CONSISTENCY & APPLICATION

Since it contains rich oils, I thought the application might be messy.

The capsule contents are thicker than oil, something of a liquidy honey consistency. So I expected it to be too stiff to spread easily on the skin.

But it smoothly and immediately sank into my skin. And the finish was not at all oily or sticky even when applied directly.

Massaging it into the face and throat feels relaxing and spa-like. It helps everything:

  • chronically dry lips
  • eleven lines
  • undereye dryness.

EmerginC Hydra-Repair Intensive Topical Infusion capsule form makes this rich treatment portable for beauty emergencies.

  • It contains Chlorophyll, an antioxidant that protects from premature aging.
  • Rich in fatty acids Omega 3 and 6, it strengthens the skin lipid barrier.
  • Vitamins C, D, and E, Avocado Oil promotes wound healing and collagen production [1] without clogging pores.

An antioxidant found naturally in our skin. It is a less potent form of retinoid that the skin converts.

Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate) is a natural form of Vitamin A that helps with wrinkles and fine lines.

OUR SIGI SKIN EXPERIENCE

I first used it one morning, as I mentally was going through my to-do list and generally distracted. I had patch-tested it for reactions a few days prior, so I knew it had a nice jelly-like texture and subtle Eucalyptus scent.

But then as I applied it to my face and started massaging it in, my mental to-do list melted away as I realized that the texture and sensation of this face wash was a world of difference from my standard cleansers, all of which I considered pretty great.

I literally said “OH WOW!” out loud.

So…continuing the recommended 120 seconds of face washing felt like a glorious but fleeting spa treatment. I delighted in making small, gentle circles around my face with my fingertips

Another surprise came when I washed it off: despite the medium-jelly consistency, it washed off clean and without any scrubbing. My face was truly clean: no vestiges of last night’s skincare routine.

And for as gentle as the cleanser is, it had taken off a mild layer of dead skin that was leaving my skin a little dull. My face had a healthy glow, which is a great way to start a morning!

As I went about my morning routine, I noticed something interesting, even though my skin felt truly and deeply clean, it wasn’t at all tight feeling.

That is usually the trade-off: there are a lot of good cleansers that give you a deep clean feeling, but also strip your skin of moisture and leave it feeling tight.

Not so with Sigi Skin Kaleanser Face Wash. My skin was moisturized and so, so soft.

what is Niacinamide?

Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is a water-soluble vitamin. The topical application of Niacinamide improves enlarged pores, fine lines, dullness, and a weakened skin surface. [1,2] It boosts hydration, fades hyperpigmentation and helps skin retain firmness. [3]

Niacinamide is great for sensitive skin that is unable to tolerate retinol.[4] Niacinamide is relatively nonirritating compared to other acne treatments. [5]

Niacinamide Research

Research shows Niacinamide has many benefits. Studies show that Niacinamide can:

  • Fade dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and discoloration naturally and gently. [6]  One study showed Niacinamide was less effective than hydroquinone. But in about two months, it did almost as good a job fading dark spots but without the side effects of hydroquinone. [7]
  • Provide pollution skincare. Niacinamide reduces the impact of environmental damage because it improves skin’s barrier [8]
  • Reduce the inflammation of rosacea and other inflammatory skin conditions [9]
  • Treat acne. In a double-blind clinical trial of inflammatory acne, 4% niacinamide worked as good as an antibiotic. [10]
  • Regulate sebum production [11]
  • Make ceramides [12]
  • Hold skin cancer prevention properties:
“Niacinamide … prevents ultraviolet radiation (UV) from reducing ATP levels and inhibiting glycolysis, thus preventing the UV radiation‐induced energy crisis. This enhances DNA repair and reduces UV‐induced suppression of immunity” [13]

What Makes this formulation special?

While gentler than many actives, some people experience irritation with Niacinamide. This formulation contains buffers like Organic Sunflower Seed Oil and Organic Aloe Vera that nourish the skin.

Importantly it combines Niacinamide with Hyaluronic Acid which works synergistically.

The Skin Daily Skin Care Solutions Niacinamide 5% Face Serum organic ingredient list includes hyaluronic acid

Why Hyaluronic + Niacinamide Works

A feature of this Skin Daily formulation is the pairing of Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide.

Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the skin, but it depletes as we age. Topical Hyaluronic Acid application replaces levels in the skin, giving a youthful glow.

This Skin Daily formulation pairs Niacinamide with Hyaluronic Acid

This Skin Daily formulation pairs Niacinamide with Hyaluronic Acid

Niacinamide makes hyaluronic acid in the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid is like a friend with VIP access; it uses its’ moisture pulling ability to draw active ingredients, like Niacinamide into deeper skin layers. The deeper Niacinamide can work, the better the overall skin appearance.

This means Hyaluronic helps Niacinamide make MORE hyaluronic in the lower layers of the skin.

It is imperative to use a moisturizer over Hyaluronic Acid, as it draws as much moisture as possible into the skin. If Hyaluronic Acid can’t get enough moisture, the surface of the skin can appear DRY, because the Hyaluronic is still “thirsty.” Fortunately, Skin Daily is packed with moisturizers.

This is a superior formulation with skin-friendly, natural, Niacinamide supporting ingredients. Let’s take a closer look:

Ingredients

Organic ingredients

Aloe vera nourishes delicate eye skin

Aloe vera nourishes delicate eye skin

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice comes from the Aloe Vera plant. Aloe Vera provides nourishment to the skin as it contains Vitamins A, C, Bs, and E as well as minerals and enzymes. This skin “food” heals, hydrates, and accelerates skin cell growth to treat acne and fight skin aging. It provides anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It soothes irritation.

NIACINAMIDE

A natural skin brightener that reduces hyperpigmentation and fine lines with strengthening Strengthens skin barrier, brightens, improving fine lines, and reduction in hyper-pigmentation.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid gets “beauty secret weapon” status due to its’ ability to hold enormous amounts of moisture; it can draw moisture from the air, sucking it into the skin. This moisture drawing ability has a dual benefit. Not only does it make skin as plump and dewy as possible, creating an environment where the skin contains as much hydration as it can hold, but it uses this water drawing ability to pull active ingredients, like Niacinamide, deeper into the skin.

Style Chicks Glossary of Skin and Hair Terms. glossary definition on StyleChicks.com

Avocado

Avocado Fruit Oil

Avocado oil benefits the hair, scalp and skin. Avocado oil massaged into the scalp prompts blood flow to hair follicles. Avocado Oil is 72% monounsaturated fatty acids. This is higher than Coconut or Grapeseed oils. Avocado oil decreases dryness and improves texture of skin. Rich in Omegas 3 and 6, Vitamins C,D, and E, Avocado Oil promotes scar healing and collagen production.[14]

Sunflower

organic Sunflower Seed Oil

Sunflower Seed Oil is hydrating, nourishing and an excellent “supporting” oil base. ItÂ. tains moisture in the skin and is also rich in vitamin E.

Linoleic acid gIves sunflower seed oil anti-inflammatory properties. Its other components include oleic acid and palmitic acid, lecithin, carotenoids, tocopherols, and numerous vitamins. It is a natural treatment for atopic dermatitis. [15]

Neem Seed Oil

Neem Seed Oil

Neem Seed Oil heals sun damage and restores moisture. It deeply penetrates the skin to enhance elasticity, smooth wrinkles, and stimulate collagen production.

glycerin

Glycerin is a natural, non-toxic, vegan-friendly humectant and hydrates. It helps skin attract and maintain moisture.

Rosemary

Organic Rosemary Leaf Extract

Rosemary Extract combats dry skin. It naturally protects the skin from sun damage and free radicals. It also has natural antiseptic properties and is a gentle exfoliant for dead skin flakes.

Rosemary Extract is soothing and helps reduce puffiness and lightens dark spots. It is stimulating and promotes better blood circulation to deliver the nutrients necessary to build collagen, elastin and to encourage scar repair

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E prevents the signs of premature aging by softening skin texture. Vitamin E makes rough, sunburned, scarred or otherwise damaged skin soft and pliable. Once the skin is pliable, other treating ingredients can work their magic. It also reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

The experience

Apply a pea-sized amount to the face. Wait five minutes and apply moisturizer.

It doesn’t sting or leave skin red. There is no sticky or chalky dry-down. Makeup and sunscreen go over the serum without pilling. Leaves skin with a nice, even tone. Skin quickly looks brighter with daily use.

How to Best Use Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum aHA Peel

January 22, 2020 · 12 Comments

October 1, 2025 UPDATE: This article is a product review of Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel that was formerly named Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum. The ingredients remain the same, only the name and packaging changed.

Read our experience about flake-free exfoliation and our full ingredient analysis. We use both the new and old names in this review, ingredient analysis and FAQ.

Exfoliation enables proper absorption of actives and removes dull, bacteria-trapping dead skin. Exfoliation can also irritate the skin. How can you exfoliate without getting dry, peeling skin? Try Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel (formerly named Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum).
Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel packaging

Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum is now called Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel

What is Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel (Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum)?

Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum | aHA Exfoliating Peel is an impressive exfoliative that doesn’t sting, irritate or burn. Yet it gently removes dead skin with ZERO itchy, red peeling.

And it is packed with all kinds of goodness to improve skin texture and clarity while fading discoloration.

Why Use Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel (Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum)?

Exfoliating sensitive skin is necessary but can be tricky.

Does Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel really work?

Does Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel really work? Yes, we think so.

  1. Our three test subjects used Mad Hippie Exfoliative Serum for one week.
  2. 2 of our 3 Style Chicks team testers have very sensitive skin. They cannot tolerate most traditional exfoliation scrubs or Glycolic peels higher than 10%.
  3. They had no problems with Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel
  4. All three experienced a major exfoliative impact with zero rubbing, scrubbing or skin irritation.
  5. I used aHA Exfoliating Peel for a full month. It made a big difference on improving my skin texture and fading dark spots.
  6. Apply it at night, and wake up to smoother skin!

Why Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum aHA Peel Works

It is not irritating. But it is powerful.

There are aHAs, peptides, antioxidants and buffers.

Don’t layer it with:

  • Products with other actives like Alpha Lipoic Acid or Retinol
  • products like Mad Hippie Vitamin A or Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

Because it does not sting or peel, it is easy to think this serum isn’t doing much at first.

But plenty is already happening in this formulation. There is no need to add more ingredients to this mix.

It contains 16 active ingredients!  Let’s take a look:

What is in Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum aHA Peel?
The
Ingredient Profile

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic Acid (AHA) loosens the glue that adheres dry, dead skin to healthy skin, and then dissolves away the dead skin.

It is the best way to exfoliate mature skin. There is no rubbing or pulling the skin.

There is also little to no peeling and limited redness or irritation after use.

Skin is brighter, younger, softer, with few lines and wrinkles, and it glows like younger skin. Glycolic Acid reduces acne scars. [1] Glycolic Acid also promotes collagen production.

Apple Stem Cells in Mad Hippie Exfoliating Serum Mad Hippie aHA Exfoliating Peel

Malus Domestica

Malus Domestica

Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract is Apple Stem Cells.

It is a Swiss Apple ideal for creating vegan-based stem cells. These stem cells:

  • build new tissue
  • delay aging
  • fight wrinkles

Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate Acid)

Sodium Hyaluronate Acid is a non-synthesized form of Hyaluronic Acid.

It has a lower molecular size compared to other Hyaluronic Acids. This is good because it can absorb deeper into the skin.

It has Hyaluronic Acid benefits. It is found naturally and ample supply in young skin, but depletes with age.

Hyaluronic Acid retains moisture and increases the effectiveness of other ingredients.  It holds so much moisture that it instantly plumps fine lines. This plumps the skin, making fine wrinkles and mild sagging temporarily disappear.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid exfoliates and brightens skin. It is gentler than glycolic acid.
