Take a look at Veronica from Archie Comics – you know where the light bounces off her hair a little above the temple. That’s a sign of youth seems like a small thing, but adding shine to your hair can make you look far younger. And if, like me, you’ve tried all sorts of shine serums trying to get your hair to have shine and luminosity, you probably have also been disappointed by many – you may get shine, but you also get greasy hair – it’s just too easy to use too much shine serum.
Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about that any longer thanks to the wonderful people at Frederic Fekkai. I was excited when I heard about Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze, but it absolutely blew me away when I tried it.
As I mentioned before, Fekkai Salon Glaze has good stuff in it: Pearl proteins to make your hair luminous, and grape seed extract, sweet almond protein, and B-5 vitamins to get your hair in great condition fast.
But just how fast was what astonished me after my first use (apply it to your hair for three to five minutes after you wash your hair and then rinse out), my hair had an amazing shine to it, and no residue! By use #3, my hair reflected light like a mirror I was amazed.
I really like that Salon Glaze is non-chemical, but achieves the same results as getting your hair professionally glazed and far more convenient. After washing and conditioning your hair, squeeze (gently!) the excess water out of your hair, and then apply enough to cover your hair all the way from the scalp to the ends. You don’t need a ton of it apply it to one section first and you’ll get the hang of how much you need it pretty much absorbs in immediately. If you don’t like conditioning too close to your scalp for fear of buildup don’t worry, this washes out clean. Wait three to five minutes, and rinse out. Style whatever way you like, and enjoy the super shine! If you color your hair, this is a great way to keep your color looking fresh from the salon far longer.
Like I said before, each time you use it your hair gets shinier I didn’t get the mirror-like shine until the third use, but I would have been thrilled if any product had given me the shine I got from the first use as well. It doesn’t look like you have more product it your hair simply looks massively more healthy and super shiny.
I found that using Fekkai Salon Glaze in conjunction with Fekkai All-Day Hair Plump left my hair in out of this world condition and silkier than I’ve ever seen it they work really well together.
Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze is available at Sephora.com and Beauty.com

I have to warn you if you use the new Frederic Fekkai All Day Hair Plump, you may end up losing endless hours of your day simply staring at your hair in the mirror. Admiring how much hair you have. How smooth it is. How your hair is perfectly healthy from root to ends. How much bounce your hair has when you turn your head. How you will clearly be the prettiest girl at the party. It’s going to take up a big portion of your day until you get used to being just that fabulous.
It’s no secret that I love Fekkai products, but the two that I’ve tried recently the Fekkai Salon Glaze (stay tuned for my review on that) and the Fekkai All Day Hair Plump have really blown me away. As I said to one of the other Style Chicks today, the Fekkai All Day Hair Plump makes it feel like you have double the amount of hair on your head. And brings your hair back to how healthy it was when you were a kid – that amazing shine, softness and luminosity of a child’s hair. With no residue or stickiness, either.
To use, I pumped out about four pumps (which isn’t a whole lot of the product – this bottle will last a long time) and applied it to wet hair. This was enough to coat all of my long, thick hair (my hair goes a little past mid-back). It feels like it instantly absorbs into your hair – there really is no residue or oiliness to it. From there, I used a straightening drier attachment and dried it in sections – maybe about a tenth of my head at a time. I got amazing volume, incredible shine and luminosity, and best of all, it looked stronger and healthier than I’ve ever seen my hair. Like strands of silk growing out my head!
You can use All Day Hair Plump with your usual styling products the third time I used All Day Hair Plump I followed it up with Frederic Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel from the Coiff Collection and got shiny, bouncy, soft to the touch curls.
The way it plumps your hair cuticle is amazing! I have an area near my temple that is a bit thinner than the rest of my hairline, so I usually part my hair in the middle. With All-Day Hair Plump, I was able to side-part my hair right at the point I usually cover and it looks as full and thick as the rest of my hair. Are your ends looking thinner than the rest of your hair? Use this product and your hair will have the same thickness all the way down your hair shaft. I’ve tried a lot of products trying to get that effect, and not one has come close.
How does it do all this?
This great serum (BTW as with most hair products, rubs the product between your hands a few times the heat from your hands will take the lotion-like formula and melt it into a serum it’s kind of like activating it) provides a continuous, time release moisturization of your hair all day. It fills damaged spots in the hair cuticle (the stuff that makes your hair feel rough and what leads to split ends) via marine peptides and Hyaluronate.
Hyaluronate is the same stuff as Hyaluronic Acid that is found in high end skincare products, which has the same amazing plumping and youthifying effect on skin. It is able to not leave residue or be sticky because it fills in the damaged spot so basically there is nothing left on the outside of your hair, it all gets absorbed in.
Fekkai All-Day Hair Plump is part of the Advance Hair Care line from Fekkai, and the daytime equivalent of the Fekkai Overnight Hair Repair. I haven’t tried the Overnight Hair Repair, but I would be interested in seeing how it works in tandem with the All Day Plump as a long term hair repair system if it works half as well as the All Day Hair Plump, my hair would look like I’ve never seen the sun or a heat process in my life.

One of the March giveaways in Allure this month was a new product from Fekkai, the Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze. Aimed to give that “fresh from the salon” shine and color boost at home, it contains pearl protein for reflective shine (the same stuff that comes in some face highlighting products), vitamin B-5 (great stuff for getting your hair in better condition), sweet almond protein, and grape seed extract – all of which are great for your hair.
The problem I always have with typical shine serums is that I can’t distribute them evenly, so one spot end up looking greasy. However, this glaze apparently doesn’t add weight or oiliness, so this may be the answer to the shine product dilemma.
If you are excited to get salon shiny hair at home, and like me, didn’t get in on time to the Allure giveaway at the beginning of the month, you can find the Salon Glaze at Beauty.com for $28.00.
Update: It is now also available at Sephora. It is on backorder at Neiman Marcus.
Second Update: I tried it and you can read my review of it here.
