Nuface Trinity Device: What You Need to Know

June 6, 2014 · Leave a Comment

nuface TrinityMom, Lyn, and I all jumped on a particularly good deal we saw on the NuFace Trinity device.

We’ll give periodic updates, but here is what we think of it after using it for a few days. This article started out as our thoughts after using it for a few weeks, but it got a little long so we’ll post an update soon.

First off – I planned on taking before and after pics to post, but where we are really seeing difference is not so much still faced, but rather in movement at first, which is amazing.

Why Use NuFace Trinity

The three of us have hyper-expressive faces (aka no poker face whatsoever), which means that a lot of the time any laxity of the skin becomes evident upon movement. Now, none of us have droopy dog faces, but a little extra firmness to the face is always nice.

I have heard many good things about both the original Nuface Classic and the Nuface Trinity over the years, but recently became interested.

About Microcurrent for facial firming

Most home skin firming devices seem like smoke and mirrors to me, but Nuface uses Microcurrent.

A microcurrent research study reports good results for firming facial muscles, so we decided to give it a shot.

NuFace Trinity Device: Our First Impressions

So far, we are all very impressed. There are instant results that build over time, and it is gratifying to see results pronto! It keeps you using it even when you are tired at night. I’m really excited and love the way my jawline looks – not completely snatched but looking good!

Lyn is thrilled with how much it improves general skin tone and underlying tightness.

Mom is thrilled with everything about the NuFace and is stopping at every reflective surface to happily examine the results.

This seems a good device to add to your overall skin maintenance program.

BEST USE NOTE: the device is powerful enough that it can cause unwanted results if used incorrectly. Not ALL muscles in the entire face should be toned, some should be lax. DO read all instructions.

Where to Find NuFace Trinity Device

We’ll be updating you every couple of weeks or so on our thoughts.

In the meantime, find NuFace Trinity at Amazon.

Why We Love Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Daily Cream SPF 30 What to Know

June 9, 2011 · Leave a Comment

Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Daily Cream SPF 30

Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Daily Cream SPF 30

Awhile back, Lyn and I ran into an acquaintance who said “Wow, you guys never change.” We assumed she was just being polite, but then she started pressing as to why we haven’t wrinkled up like prunes (It’s not like we’re 90 or something…).

We muttered something and changed the subject. We saw her again yesterday, and it came up in conversation that she has never worn sunscreen. See where I’m going with this?

We love Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Day Lotion SPF 30, but when the air conditioner gets cranked up, you may need a slightly more emollient texture to your sunscreen.

So we were curious to try Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Day Cream SPF 30. And I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s kinda hot outside, and the AC is cranked up (blissfully) in most offices. So it’s been a good time to compare the Lotion vs. the Cream.

About Wrinkle Repair Day Cream SPF 30

Wrinkle Repair Day Cream SPF 30 is essentially the same great product as the Lotion – it has the same amount of wonderful Kinetin, and contains Symrepair 2%, which increases the skin’s ability to maintain moisture, and QuenchT 2%, which also soothes the skin.

Comparing the Lotion Verses the Cream

The difference is that the Cream is a more moisturizing product, but it still isn’t at all greasy. In fact, when I smoothed it on my skin, it seemed to absorb a little better than the lotion. My skin doesn’t feel dry and tight by the end of the day, no matter how dry a room I’m in.

There is one local library that I tend to avoid when I can because the AC makes the air so dry that my skin ends up raw after I’m there, but when I’m wearing Wrinkle Repair Day Cream, my skin stays moist and dewy and my makeup stays fresh.

I’ve been searching every summer for years to try to find the right combination of moisturizing but not greasy in a sunscreen, and now I have.

We wear sunscreen all year, everytime we leave the house, but obviously some people only think about sunscreen in the summertime. If you fall into the latter category, take this summer as an opportunity to start wearing sunscreen everyday, and continue in the Fall. Soon it will become a routine, and your skin will thank you for it.

I highly recommend Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Day Cream SPF 30 and Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Day Lotion SPF 30 as both a highly effective anti-aging cream as well as an effective sunscreen.

I’ve been using the Cream in tandem with Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Skin Tone Perfecting Serum XK and have noticed a significant decrease in sun spots – the Skin Tone Perfecting Serum goes to work on existing sun spots, the SPF prevents new ones, and the Kinetin in both works to optimize your skin beautifully.

In the future I will likely purchase both the Lotion as well as the Cream and switch off between the two depending on the amount of moisture my skin needs as well as what weather conditions my skin will be facing. All in all, another great product from a fantastic line.

Where to Buy It

Find Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Wrinkle Repair Daily Lotion SPF 30 at Walgreens for $27.49.

Martians always apply moonscreen. Are you diligent with sunscreen?

Why We Love Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Cream Mask

February 7, 2011 · Leave a Comment

Note: This week is Caudalie Week here at Style Chicks – we’ll be giving our initial impressions of a few products and then we’ll update you in the upcoming weeks with further results as we use this fabulous skincare line. Today, Lyn lets us know why she loves Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Cream-Mask Face and Eyes!

Treating Dry Winter Skin

The winter weather has been frightful and my skin has been less than delightful.

I have managed to have multiple skin issues at once this week: some breakouts, dry and peeling skin on my nose/nostril area and I am red all around my mouth and really raw, and my skin feels very tight and dry around my eyes and it is making me look much older. The skin around my eyes is just dry and tight no matter what I do, and too flaky to apply any concealer or foundation on my dark under eye circle skin. Even my silk pillowcase feels scratchy (FYI: silk pillowcases are a great investment as they are gentle to facial skin and reduce hair damage and breakage when hair rubs against the pillowcase).

My standard go to creams and lotions are just making my skin feel raw, as in serious debating about applying Vaseline directly to my face kind of raw. I am not sure what this winter storm is doing that I have both pimples and such tight, raw skin at the same time, but when I look at my skin in the mirror and the phrase is important is to be pretty on the INSIDE comes to mind, with all due respect to inner beauty, what that means to me is it is time to get aggressive on the hydrating.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Cream-Mask Face and Eyes

So I look at my creams, lotions and potions, and my new Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Cream-Mask Face and Eyes catches my eye because it is a moisturizing cream mask for both face and eyes. It is used as an intensive skin mask twice a week, but in the case of extremely dehydrated skin, it can be used as a daily moisturizer by applying a thin layer to the face. Sounds like a good excuse to try it out.

I rarely like a cream for both my face and delicate under eye area, but this is for around the eyes and on the face. It is not too thick for the face but still does the trick for the eyes.

APPLICATION:

When the skin around my mouth gets this raw, even the uber-gentle Clinique DDML stings a bit upon application, but this didn’t sting at all. This was really soothing and almost melted the dry skin. I put on a second application on spot areas like around my mouth, forehead crinkle, the dry flaky skin on my nose, the crow feet area of my eyes, under eye and lips. There is a light pleasant scent upon application but I can’t detect any scent while wearing it.

My skin had a luminous glow without being greasy, it could be worn nicely under makeup and would make a great go-to product after a sunburn or a cold or flu when skin around nose is flaky and raw, this would be a great quick-trick to look healthy again.

I am impressed by the feel on my skin. Usually a cream product that is this emollient feels heavy or looks greasy after application, but this dries down undetectable as a product not sticky or wet or shiny it just leaves behind better skin. You can definitely leave the house with the cream on under makeup which is especially nice when the weather is still so cold and raw outside.

My skin immediately looked better and feels hydrated. Some products feel like a soft wax just on top of your skin, but this feels like my skin. My face felt good quickly and within about ten minutes felt very spa like without feeling heavy or sticky at all, I can see how this would be nice as a at home spa night mask face did not feel dry, cracked or itchy. Usually when my skin gets this raw, I have to slather on so much Creme de la Mer Concentrate that my face is too greasy of a base to wear any makeup, so I am glad to find a deep hydrating product to wear with makeup so my skin can get through the rest of this winter.

I will try Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Cream-Mask Face and Eyes as a traditional mask at home spa night once a week or two and report the results.

How to Best Use Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel Pads

January 24, 2011 · Leave a Comment

REVIEW: Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Pads

I have a few peel product favorites that I *THOUGHT* were doing the trick for me, but I’ve had such good results with the Peter Thomas Roth Power K Eye Rescue and a few other key PTR products that I was excited to give the UnWrinkle Peel Pads a try, even though I thought I had the glycolic acid peel beauty base covered.

What It Is

What Beauty.com says about Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Pads:

Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads are a gentle yet effective daily peel with a PTR 20% proprietary complex of alpha, beta & gamma exfoliators (including glycolic, salicylic, lactic, linolenic acids) and amino acids, which are the building blocks of peptides.

Helps to minimize pores, clarify the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Leaves skin soft, smooth, firm and revitalized.

My Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Pads Experience

Some Immediate perks:

It did not sting, even on delicate skin areas.

My skin IMMEDIATELY looked better and my skin GLOWED upon use.

My between the eyebrow crinkle wrinkles vanished.

I don’t have real forehead wrinkles but I do have a forehead line/crinkle between my eyebrows from squinting that shows mostly when my skin is very dry. It immediately looked better after application, and about 1/2 hour later forehead crinkle was really gone  no trace of it even up close.

I have more crinkle lines than real wrinkles, so I didn’t expect much of a wrinkle based result, but I was surprised how much younger my skin looked without the fine expression lines around my eyebrows and lips.

When I tried the PTR pads, I had not used moisturizer yet that day. My skin had some dry flakey spots from mild sunburn. Normally when my face gets sunburn, I flake for at least a few days, and most products seem to make it worse or at least sting. But after the pads I was absolutely smooth after one use, no stinging involved.

After a week’s use:

It removed dry skin without irritation and left my skin visibly more even and clear.
It sacked the blackheads on my nose within a few days

The pores on my cheeks were smaller and the pores on my chin seemed not visible at all.

My skin did not get irritated with continued use.

My skin was even and clear, so I did not feel a need to use it daily after the initial week because my skin was much more even and clear, so then I switched to using the pads about every three days or so for upkeep before an event that I want to look nice or if my skin seems kind of blah, I step it up to every other day.

How to Best Use Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Pads

Tip: The directions say to also use the pad on the tops of your hands. There is enough product per pad to do your face, neck, and hands.

Tip: Some users says they cut a pad in half to make them last longer, but then there is probably only enough product to focus on face and neck.

I really like how there is enough product on the pads to use on knuckles and it cleans up ragged cuticles completely.

Where to Buy Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Pads

Beauty.com currently has a nice Peter Thomas Roth Gift with Purchase offer: Buy $40 of Peter Thomas Roth and get a deluxe bonus jar of Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads free, (a $15 value)
