la Mer to spread one pump of product over face *and* throat.

Luxe, rich texture with smooth dry down

Luxe, rich texture with a smooth dry down

Feel & Drydown

Since it sinks right in, it isn’t really wet. Drydown just feels like soft skin, not waxy or sticky. My sunscreen and makeup do not pill or run on top of it. It is not oily or tacky so makeup doesn’t run either. I can apply sunscreen and makeup immediately.

Scent

The scent is natural and leafy with a grapefruit top note. The CBD does not have any lingering Hemp aroma. It dries down to a light grapefruit.

I am delighted to find a daytime CBD face cream that has no tell-tale hempy odor. It is completely suitable for daytime use even at the office.

Uses

I also like it as a post-treatment moisturizer.  It immediately restored my skin after over-zealous Retin-A use and is fabulous after exfoliating or doing an at-home Glycolic peel. As a post-peel cream, it restores balance to the skin.

While it absorbs well on its’ own, I love pairing it with a gemstone roller to benefit from every last bit. And it feels wonderful and relaxing.

Body

I have chronic dryness and redness on my hands, especially cuticles and knuckles. My cuticles are often red and peeling normally, and increased handwashing and hand sanitizer use has made it even worse. My cuticles are red, cracked, and raw.

This is a soothing treatment not only for hands but is excellent on dry, chapped elbows.

When my skin looks dull, this helps soothe tired skin and accelerate its natural healing process.

Pair with the body lotion for use on dry or problematic body skin

Texture and Dry down

Just a pump of this thick cream absorbs rapidly into the skin. There is no oily or sticky residue on dry down. A small amount goes a surprisingly long way.

results

My chapped hands and cuticles look and feel better with every use! The effect lasts all day through multiple hand washings.

It is also a highly effective yet non-drying treatment for acne. It’s wonderful to find both an acne and anti-aging treatment that moisturizes skin while simultaneously helping (not irritating) skin conditions like eczema.

Packaging

The opaque pump bottle is airtight to protect precious natural ingredients.  Each pump dispenses 1 ml of cream containing 10mg of CBD.

Le Vesque CBD Luxe Skin Cream

✽
Reputable & Quality CBD

This product uses 500 mg of CBD and can accomplish a great deal.

Have you previously used a CBD skincare product and found it lackluster? Even some boutique brands use subpar versions of CBD (looking at you CBD isolate).  If so, you may not have experienced what quality CBD can accomplish.

Le Vesque takes several steps to ensure quality.

How to Identify a Reputable CBD Cream

A study in The Journal of the American Medical Association reported that more than sixty percent of online CBD products are mislabeled. [9]

YIKES.

How do you locate a quality CBD skin product?

Actual CBD has high cannabidiol, whereas Hemp Seed Oil has only trace levels.  Choose products that have Certified labs measure the cannabidiol levels to ensure the CBD is actually what it claims.

Independent Lab Testing

A third party independent lab verifies that the product actually contains what the ingredient label claims.  Third party testing indications include a Certification seal, lab report, product specification, or assay.

A CBD manufacturer should make this report available. On the report, look for the CBD levels. You want to see higher levels of CBD and very low levels of THC.

Le Vesque makes the independent lab report test results available right on each product page.  Review the Luxe Skin Cream lab report here.

The lab report is the best indicator of CBD quality and cannabidiol levels.

Pre-Measured Dose per Use

Reputable products with generous levels of CBD tend to ensure that the optimal amount of CBD dispenses per pump or application.

There are no formal dose per pump mandates. But if a brand has pre-measured CBD per use, it generally indicates the company wishes to ensure the best CBD experience.

Le Vesque CBD Luxe Skin Cream dispenses a pre-measured CBD dose by a precise pump design.

Each 50 ml bottle contains 500mg of CBD. Each pump dispenses 1 ml of cream containing 10 mg of CBD.

Le Vesque CBD Luxe Skin Cream has 10mg of CBD per pump

Extraction Method

High quality CBD oil is obtained by CO2 extraction to ensure quality and consistency. This method is also the cleanest, using no harmful chemicals in processing. It is safer and it retains all of CBD’s healing properties.

Le Vesque uses only CO2 extraction.

Hemp Sourcing

Hemp grown in the USA for health and beauty use must meet certain FDA and Farm Bill standards and regulations.

Le Vesque only uses CBD oil from organic hemp grown on a northern New England family farm.

Le Vesque meets all the criterion for a high-quality, reputable CBD.  It is also cruelty-free, inclusive of all skin types, and it is quite luxurious.

Le Vesque CBD Infused Luxe Skin Cream treats skin conditions other restorative creams cannot. regular use revolutionizes problematic skin.

The Skin Cream works synergistically with all the products in the Le Vesque invigorate range

THE EmerginC Hydra-Repair Intensive Topical Infusion Capsules EXPERIENCE

Twist off the top of the capsule “head” and squeeze the contents into a dose of moisturizer or apply the contents directly to the face and throat.

CONSISTENCY & APPLICATION

Since it contains rich oils, I thought the application might be messy.

The capsule contents are thicker than oil, something of a liquidy honey consistency. So I expected it to be too stiff to spread easily on the skin.

But it smoothly and immediately sank into my skin. And the finish was not at all oily or sticky even when applied directly.

Massaging it into the face and throat feels relaxing and spa-like. It helps everything:

  • chronically dry lips
  • eleven lines
  • undereye dryness.

EmerginC Hydra-Repair Intensive Topical Infusion capsule form makes this rich treatment portable for beauty emergencies.

Avocado

What are the skincare benefits of Avocado Oil?

  • It hydrates like natural skin sebum and improves skin elasticity.
  • It contains Chlorophyll, an antioxidant that protects from premature aging.
  • Rich in fatty acids Omega 3 and 6, it strengthens the skin lipid barrier.
  • Vitamins C, D, and E, Avocado Oil promotes wound healing and collagen production [1] without clogging pores.
  • Avocado oil also contains oleic acid, a fatty acid that reduces inflammation and redness while fighting wrinkles.
  • Unlike other fatty oils that stay on the skin surface, Avocado absorbs into the skin for better hydration potential.

Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

Tocopheryl Acetate is Vitamin E.

E makes damaged skin soft and pliable again while reducing wrinkle formation.

Ceramide-3

Ceramides are fatty acids that hold cells together to protect the epidermis.

What are the skincare benefits of Ceramides?

Ceramides create a wonderful protective barrier layer. They hold in moisture and plump the skin.
Natural ceramides deplete with age. Even younger skin loses ceramides when using harsh cleansers or drying skincare products.

Ceramide 3 keeps skin hydrated without being greasy.

Ceramide 3 is often used as a moisturizing ingredient. This enhances the smooth product finish while repairing the skin barrier.

Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate)

An antioxidant found naturally in our skin. It is a less potent form of retinoid that the skin converts.

Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate) is a natural form of Vitamin A that helps with wrinkles and fine lines.

It also boosts collagen production to make skin look younger and plumper. It promotes cell regeneration.

It extendedly smoothes and hydrates.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is one of the cleanest ingredients with no reported toxicity, it is safe enough to be food grade.

Capric Triglyceride naturally occurs in palm kernel or coconut oil.

It is a mixed ester composed of caprylic and capric fatty acids attached to glycerin. Caprylic/capric triglyceride is a natural skin replenishing emollient that creates a barrier on the skin’s surface, which helps to reduce skin dryness by decreasing the loss of moisture.
