Viola Rouge Eye Creams

March 25, 2022 · Leave a Comment

We previously introduced you to Viola Rouge cosmetics, a clean beauty brand with lipsticks in vibrant colors. Today we explore the eyeshadow collection. These creamy shadows come in lush shades and feature skin-friendly ingredients to brighten and protect the eye area skin.

Viola Rouge Eye Creams contain saffron from the saffron crocus

Viola Rouge Eye Creams contain saffron from the saffron crocus

What Makes It Special

It is a clean beauty formula with It’s formulated without paraffin, gluten, mineral oil, nanoparticles, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, ureas, silicone D5 and polyfluorinated /perfluorinated compounds.

And thanks to the VIOLA ROUGE Pick Your Perfect Shade Quiz, I found shades perfect for my skin tone. They aren’t the shades I would think to pick for myself, so I was pleasantly surprised.

The creamy texture works nicely as both an eyeshadow and creamy liner.

Feature Ingredients

Saffron reduces inflammation, brightens the skin, reduces hyperpigmentation, and protects against UV rays.

The malachite gemstone, when used in makeup and skincare preparations, detoxes and protects the skin from oxidative stress. It increases collagen and elastin production

This clean beauty formula is:

  • GMO-free
  • Leaping Bunny cruelty-free certified
  • vegan

The SHADES

A mousse-like gel eyeshadow with a creamy, matte finish, neutral dark olive color with cool undertones, or shimmery shades in a creamy base. They blend together exceptionally well to make watercolor washes of color or bold vibrant layers. They work great as an eyeshadow that doesn’t crease or as a eyeliner that won’t fade or smear. It dries down well without cracking.

The top shade is a blend of the two bolder shades below.

The shadows blend together to make lovely custom shades

GOOPGLOW 15% Glycolic Acid Overnight Glow Peel

March 24, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Wake up with glowing skin with this Overnight Glow Peel. This once a week treat is chock full of skin-friendly ingredients

About GOOP GLOW Peel

While I love glycolic acid, I didn’t see what would be so special about THIS glycolic acid pad versus other glycolic acid peels available at a fraction of the price. Boy was I surprised to see what a refined result GOOP GLOW gives!

This is likely due to the notable ingredient lineup and the design of the peel pad itself.

With aHA, there is almost never the uneven peeling that often comes with many chemical peels or scrubs, so there is less post-peel downtime with AHA. Skin is just soft and dewy looking, not red and irritated.

While skin can get red and irritated from AHA, as long as it is done properly, irritation will be short-lived, so it makes for an excellent anti-aging product.

First, let’s take a look at the ingredients paired with aHA in GOOP GLOW:

Key Ingredients

Glycolic Acid (AHA)

15% AHA, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid from sugar cane. With an AHA peel, it loosens the “glue” that holds dead skin cells without scrubbing or rubbing the skin.

There is also a light version with 5% AHA, a much gentler approach ideal for skin that uses topicals such as Retinol or super sensitive skin types.

Australian Kakadu Plum

Kakadu plums are the highest natural source of vitamin C to support collagen synthesis and provide antioxidant support. It reduces acne, fades scars, and reduces fine lines.

Kakadu plums are also high in gallic acid and ellagic acid to fight free radicals, hydrate the skin and prevent the skin from damage.

Mango

Mangifera Indica Pulp Extract

Also known as Mango.

Mango is an emollient. Rich in fatty acids, it keeps skin hydrated and nourished.

Mango extract also contains Vitamins C, A, E, K, and B6.

Mango Seed Extract is high in copper, which supports Collagen, Elastin and increases Hyaluronic Acid production within the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid Trio

This formula contains three molecular sizes of Hyaluronic Acid to provide optimal hydration.

Glycerin

Glycerin is a natural vegetable-derived humectant. Glycerin helps the skin to retain moisture. Glycerin fills in gaps in dryer skin which makes skin look better and keeps the outer layer of the skin intact.

Musa sapientum (Banana) Pulp Extract

Banana extract is anti-inflammatory[1], antibiotic, and anti-oxidant. [2]

Zizyphus Jujuba Seed Extract

Also known as Chinese date. It is in the buckthorn family and behaves like jojoba.

Lavender

Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil

Lavender Oil softens the skin.

Lavender’s anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties keep skin healthy. It has soothing properties to calm imbalances such as inflammation or dry skin flaking.

The Experience

This is a dual-sided pad. It has an exfoliative basket-weave texture side and a smooth side.

texture

The dual-layer design has a finger pocket. It is useful for an even, clean application.

Each pad is in a sealed packet. These pads are well-saturated. One pad treats my face, décolletage, collarbone, and neck. I apply any remaining product to the top of my hands.

I experienced no redness or irritation in the morning.

Two days later, I had very light peeling on the sides of my nose.  The peel loosened up stubborn side-of-the-nose-blackheads. A few days after my whiteheads began to subside and purge.

Where to Find It

GOOPGLOW 15% Glycolic Acid Overnight Glow Peel is available at GOOP.com and Sephora

It is available in a 3 month supply 12 pack of pads.

CocoFloss Textured Vegan Dental Floss for a Cleaner Smile

March 20, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Introducing Cocofloss, a vegan dental floss free of chemicals

CocoFloss Cocktail Pack

CocoFloss Cocktail Pack

Cocofloss is a soft, textured dental floss.  Fancy floss may feel a bit extra, but hear us out on this one: it’s not only vegan but actually a better flossing experience.

We all know flossing is important, but did you know your toothbrush can’t reach 35% of the surface of your teeth?  CocoFloss designed a floss to address this problem.

What is Cocofloss

Cocofloss is a clean beauty dental floss. It is infused with coconut oil and uses vegan wax instead of chemically treated floss.

Why It Is Special

Because it is textured, it tackles more microparticle debris than a waxy gliding floss for a cleaner smile.

There are no toxins, parabens, SLS, or PFAS. And it is cruelty-free.

It comes in multiple flavors:  mint, coconut, strawberry, and orange, and is available in variety packs and limited edition sets.

The CocoFloss Cocktail Pack

I tried the CocoFloss Cocktail Pack in Pink Mojito, shown above. It comes with floss in the flavors of Pure Strawberry and a limited-edition Summer Watermelon with refills in Delicious Mint

The Experience

It doesn’t catch or tear. It fits between crowded teeth. It smells yummy and tastes good! My mouth feels just been to the dentist clean.

Pinch of Colour Healthy Lips Waterless Lip Oil in Pink Crush

March 18, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Seeking a pretty pink lippie that isn’t garish, immature, or just wrong is not an easy task. We have countless pink lip glosses that are pretty shades we are drawn to, but they are not flattering. Pinch of Colour Healthy Lips Waterless Lip Oil in Pink Crush is the perfect shade to provide just a hint of healthy color paired with hydrating ingredients.  More polished than a gloss but more natural-looking than a creamy lipstick, these lip oils provide a healthy lip look.
Pinch of Color Pink Crush is a guava pink - not too orange, not bubble gum

Pinch of Colour Healthy Lips Waterless Lip Oil in Pink Crush is a guava pink – not too orange, not bubble gum pink

The Problem of a Pretty Pink

A sophisticated yet flattering shade of pink is not so easy to find: it can’t be too bubble gum teenager pink. It can’t be so close to a nude that it doesn’t impart a peppy pop of color. It can’t be so vibrant that it lends towards a weird orange shade. Not hot fuschia, not pale red.

The perfect pink gloss is a tricky business. So we really like Pinch of Colour Pink Crush – it is a guava pink with a sheer yet enlivening touch of color.

Key Ingredients

Avocado Oil Ingredient featured on StyleChicks.com

Avocado Oil

Avocado Oil is 72% monounsaturated fatty acids. This is higher than Coconut or Grapeseed oils.

Avocado Oil mixes with water better than other oils. Avo oil readily penetrates into the skin. It absorbs instead of sitting atop the skin, making it an ideal moisturizer for dry, chapped lips.

Rosehip

Rosa Canina Seed Oil

Rosa Canina Seed Oil is an emollient. It contains tocopherols (vitamin E) and carotenoids (pro-vitamin A) that give it some nice antioxidant properties.

Rosa Canina Seed Oil is a moisturizing plant oil loaded with skin-nourishing fatty acids (linoleic acid – 51%, linolenic acid – 19%, and oleic acid – 20%).

Apricot oil

Apricot oil

Apricot Kernel Oil

An emollient that softens and smooths. Apricot oil is lighter than many other oils but still provides a great sheen.

It contains antioxidant vitamin E and nourishing fatty acids (mostly oleic acid 54-74%, linoleic acid 12-35%).

It has nourishing and moisturizing properties (as a high oleic oil it’s ideal for dry skin types) and is quite easily absorbed into the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E softens the skin, making scar tissue more pliable and soft.

Macadamia Nut Oil

Macadamia Nut Oil is a native Australian nut.

Macadamia oil is very rich and contains many natural lipids. It is loaded with emollient and nourishing fatty acids. It’s a high oleic acid oil (50-67% oleic acid and only 0-5% linoleic acid) that makes it very emollient and ideal for dry skin types (and less ideal for acne-prone skin).

Macadamia uniquely contains high amounts of a rare fatty acid called palmitoleic acid (12-25%) that give Macadamia oil a “cushiony” feel. It’s also easily absorbed and makes the skin soft and supple.

What It does not contain

  • Water Free
  • Fragrance-Free
  • Paraben-Free
  • Non-Toxic
  • Vegan
  • Cruelty-Free
