Cartier Tiaras aren’t exactly plentiful, but you can still have a royal look on your wedding day. The fantastic folks at Lock & Mane have you covered when it comes to bridal hair accessories, but our favorite modern take on the tiara is still the Carolina Rodriguez Reina Jeweled Headband. You can read our thoughts on it here!

Remember a few years ago when it was all the rage to use a gorgeous brooch as a hair clip? I loved it, but there was a few problems – first, it was hard to grab enough hair in a standard pin clasp to really hold it in place – the brooches kept flopping all over the place. Second, if my hair was conditioned as much as it should be, the pin tended to slip down on the silky strands. Third, using a pointy pin next to my head seemed rather dangerous (I ended up pricking my head with a pin more than once….ouch!).

I’m guessing the good folks at Ban.do had these concerns in mind when they designed the fabulous Ban.do 100 Vintage Brooch Bobby Pin. They copied it from a stunning brooch they found at an estate sale and instead of a pin, they attached it to a bobby pin. So it will stay in place, hold enough hair to create a style, not poke you in the head with a pin, and add a chic sparkle to your bridal look.

If you are a bride who is considering a Veronica Lake style for your big day (and if you need ideas, check out January Jones in Marie Claire UK), you may want to give some thought to the 100 Vintage Brooch Bobby Pin.  It’s perfect for holding hair back on one side so everyone can see your pretty face as you say I Do!

Personally, I think tiaras should be part of everyday dress. Wouldn’t making a sandwich just be all the more special if you were wearing a jeweled tiara?

But if you are insistent that tiaras should be reserved for royalty and brides, then this Carolina Rodriguez Reina Jeweled Headband is a fresh take on the bridal tiara. The headband will hold your hair in place and pull light towards your face. Try it with an updo for an extra wow factor.

Interested in better posture? Putting the life and lift back into your favorite bra? Having “Lara Croft shoulders”? Having a better jawline and cheekbones?

Then you need a Bra Barrette.

What is a Bra Barrette, you ask? Instead of making a DIY contraption (string, paper clip, rubber bands, etc) to keep your bra straps from sliding off your shoulders, the inventor of the Bra Barrette had a stroke of genius – how about creating an cute, fun plastic bra strap holder? One that actually works – hook one swirly side under your bra strap, hook the other side to the other strap, adjust to the spot you want it, and you bra and bra straps stay in place all day.

And so the Bra Barrette was invented. Cool, eh?

So let’s take a look at some of the benefits of the Bra Barrette, other than your straps staying in place (which is enough of a benefit in itself!):

A decent part of my workout is working my shoulders and core to get great posture – but holding perfect posture all day really isn’t feasible under all circumstances. The Bra Barrette provides a nice reminder to hold your shoulders back, down, and together – giving you a long, lean, graceful look.

Speaking of working out, I adore the Bra Barrette in the gym – I hate having to pull my bra straps back up when I’m on the bike. If you push it a little farther down on your strap (closer to the band), it also stabilizes your bra like a sports bra but without the discomfort. It’s also great if you wear a tank or cami top to the gym – with all of Bra Barrette’s great designs and optional interchangeable charm packs (check out all the adorable designs!), you can wear your Bra Barrette like jewelry on top of your clothes - and at the same time, keep your bra straps from peeking out from under your tank. I’m loving my copper Bra Barrette with a little sailboat charm attached over my tank! Jewelry that doesn’t look ridiculous at the gym!

And since this is a beauty site, we have to talk about how it makes your facial contours stand out. When you stand with your shoulders in the right place, your neck correctly aligns and you’ll see a more defined jawline and chin. You’ll also see chiseled cheekbones – if you don’t wear a Bra Barrette any other time – wear it when you are putting on your makeup, so you can get a sense of where to contour. And if your chin, jawline, and cheekbones are at their best, then, yes, your lips will look poutier.

And I just thought it would keep my straps from slipping off my shoulders. Silly me.

And the good folks at Bra Barrette now have a Breast Cancer Awareness line of pink Bra Barrettes and all proceeds are donated to Team Bra Barrette for the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. Support a great cause and get a great product!

I just noticed on Nordstrom.com that they price match if you find your item at a lower price elsewhere. Just call 1-888-282-6060 and they will match the price.

I tend to find when I’m shopping around that Nordstrom usually has the best price anyways, but good to know.

The fur…the heel…and yes, the brooch…
