Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

March 7, 2021 · 1 Comment

Unlike most Vitamin C creams, Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream’s potent anti-aging punch is delivered in a formula that offers extreme hydration. And it comes with an adorable little bamboo spoon to hygienically scoop out just the right amount for face and throat. Check out the synergistic actives in this brilliant formulation.
Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

About Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream

Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream is filled with 19 synergistic actives!

It delivers three bio-available Vitamin C’s. This trio of Vitamin C addresses the full spectrum of what C has to offer.

The three Vitamin C’s are:

  • Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is ideal for sensitive skin. It is less exfoliating but produces collagen and suppresses discoloration.
  • Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate absorbs deeply and works well with other Cs.
  • Ascorbyl Glucoside is a stable C that offers antioxidant protection, collagen boosting, and fading hyperpigmentation.[1]

Along with this trio of C’s, Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream contains multiple anti-aging superstars such as Reishi and Cloudberry.

Cloudberry Cloudberry has four times the Vitamin C of an orange. It builds collagen, fights off attacks on collagen, reduces wrinkles, and hydrates.

The Experience

It is a rich, creamy, and spreadable texture that dries down smooth and not sticky or tacky.

The smooth texture of Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream is tempting to slather, but it is a treating cream, so just use the spoonful.

It does not sting, but when I applied it, I could tell it was potent.

Reishi mushroom

Reishi mushroom

Reishi mushroom promotes cell regeneration while reducing skin inflammation, puffiness, and wrinkles.

Best Use Tips & Tricks

Don’t layer other actives with Mad Hippie Triple C Night Cream.

If you MUST add a top layer, make sure it is a cream with no extra treating actives. But there are plenty of soothing moisturizers in this formula so you likely will not need any secondary products with this cream.

Turmeric Turmeric extract is an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant that helps reduce and heal acne. It also reduces skin discoloration.

March 5, 2021 · 1 Comment

Winter weather makes skin feel dry and lackluster.  Even aged or damaged skin looks better when adequately hydrated. Sensitive skin types may shy away from a toner for fear of irritation and dryness. Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner contains amazing ingredients for intense skin hydration. But don’t toners sting sensitive skin? Nope, Orchid Serum Toner soothes, softens, and plumps the skin.

Why It Works

Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner is lightweight like a toner but soothing and plumping like a serum.
What exactly makes this product so versatile? Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner contains amazing ingredients for skin balancing and intense skin hydration.

Let’s take a closer look:

Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner

Key Ingredient Profile

Orchid extracts are exceptionally skin hydrating

Orchid extracts are exceptionally skin hydrating

Orchid in Gelmersea Orchid Extract

Orchid

Orchid Extract

Orchid Extracts provide skin hydration.

Orchid root cells provide the orchid bloom longevity. This functionality is extracted to provide long-lasting skin hydration and plumping action.

Orchids contain mucilage to maintain hydration. When applied to the skin, Orchid mucilage has a high water binding capacity, working as a moisturizer and emollient.[1]

Orchids are also an anti-oxidant to fight free radicals [2] increase skin immunity and plump fine lines.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract

Flowering Camellia Sinensis or Green Tea soothes sensitive skin

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract is better known as Green Tea. Green Tea feeds and moisturizes the skin, calms irritation, and is an excellent antioxidant.

Topical Green Tea application can calm the irritation that aggressive topicals such as Retinol cause.  It can reduce sun damage, decrease collagen breakdown and increase cell regeneration.

Green tea contains polyphenols that soothe the skin while providing antioxidants. Polyphenols may improve sun-damaged skin. [3]/

High in Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), green tea is a major player in skin health and appearance. EGCG is the potent antioxidant from green tea. It protects against environmental damage and neutralizes free radicals that prematurely age skin. Research shows EGCG reactivates dying skin cells. This shows promise for repairing sun damage and scar healing. [4]

The hydrating components of green tea create more volume in the skin to plump wrinkles.

Daffodil Extract

Daffodil Extract

Daffodil Root Extract

Daffodil Root Extract contains lycorine which is an anti-oxidant. [5]

Antioxidants help fight free radicals.  Free radicals accelerate the skins of aging.

Wild Yam Extract

Wild Yam Extract is an anti-inflammatory that reduces dark spots.

Rich in saponins, it promotes collagen production and skin radiance. Saponins are believed to enhance skin restoration on a DNA level within the skin cells. [6]

Diosgenin is a depigmenting agent in the skin, it reduces the spots that can arise from sun damage.[7]

Arginine

Arginine is an essential amino acid, the building blocks of skin peptides and proteins as well as hydration transportation within the skin. It helps restore skin damage. Vital to healthy, beautiful skin.

Lysine

Also an essential amino acid, Lysine strengthens the skin’s surface, helps to hydrate skin, clears acne, and supplies collagen-making components to the skin. Vital to healthy, beautiful skin.

Glutarmine

Glutarmine is an amino acid needed to grow fibroblast cells. Fibroblast cells significantly increase collagen production. Also an anti-oxidant. Glutarmine is abundant in the skin but is valuable in a formulation because it makes skin feel and look healthy and vibrant. [8]

Peony Root Extract

Peony Root Extract

Peony Root Extract

Paeonia Albiflora is Peony Root Extract. Peony Root Extract is helpful with regenerating skin experiencing sun damage-related issues.

Peony Root Extract offers anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits to fight free radicals. Peony Root Extract promotes skin clarity and brightens the complexion.  It contains paeonol, which is antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory.

While Peony fights free radicals, it is still gentle and safe to layer with actives such as Retinol or Vitamin C.

THE EXPERIENCE

Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner doesn’t burn or sting. It behaves more like a serum as it soothes and hydrates. But it is lightweight and non-sticky like a toner.

Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner

Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner

The scent is a light fresh floral when pumped out of the bottle, but dissipates during application.

Light floral scent and deep hydration

Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner has a light floral scent and gives skin deep hydration

Use it in the morning or evening to prepare the skin.

Exceptionally hydrating! It is also an excellent face mask. One of my favorite pre or post NuFace treatment tricks is to put orchid serum toner on soaked cotton pads or face mask sheets and leave it on for ten-fifteen minutes. It is like a spa treat!

I am impressed that it simultaneously improves the look of fine wrinkles, dehydration, and adult acne. Hooray for Orchid Serum Toner!

We also love to use it after Nuface or peel: the combination leaves skin lifted and hydrated

Try Gelmersea Orchid Serum Toner after your Nuface treatment

CBD Skincare: The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company

February 9, 2021 · 5 Comments

CBD has anti-aging, skin-enhancing, and skin healing benefits. Topical CBD also provides muscle relief. But for CBD to work, it requires a specific dosage, quality, and formulation. A product that meets all these criteria is The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company. It has an astounding 1500mg of CBD to soothe muscles and improve chronic skin conditions…including signs of aging.
The Balm by Deeply Rooted

The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company provides superior skincare benefits

Defining Quality CBD Skincare

You’ve probably seen CBD in many popular boutique brands at Sephora, Violet Gray, Blue Mercury, and Ulta.

But some CBD skincare uses just enough CBD to include it on the ingredient list, but not enough CBD to offer effective skincare or muscle relief. This practice is called “sprinkling”. Sprinkling is surprisingly common, even amongst some well-known, reputable beauty brands. Some beauty brands include only 50-100mg of CBD in their formulations.

Another practice is using questionably sourced or heavily processed CBD isolates. CBD Isolates are so highly processed that they lose the valuable CBD nutrients, including skin-loving CBG (more about CBG later).

The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company is a full-spectrum CBD free of all these common CBD problems.

The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company is an impressive formulation

Have you ever been underwhelmed by a CBD skincare product? Then you got a product with subpar CBD. Because good CBD lives up to the hype.

Why The Balm is Special

Hands chapped from so much extra hand washing? The Balm is excellent on soothing my rough, dry cuticles

CBD Skincare Benefits

Full Spectrum CBD, such as used in The Balm, has several skincare benefits.

Hemp Seed Oils fatty acid profile is highly beneficial for the skin. It protects the skin barrier and treats several skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, and acne. Hemp seed oil is a good source of polyunsaturated and essential fatty acids. These address the skins of skin aging.

CBG

Cannabigerols (CBG) is a very important compound found in full spectrum CBD. CBG is a skin-care superstar.

CBG kills bacteria and reduces inflammation. CBG addresses complicated skin problems that typically require prescription creams. These include moderate photo-damage, eczema and psoriasis. [2]

CBG is difficult to extract, so a Full-spectrum CBD like The Balm is a great way to get CBG benefits.

CBD Skin Care Research

CBD Research

CBD Research Studies show many skincare and pain relief benefits

Research studies show CBD helps:

  • Dry and irritated skin
  • Sore muscles and joints
  • Bruises
  • Chapped lips
  • Signs of aging such as wrinkles and dullness
  • Inflammation, including inflammation due to chronic inflammatory conditions [3,4]
  • Acne
  • Skin sensitivity
  • Excess sebum[5]
  • Eczema and Psoriasis[6]
  • Restores sun-damaged skin

Topical CBD for Pain Relief

Exercise or repetitive tasks can cause achy joints and sore muscles. Topical CBD can help. The European Journal of Pain published a study reports:

“topical CBD application has therapeutic potential for relief of arthritis pain-related behaviours and inflammation without evident side-effects.”[7]

The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company has 1500mg of CBD per tin

How The Balm’s Supporting Ingredients Soothe sore muscles

Injury or exercise can induce muscle soreness.

The action of the ingredients Comfrey and Plantain are particularly interesting because, during the initial period of injury, the liver secretes an enzyme that causes the activity of fibroblasts in the body to increase collagen production, the protein the body uses to repair soft tissue.

Comfrey and Plantain produce the compound Allantoin, which stimulates the activity of the fibroblasts to continue producing collagen beyond the initial period of injury, after which time the fibroblasts ordinarily return to their pre-injury level of activity.

Scan the QR code on the bottom of the tin for the independent lab testing results for that batch

As a result, soft tissue repair continues at an accelerated pace for as long as the Comfrey and Plantain-containing formula is applied.

Arnica supports the healing that has been set in motion by Comfrey and Plantain, as do the other ingredients. It is very effective on post-workout soreness.

Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients found in The Balm.

The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company

Ingredient Profile

CBD Oil comes from Cannabis Sativa

Hemp Oil

Organic Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. Hemp Seed Oil doesn’t contain the same compounds as the plant, but still has the nutrients and fatty acids.  These include essential amino acids, omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, Vitamin E, and minerals.

Food-grade Hemp Seed Oil contains no THC or only trace levels. THC is the compound associated with the cannabis “high”.

Olive oil

Olive Oil

Olive Oil moisturizes but won’t clog pores. It has skin-enhancing Omega-3s and polyphenols.

Linoleic acid has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.

Olive Oil within a formulation removes the greasy feel of direct application.

Shea Butter

Derived from the Shea nut, this emollient is packed with vitamins to soften skin, heals scars, and reduces acne.

Shea can feed the skin and overhaul the skin texture, even on deep burns.

Cocoa Seed

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa Butter from the fatty part of the Cocoa bean.

Cocoa Butter is popular for pre-empting stretch marks. It helps the skin remain resilient and elastic. It is also moisturizing.

Cocoa Seed Butter contains a significant amount of polyphenol and flavonoid antioxidants.

Cocoa Butters’ natural barrier action compensates for the disrupted ceramides levels typically found in dry, irritated or inflamed skin.

Beeswax

Beeswax

Beeswax

Beeswax is a bee by-product which softens the skin. It has an occlusive quality to provide a barrier while retaining moisture.

It is a natural skin conditioner that stands up to wind, dry weather, cold winters, and hot summer sun.

Calendula

Calendula

Calendula flower promotes the regeneration of new tissue and soothes damaged skin.

Studies have shown that calendula can increase collagen production and stimulates epithelial cell growth to promote cell turnover [8].

It is an anti-inflammatory that helps heal the skin. It is generally used in conjunction with other ingredients to help buffer potent ingredients and soothe the skin.

Comfrey

Comfrey

Comfrey is used for the “topical treatment of pain, inflammation and swelling of muscles and joints in degenerative arthritis, acute myalgia in the back, sprains, contusions and strains after sports injuries and accidents” [9]

Plantain

A starchy cousin of the tropical banana. They are often  called cooking bananas.

In addition to the comfrey-plantain collagen-producing and healing action described above, Plantains contain magnesium for muscle cramp relief.

Arnica

Arnica is in The Balm

Arnica

Arnica flower is a natural anti-inflammatory. It reduces puffiness without causing dryness or dehydration.

It also decreases bruising and inflammation. Arnica promotes healing and reduces swelling.

Studies show it is helpful with osteoarthritis and knee pain. It reduces swelling.[11]

Lemongrass

Lemongrass

The leaves and oils of the Lemongrass plant are used for a variety of ailments including rheumatism and achy joints.

Lemongrass has a fresh, calming, citrus scent.

Lavender

Lavender Oil softens and conditions the skin.

It contains linalyl acetate, an anti-inflammatory that heals skin irritation.[10]

Lavender’s anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties keep skin healthy. It has soothing properties to calm any imbalances such as inflammation or dry skin flaking.

The linalyl acetate in lavender enhances cell growth in the skin.

The Experience

A freshly opened tin of The Balm has a smooth texture. It is harder than jelly or cream but it is not difficult to work with or scoop. Just a small amount is all you need.

Freshly opened The Balm has a smooth texture. It is harder than jelly but not stiff or difficult to work with

texture

Non-sticky balm that melts into an easy to apply oil texture.

The Balm texture and consistency

The Balm texture and consistency

Close up on a scoop of The Balm to see the texture. It is the color of honey but not at all sticky, even on dry down

scent

Refreshing lemongrass as a top note. Far preferable to the tell-tale “Bengay” like odors of many topical ointments.

Directions: apply to dry skin, sore muscles, joints, and bruises. Rub in well.

application

The Balm quickly melts into the skin. It is not sticky like Bengay or lidocaine creams. The Balm doesn’t stain clothing, make me oily or leave a residue. It doesn’t burn or sting.

The Balm is outstanding on chapped lips. My lips are chronically dry, especially in winter. I tried everything, even Creme de la Mer concentrate. The Balm soothes chapped lips while providing a mild plumping action.

The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company

The Balm by Deep Rooted Hemp Company is a natural remedy to soothe sore muscles. It also provides a superior natural remedy for several chronic skincare ailments.

CBD instead of OTC Pain Relievers

With unexplained muscle or joint aches, it is always wise to check with your doctor to avoid masking a serious underlying issue.

But if your muscular pain and soreness associated with exercise or other known causes, you might find this product a good alternative to many others whose negatives outweigh their positives. Why take ibuprofen or Tylenol when a safe, natural remedy will work?

Kat Burki Power Trio Oil is Step No. 5 In The Kat Burki 5 Essential Steps For Healthy Skin. It still imparts impressive results when used alone.

what We Love About It

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil gets the job done with a combination of just three oils. There are no additives and it is not watered down. A little bit goes a long way.
Kat Burki Power Trio Oil is a combo of three oils including raspberry seed oil

Kat Burki Power Trio Oil is a combo of three oils including raspberry seed oil

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil uses Raspberry seed oil which is filled with skin nourishing, collagen-building nutrients. It is gentle yet effective in addressing many skin issues.

Let’s take a look at the amazing properties of these three oils:

 Ingredient Profile

Raspberry Oil is rich in Ellagic acid, a wrinkle-reducing polyphenol compound

Red Raspberry Seed Oil

Red Raspberry Seed Oil moisturizes the skin, improves elasticity, reduces wrinkles and fine lines. It contains multiple vitamins and nutrients that are wonderful for skin.

Raspberry Oil is rich in Ellagic acid, a wrinkle-reducing polyphenol compound

Raspberry

Red Raspberry Seed Oil contains phytosterols. Phytosterols promote new collagen production.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil is rich in ellagic acid and has been shown to reduce the destruction of collagen, reduce wrinkles as well as protecting against Ultraviolet damage from the sun. [1] Ellagic acid is also a natural moisture sealant.

Red Raspberry seed oil has a high Vitamin E content. Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant, it reduces skin damage and removes free radicals that contribute to skin-aging.

Red raspberry seed oil contains a high amount of Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Raspberry Seed Oil contains Salicylic Acid to tackle adult acne and build collagen.

kukui Nut Oil

Aleurites moluccanus, also known as candlenut or kukui nut.

This oil can do something unusual: it can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin. This is especially exciting since it also helps promote collagen production. The deeper the skin can make collagen, the firmer it looks.

It is a dry oil yet is highly emollient and creates a protective layer.

Rich in Omega-3s, it replenishes fleshly washed skin after the irritation of cleansers and makeup removers.

It contains the skin-refining vitamins A, C, and E.  A and C can be harsh on the skin, but Kukui Nut has such great softening and buffering properties that it makes C and A accessible to those with sensitive skin or skin conditions like eczema.

It reduces inflammation, treats wounds and burns, and soothes conditions like eczema.

tamanu oil

Tamanu Oil is called “Green Gold” because of its’ versatile skin and hair beauty uses. The oil comes from the Tamanu Tree found in Polynesia.

Tamanu

Tamanu

Tamanu oil is used for cosmetic and topical applications. It is primarily used where anti-inflammatory properties are beneficial. Tamanu Oil research supports using Tamanu Oil for the healing of burns, scars, and some skin diseases. [2]

Both anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, Tamanu Oil is used for skin conditions such as:

  • acne scars
  • burns
  • eczema
  • psoriasis
  • flaky, scaly or dry skin.

Tamanu Oil has a unique fatty acid profile. It has an unusual fatty acid called calophyllic acid. There are few studies on Calophyllum (calophyllic acid). But studies do exist, and there are enough to give credence to the skin healing ability of Tamanu Oil. Various studies verified the wound healing, safety, and antibacterial properties of Calophyllum [3,4]. This supports the anecdotal reports of the skin improvement seen with the traditional use of Tamanu Oil for at least scars, burns, and stretch marks.

The Experience

Kat Burki Power Trio Radiance Oil is not watery but not thick. It is more of a dry oil feel.

It spreads well and leaves skin with a non-sticky, non-greasy glow. Seals in skincare products without pilling.

It only takes a few drops to cover the face, throat, and upper décolletage.

I can smell the Kukui nut but it dissipates after a few minutes. Once it dries down it doesn’t stain my pillowcase.

My skin is softer and seems clearer and more refined in the morning after use. The tone on my neck looks better. It locks in moisture even on moisture-robbing hot nights with air conditioning.
