Original Sleek Vitamin C Cream

November 26, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Vitamin C and Retinol are the skincare holy grail because they benefit adult skin of any age. But sensitive skin types often cannot tolerate daily topical Vitamin C application. So we are excited to find Original Sleek Vitamin C Cream which is non-comedogenic, cruelty-free and contains natural moisturizing ingredients to support Vitamin C use, even on sensitive skin types.

Original Sleek Vitamin C Cream contains powerful Vitamin C & natural ingredients for clear skin

What are the Skincare Benefits of Vitamin C?

What are the skincare benefits of Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is applied topically for targeted skin-rejuvenation. It is an anti-aging, acne reducing, and is a age spot, scar, and dark pigmentation fading powerhouse.

Vitamin C is an Anti-Aging

Vitamin C is a building block for collagen synthesis. Collagen is the support structure of the skin. Vitamin C reduces wrinkles and discoloration.

Vitamin C Counteracts Sun Damage

Sun damage is highly aging to the skin. It can cause a leathery skin texture even on younger skin.

Vitamin C also improves sun-damage such as hyper-pigmentation and rough skin texture.

Vitamin C Helps Acne

Vitamin C reduces inflammation on existing acne to reduce the lifestyle of a blemish. It also prevents future acne breakouts. And it fades old acne scars, even dark cystic marks.

Why Original Sleek is Special

Not every Vitamin C product works on sensitive skin. Original Sleek Vitamin C uses a water-soluble vitamin C derivative which is much gentler to skin but just as effective. Unlike direct Vitamin C forms, it converts into Vitamin C upon application. This means less skin irritation.

We like the Original Sleek Vitamin C formulation because:

  • it is non-comedogenic
  • it is cruelty-free
  • no unwanted additives such as gluten, parabens, phthalates, SLS, SLES, and petroleum.
  • it contains buffering ingredients to support regular Vitamin C use without irritation
  • it has opaque packaging to keep ingredients fresh
  • it contains ingredients which work together for fresher, brighter skin
Original Sleek Vitamin C comes in opaque packaging with one pump dispenser

In addition to Vitamin C, Original Sleek Vitamin C Cream contains helpful supporting ingredients. Let’s take a look:

Key Ingredients

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a Vitamin C for sensitive skin, it is a water-soluble Vitamin C derivative. It is particularly beneficial to revive dull skin. Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is less exfoliating than other Cs but still produces collagen and suppresses melanin formation.[1]

Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract

Licorice root contains glabridin, a potent antioxidant that soothes skin. It gently lightens dark circles and improves uneven tone. It is safe for even sensitive skin. [2]

Chamomile

Matricaria Recutita Flower Extract

Matricaria Recutita Flower Extract is chamomile. Chamomile is an antioxidant with potent skin-soothing action. [3] It contains Terpenoids, bisabolol and chamazulene. Chamomile Extract is excellent in a formulation with powerful actives because its’ flavones inhibit skin inflammation. [4] The apigenin in Chamomile protects the skin barrier [5]. Chamomile Extract kills acne-causing bacteria without irritation. [6]

Salicylic Acid

Salicylic Acid is a natural bHA. Salicylic Acid purges clogged pores without excess drying the skin surface.

The lovely Flowering Tea Tree

The lovely flowering Tea Tree, Melaleuca alternifolia

Melaleuca Alternifolia

Melaleuca Alternifolia is better known as tea tree oil. Melaleuca oil contains terpinen-4-ol, which is an amazing antibacterial and antifungal.[7,8]

It is also a moisturizing toner, cleanser and astringent. It effectively treats acne and prevents future breakouts [9]. It is not drying like other acne-treating ingredients, so it is effective on sensitive skin and adult acne. It even treats cystic acne.[10]

Tocopheryl Acetate

Tocopheryl Acetate is Vitamin E, an excellent skin softener.

Aloe Vera

                        Aloe Vera

Aloe Leaf Juice

Aloe Vera Juice comes from the Aloe Vera plant. Aloe Vera nourishes skin with Vitamins A, C, Bs, and E as well as minerals and enzymes. It heals, hydrates, and accelerates skin cell growth. It provides anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

Sodium Hyaluronate

Sodium Hyaluronate is a form of Hyaluronic Acid. It is a humectant that offers stronger moisture retention properties than regular HA. It is found naturally and ample supply in young skin, but depletes with age.

Sodium Hyaluronate has a lower molecular size than other Hyaluronic Acids. It absorbs deeper into the skin and brings other actives along with it.

Cucumber

Cucumis Sativus Oil

Cucumis Sativus Oil is cucumber oil contains Omega-9 and Omega-6 to treat dry, irritated or sunburned skin. Cucumber oil is soothing and reduces swelling. Cucumber contains skin-friendly vitamin A, C and K, magnesium, potassium, and manganese.

Cetearyl Alcohol

Cetearyl Alcohol is fatty alcohol or good alcohol because it holds water, non-drying.

Glycerin

Glycerin attracts and retains moisture and oxygen in the skin.

The Experience

We like the one-pump dispenser design to keep the product fresh.

  • Scent: Slight orange creamsicle, not overpowering, I can’t smell it once applied.
  • Color: pale butter yellow with light orange swirl
  • Consistency: It is a lightweight texture
  • Dry-down: non-oily, absorbs well. Slight tacky finish until it dries. No chalky residue. Light oil finish, not greasy.
Original Sleek Vitamin C Cream is a buttery yellow hue with a creamy texture

Original Sleek Vitamin C Cream is a buttery yellow hue with a creamy texture

With regular use, my skin is well-hydrated and not dry, flaking or irritated as can happen with some Vitamin C creams or serums. There is no weird white residue left on my skin. There is no itchy tight feeling.

Get your glow on with Ready to Glow

Ready to Glow gives a soft, supple look and feel to skin

Ready to Glow gives a soft, supple look and feel to skin

The Experience

One pump is enough for face and throat. Nicely emollient on my chapped lips. There is a very light, pleasant scent of fresh plums, perhaps a hint of apricot.

It absorbs and leaves a finish more like a cream than an oil, I am not greasy at all.  Sunscreen and makeup can be applied immediately without piling or running. Mixing a few drops of Ready to Glow with my foundation gives a soft, luminous look.

While intended for face AND body, there is such good ingredients, we use it primarily on face, throat and décolletage. It also works well on hands and dry cuticles. It absorbs exceptionally well. It is drier than hemi-squalene oil, so if you chose to use it on body and legs, you would not have to wait to dry down before getting dressed.

My skin looks supple after use, not “wet”.

TIP: Try it with your Gua Sha tools, it gives the perfect slip!

Save Your Skin with Elegear Cervical Pillow

October 17, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Do you sleep on your stomach or side? We do too. It is a terrible beauty habit. Side sleeping crushes skin against the pillow for eight hours a night, enforcing wrinkles and sagging on one side. In an effort to learn to sleep on my back, which protects skin AND the spine, we’ve tried lots of pillows and sleep gear. One thing that works is Elegear Cervical Pillow. Learn more about how Elegear Cervical Pillow can save your skin, improve posture and help better sleep.

Factors of Skin and Sleep Positions

Poor Sleep Position Puts Pressure on the Skin

Pillows may feel fluffy, but the human head is heavy.

So side sleeping presses delicate eye skin and facial skin against a hard surface that squishes it for eight hours of wrinkle making.

And your face is being pressed directly into last night’s facial oils and skin debris on your pillowcase, a recipe for acne.

Skin Restoration Requires Quality Sleep

For nightly treatment products to address skin issues, we must get restorative sleep. Collagen production and cell regeneration take place as we sleep. [1] Good pillows are conducive to sleeping well.

Side or stomach sleeping impair the ability of skin topicals to absorb into the skin. Those pricey skincare products end up smeared on your pillowcase instead of helping your skin. Sleeping on the back keeps precious topicals where you put them and allows them to work.

Elegear Cervical Pillow conforms to the head while supporting the shoulders and neck. This creates a comfortable position to sleep on your back.

What Is The Best Sleep Position?

  • Dermatologists recommend that the head is elevated while sleeping. This allows for excess fluid to drain and you won’t wake up puffy.
  • Orthopedists recommend proper head and neck support to avoid neck and back issues.

The pillow has multiple features to optimize better beauty sleep

WHY This Pillow Works

The pillow is made of 55D high-density memory foam. It is adjustable with a removable booster under the weight of your head or body to provide stable, cradling support.

The problem with memory foam pillows is it often feels too soft. To fix this problem, this pillow has:

  • 60D Memory Foam Support Bar to Increase The Hardness
  • 1CM Removable Foam Pad to Increase The Height. There are four height options.

Neck Posture Support Pillow

  • Distributes weight evenly. This is important for those with shoulder or neck strain, lower back pain, muscle tension, headaches, and stress.
  • A unique butterfly design with four contoured areas designed to support the head, shoulders and neck
  • For Side sleepers it keeps their ears in line with their shoulders to support spine comfort and there is an arm rest area.
  • Helps with cervical spondylosis or waking up with a sore neck

Skin-Friendly Pillow

  • The outer material is made of soft, breathable TR blended fabric
  • CertiPUR-US certified
  • Oeko-Tex certified
  • hypo-allergenic

Haruharu Wonder Honey Green Brilliant Cream

September 23, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Haruharu Wonder Honey Green Brilliant Cream is a lightweight gel like cream that absorbs quickly with no tacky dry down.  It is lightweight enough for day use but packs the ingredients of a decadent treating night cream, including several synergistic fermented ingredients that promote collagen synthesis.

Haruharu Wonder Honey Green Brilliant Cream

Haruharu Wonder Honey Green Brilliant Cream decanted onto their custom spatula.

Why HaruHaru Wonder is Special

This Clean Beauty brand boasts 95% natural origin ingredients, including the highly effective Camellia Japonica is also known as Japanese Camellia or tsubaki.  It is the authentic Japanese Camellia seen in brands like Tatcha and SK-II.

It is chemical free, paraben free and cruelty free.

HaruHaru Wonder counteracts environmental stressors, brightens the skin and leaves it dewy and soft. This is done, in part, by the K-Beauty method of using fermented ingredients.

Fermented ingredients such as fermented green tea and Saccharomyces Ferment both protect the skin and rejuvenate. Fermented ingredients also enable better ingredient absorption as they break down ingredient molecules into smaller molecules easier for the skin to absorb. In this regard, Saccharomyces Ferment is a superstar.

Check out this ingredient lineup:

Key Ingredients

Flowering Camellia Sinensis

Flowering Camellia Sinensis AKA Green Tea

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract

Camelia Sinensis is the leaves of green and white tea. It is gentle yet powerful. This green tea is fermented for extra skincare benefits.

It contains phenols and EGCG which evens the skin tone, and is an anti-inflammatory antioxidant. It reduces redness and inflammation around the delicate eye area.

EGCG enables the production of new cells in the epidermis [1] . It contains phenols to strengthen collagen and elastin. This gives skin a bouncy, younger look while delaying wrinkles.

Honey

Honey is a natural antibacterial and moisturizing humectant.

Raw honey is a gentle spot acne treatment and anti-aging antioxidant. Honey is a pore clarifier and a moisturizer.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a Vitamin B3 derivative.

Niacinamide promotes collagen, addresses a loss of elasticity and reduces redness. It fades acne scars and brightens the skin.[2] It reduces the inflammation of rosacea and other inflammatory skin conditions [3]

An effective brightening and lightening tool all own its’ own, when paired with Vitamin K results in brighter and firmer skin. It decreases sebum production, [4]  fine lines and enlarged pores. It inhibits melanin production in hyperpigmentation. [5]

Niacinamide reduces the impact of environmental damage because it improves skin’s barrier and Ceramide levels [6] .

This formula has a hydrating Sunflower Oil base combined with soothing, skin rejuvenating natural ingredients

hydrating Sunflower Seed Oil

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil

Sunflower Seed Oil functions as a lipid buffer against drying ingredients or topical medicines [7] It retains moisture in the skin and is also rich in vitamin E.

Sunflower Oil is non-comedogenic and can moisturize acne-prone areas. It soothes eczema, scarring, redness, and irritation.  It is a natural treatment for atopic dermatitis. [8]

Linoleic acid gives sunflower seed oil anti-inflammatory properties.

Camellia Japonica Seed Oil

Camellia Japonica is an excellent antioxidant and moisturizer, Camellia japonica oil is rich in Omega 9. Omega 9 helps the skin retain hydration.  Camellia japonica oil also contains polyphenols, vitamins A, D, C, and E.

This non-comedogenic oil promotes skin elasticity.[9]   It the most effective at transdermal collagen and elastin delivery.

Camellia Japonica

The seed of the Camilla japonica produces a highly effective skincare oil

Saccharomyces Ferment

A moisturizing, skin- soothing, nutrient rich yeast ferment that stimulates cell renewal with amino acids and peptides. It is well tolerated even by sensitive skin types.

Saccharomyces Ferment is a probiotic yeast obtained by fermentation. It is considered a postbiotic. [10]

Fermentation increases nutrient density like a skincare ingredient “power level up”.  In Saccharomyces Ferment, it adds nutrients to a formulation as it produces amino acids and peptides. Amino acids and peptides can be easily absorbed by the skin to promote collagen synthesis and nourish our skin cells.

Saccharomyces lysate extract neutralizes toxins such as trace heavy metals and pesticides. [11]

It increases oxygen flow to skin cells. The better the oxygen flow and consumption, the better vital skin components such as collagen and elastin are maintained.

Lactobacillus Ferment

A probiotic to maintain the microbiome for a healthy skin barrier, reducing skin issues such as acne.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid retains moisture and increases the effectiveness of other ingredients.

Hyaluronic acid holds its’ weight in moisturizer, plumping the skin, making fine wrinkles and mild sagging disappear temporarily. It also drives active ingredients to deep skin layers for better results.

Beta-Glucan comes from oats

Beta-Glucan

Derived from oat, Beta-Glucan is a polysaccharide sugar derived from yeast or oats. It is an antioxidant and skin-soother especially helpful for calming red, irritated skin.

Glycerin

Glycerin is a natural vegetable-derived humectant. Glycerin helps the skin to retain moisture.

Glycerin fills in gaps in dryer skin which makes skin look better and keeps the outer layer of the skin intact.

Hydrogenated Lecithin

Hydrogenated lecithin is a phospholipid that is produced by controlled hydrogenation of the skin-restoring ingredient lecithin.

Palmitic Acid

A fatty acid that is a natural emollient found in a variety of palms.  Helps skin retain moisture longer, and is particularly soothing to sensitive skin conditions such as eczema.

Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols

An emollient and an anti-oxidant. Soybeans are rich in Vitamin E which softens and reduces inflammation.

Jojoba Seeds

Jojoba Seeds

Simmondsia Chinensis

Jojoba Seed Oil removes impurities and flakes, reduces inflammation, and soothes skin. Jojoba oil is an emollient, made of 98% monounsaturated fats.

Jojoba gives elasticity and softness to the skin without causing acne or clogged pores.

Caprylyl Glycol

One of the “good” alcohols that binds to moisture.  A humectant.

Caprylyl Glycol is skin-conditioning. It is an alcohol derived from caprylic acid. Caprylic acid is a fatty acid found in milk, coconut and and palm oil

Tocopherol

Tocopherol is a form of Vitamin E derived from vegetable oils.  It is a moisturizing and skin softening antioxidant.

Olives benefits the skin

Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate both use the fatty acids of olives

Cetearyl Olivate

Cetearyl Olivate is a combination of the ester of Cetearyl Alcohol and the fatty acids from Olives.

It is not drying because Cetearyl Olivate is moisture attracting and retaining. Olive oil fatty acids have skin-enhancing Omega-3s and polyphenols. These make skin glow! Cetearyl Olivate will not clog pores.

Sorbitan Olivate

Sorbitan Olivate is a combination of the fatty acids of olives and a fruit-based sugar alcohol. It is commonly paired with Cetearyl Olivate to lend a creamy consistency. Quite moisturizing.

The Experience

We love how it counteracts the irritation of aHAs or Retinol without feeling greasy or sticky. It goes on well underneath sunscreen with no pilling. Not heavily scented. And it comes in a generously sized container with this adorable little scoop!

We have been using it for a long time and still can’t get over how effective and decadent it is!?

TIP: spread the cream out from the inside of the face outward and upward. After a moment, tap the skin lightly to enhance absorption.
